The only coupon I have seen from them in months is the 20% off of your regular purchase. They used to offer 40 or 50% off coupons every week. They also no longer take competitor coupons.

I’m a “Rewards Member” (whatever that means) And I get them via email. Sometimes they’re 40% sometimes 30% and sometimes 20% and honestly they do seem kind of random. They’re usually for in-store and online both.

I am a Rewards Member too. My e-mail coupons are mostly 20% and 30%. The only item I want there (another Hudson Cart) is always excluded.

Im a rewards member and i only ever get 20%. The regular flyer usually has 30%. Anything I want is usually excluded or they have cleared it out. Last time I was there everything was Recollections (or the store here anyway).

From past posts asking this question, I think we found out that Rewards membership is the way to go, but even then people in different states seem to get different coupons. Or maybe they go by the things you purchase. Not sure. I just know that I often get 30-40% off coupons in my area.

I guess it's because they have such fabulous copy-cat items, they feel they don't need to offer them anymore. As I have been purging through my stuff I am saddened when I come across many of the name brand items I once bought there. Some of the Recollection stuff is cute, but some of it is just plain junky.

I am a rewards member also, and get 20%-30%-40% by email, the % amount varies weekly.
Edited to add.... M's got rid of those weird sliding racks in the scrapbook sticker/embellishment aisle, and they seemed to have kept the older been around for years products and got rid of anything that was newer. Anything newer or worthwhile is available "online only", my preference is to shop in store. I am NOT paying shipping, nor will I be forced into spending a lot more than I need to, just to earn "free shipping".

I used to go to Mike's, Jo's, and The Lobby, but lately I get a little depressed because it seems like the same boring stuff I already have. I want new stuff like Vicky Papaioannou has.

This is one of the reasons I now shop at JoAnn's. I'm lucky to have one not too far from me that has newer name brand products, and their store brand seems to be of a better quality than M's. I also get 50% off coupons and progressive coupons ($5, $10, and $15 off a purchase of a certain total). The cashiers are very nice, and I can combine coupons. Unlike M's, their coupon policy is easy for both customers and employees to understand.

I just went to Michaels yesterday and used the coupon for 20% off regular items that’s always on their website. I miss the 40%off coupons. I am a rewards member and only recently started receiving rewards emails for dollar off. Their rewards system could be better, but I definitely have reduced my purchases there. Prices seem high and shelves are sometimes empty and slow to restock (like ribbon). I miss the days when their papercraft stock was better.

I love the Recollection's heavy black cardstock. It's 110 lbs. It has a really nice finish and its perfect for sentiments, especially.
Other than that there's not really much I buy at Michael'a anymore. I just check the Michaels Canada website and they are offering 30% off of one regular priced item. That seems to be the best coupon they offer these days.

every since they were purchased by a venture capital group, the coupons have sucked. i'm a rewards person too but i wouldn't get out of bed for anything less than 50%. it's been mostly 20% and occasionally a higher one.
my visits to michaels have gone from weekly to 4 or 5 times since the coupons started to suck almost two years ago. that's ok though. i have a huge Joann near me and they love giving 40/50/60% off and other stackable coupons. they've gotten so much of my money lately.

I wonder if they are not doing very well? The nearest one near me closed and it was open for several years.

The prices at Michaels and Joanns always seemed to be relatively the same. Now that they got rid of the 40% off coupons, everything I check is at least $2 more at Michaels than Joanns and Joanns still has 40% coupons.
I’ve pretty much given up on Michaels unless I’m desperate.

Does anyone remember which card stock from Michaels that was so good in the silhouette machine? I haven’t picked any up in forever but now I’m out. Thanks!

