It was the technical round when they made the sable whatever it was - the pastry base without sides. Chigg’s came 4th if I remember correctly. One element wouldn’t set and it was just not good. All 4 going through would have been the fair answer I think. Oh yes I remember now. The round thing with the strawberries and meringues! I didn’t think any of them were particularly good for that stage, the item didn’t appeal to me anyway. (I recognise that slicing the strawberries would be my limit for the challenge. ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/OrTI4SBmZ2ZYSFv6ag4f.jpg) )

It’s been a great series, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it and hope we get to see more of many of the bakers once it’s over. I’d like to see Lizzie again!

So what do you think of last night's 'eviction'? I don't want to write the name in case someone hasn't watched it yet. I'm not sure it was deserved going on past form to be honest. One of the things that has always been tough for me with this show is that they base eliminations only on that one weekend without considering past form. And to some extent I get do get that, because they want to allow for growth. If you were fairly lousy the first few weeks but are amazing by the last few, is it fair to punish you for taking a few weeks to hit your stride? But when I see people who were consistently better than others leave, while lucky breaks keep some in the game longer than I really feel they should be there, then it's harder for me. So yeah, I know you can't have it both ways, but it does still feel rough to me some times.

And Chigs had a complete disaster yesterday...I'm not sure the right person went home, are you? I'm caught up as this week's just became available yesterday. I love the show so much I often drag it out and watch one bake at a time over a couple of days. I did think they made the right choice. The one who went home was an excellent baker. The person was so good that I think they sometimes overlooked imperfections in other weeks. It was a surprise. I'm really happy because I figured one of the two I liked best wouldn't make it through and now I have all my favorites in the final. I'll have to avoid this thread for a whole week!

Did you see the finale? I thought the right person won. Guiseppe was the best baker overall. I had really wanted Cristelle and Chigs to be in the final; they both grew with the competition. If she hadn't put so much oil in that focaccia, she might have won. I've never made one but that seemed to be the problem. It's amazing that Chigs has only been baking a year and a half. The other baker that I loved was George. I knew he wasn't the best but he seemed like such a nice guy and he tried so hard. Lizzie and Maggie annoyed me because they flat out refused to make the improvements the judges wanted. I thought this was one of the better seasons. Is anyone else annoyed by the hosts? In the finale I really wanted someone to take the spatula and smack Noel in the face with it.

I certainly did see it lisae ![](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I agree, that person was a very worthy winner, humble and talented Noel annoys me less than the other one who's name escapes me momentarily

I've gotten used to Matt and Noel's goofy humor. Matt actually made me LOL a few times - Noel makes me laugh a bit less.
And I was thrilled by the winner. Would've been happy with any of them, but the winner was the one I hoped would win.

This is one of my favorite series, period. And it is one that Dh watches with me even though he doesn’t bake. (He is an Anglophile, though). The Brits certainly do reality television more gracefully than we do in the US.
The winner wasn’t our choice, his technical was inedible and even Dh - who doesn’t bake - was yelling at the television that he needed to take them out of the oven. However, they are all deserving and all of the final 4 (including the person who was sent home at the end of the semi-final) are amazing bakers.

I’m wondering if it came down so close between the three of them that the judges considered the rest of the weeks on the show to come to their final decision.
Because I thought for sure someone else was going to win if only based on the finale bakes. But they all did have their shortcomings.

I thought the exact same thing…I really thought someone else did better in the finale and was going to win if based on that week only but when the other person won, I thought perhaps they considered other weeks.