I’m a Rewards member as well. When they reopened after Covid struck, they had changed the rules about coupons where they no longer accept competitors’ coupons (I loved using Joanns coupons there), and they were mostly doing the 20% and 30% off a total regular priced purchase. Occasionally they’d throw in a 40% off total regular price but those were few and far between. They also closed down the website run by Darice once they bought them out, it was consumercrafts.com and they had great sales. I bought from them probably a dozen times and really loved that site. I emailed them about this within a month of their reopening and they apologized and sent me a then-coveted 40% off one item coupon and said they’d pass along my concerns. We all know that rarely means anything.
I also noticed that their stores were getting super run down and the papercrafting section of loose, open stock papers was abysmal in my regular stores. They’d be out of huge section of paper for MONTHS at each one I visited. They had introduced these really pretty new Martha Stewart glitter cardstock open stock papers, but then quickly discontinued them along with her new line of acrylic paints that had all new colors. It was weird and seemed rather pointless.
On a recent trip, I noticed that when I found an open stock piece of really pretty blue cardstock, the quality control was the worst I’d ever seen. I took a picture of the same card stock (with the UPC and color name showing) in 5 separate sheets, laid out on a flat surface, and each one was a noticeably different shade of blue—to the point that they wouldn’t even qualify as being recognizable as the same shade, but all were labeled as the same item.
On that same trip, I went into the bathroom and saw that there was only one light working, absolutely no toilet paper at all, no paper towels, no working hand dryer, and when I looked at the restroom shift checklist on the back of the door, I kid you not, it showed that the last time the bathroom had been inspected and signed off on was once during one shift over four MONTHS earlier. I was so grossed out.
I emailed them about the horrible condition of the papercrafting items, the inconsistency with cardstock, the bathrooms, along with photos and they apologized and said it was unacceptable and they would forward to a District Manager. Yeah, whatever. I never heard back and nothing has changed. I feel like they’ve gotten too big to care after buying up Martha Stewart’s line, Darice, and AC Moore.
Interestingly, for the last 5-6 weeks, I consistently get 40% off a single item coupon and the occasional 20% or SOMETIMES 30% off the entire regular price purchase, but there’s very little in stock that I’m interested in anymore. They’ve really taken a nosedive. At least all of my local ones have and I live just outside the NYC market, so much that the Manhattan stores come up as local. I’ve tried about 5 stores and some are better than others but all have taken a drastic turn for the worst.

I use their Recollections brand in the 25 pack in black and white and get great results in my Silhouette. The more expensive papers are a crap shoot.

My Michael’s has been downsizing their scrapbook section and phasing out the name brands. There is nothing left there for my to buy for scrapbooking except for cardstock and vellum. They no longer carry 12x12 Bazzill. I get monthly $5 off coupons as a rewards member and can’t find anything. It makes me sad. I have taken the time to fill out surveys about the lack of product and have answered truthfully when a staff member asks if “I found everything I needed”. I do most of my shopping online, but I used to like going to an actual store. I miss the days of being able to buy a whole line of Basic Grey there!

BTW, JoAnn's still accepts competitors' coupons in the store. I don't think Michael's does that anymore.

Around the holidays, do they run a special where you can use a coupon on one of their EVERY DAY LOW PRICE items (or whatever they call it)?? I really would like another Hudson cart which used to be $99.99 and now $59.99 and EXCLUDED on all coupons.

I just received my first 40% off coupon in a text message. It will definitely make it more likely for me to shop there. I've avoided it since they eliminated weekly coupons.

I had a $100 gc for Michaels and couldn't find enough items I wanted online to spend it all. I left my cart full and later that day I received an email reminding me that I had items in my cart - along with a coupon code for 30% off my entire purchase. The coupon had to be used within 2 days. I did order $50 worth of stuff in order to get free shipping. I will save the rest of the gc for when I really need something, like cardstock or ink.

Watch the coupons. I have been sent coupons for Canada and I'm in the US. Somehow they have me signed up to receive the emails for Canada... Needless to say I wasn't happy when they wouldn't let me use the coupon.

I got another 40% off coupon this week. They have been showing up for weeks now. I wonder if Michaels realizes that pulling back on the coupons has been hard on their sales. I used to go every week. Now I go every 7-8 weeks.
