Hello 👋 So, I started scrapbooking in the 90’s, but I have been on a really long hiatus where I haven’t touched my supplies in years. I am really having the urge lately to get back into it, but I’m feeling completely overwhelmed. All of my supplies are pretty old, and I don’t even know where to begin. I used to really keep up with all the latest supplies, and techniques, and enjoyed watching videos, and buying supplies, but I feel really out of the loop. So, I was wondering what were some of the favorites of current scrapbookers? I need to replace my pens and ink pads for sure, most have dried up. What are your current favorites? Ink pads, pens, adhesives, paper trimmers, fun tools that I could maybe add to my Christmas list this year? Favorite products or embellishments that you can’t scrapbook without? Favorite places, or You Tube channels, or Instagram accounts to get inspiration? I ordered an Epson Picture Mate this week with some birthday money I’ve been saving, so I have a plan for photo printing. I’ve found some scrapbooking podcasts that I’ve started listening to again. I’m going into my office, and staring at my supplies, trying to get up the inspiration to organize, and evaluate what’s in there. I’m feeling really excited and ready to work scrapbooking back into my life! I plan on starting with a December album for 2020 once my printer arrives. I think this will be a good place to start since my Christmas supplies are the most current, and I get the most excited about them. Anyways, I know this was a long post with a lot of questions, so I’m obviously not expecting people to answer everything. I just thought it would be fun to get some ideas before I dive back in, and make a trip to a craft store to replace some of my basic supplies. I also thought it would be fun to get some ideas for my Christmas list this year, because craft supplies are my favorite 🥰. Thanks for any advice, or suggestions!

So, I was wondering what were some of the favorites of current scrapbookers? I really enjoy Heba of My Little Journal, Leilani Scraps and Jenni Garcia (you should be able to find them all on Youtube and Instagram). I love Heba's clean style and she's a great stamper on her layouts. She does not make cards so seeing how she uses what would be a typical "card" stamp set is great. Leilani Scraps is just light and fun and makes super cute layouts, she uses colors that I normally wouldn't use but her projects are so fun it's making me want to step out of my comfort zone and use them. Jenni Garcia makes beautiful things, her handmade embellishments are gorgeous and her handwriting is so pretty.
What are your current favorites? Ink pads, pens, adhesives, paper trimmers, fun tools that I could maybe add to my Christmas list this year? Ink pads: I love all the Memento inks and the Distress Oxides. Pens: this is a hard one because I haven't found my favorite yet. I keep defaulting to those skinny Sharpies (fine point felt tip). Adhesives: still using my ATG and also switched my liquid glue to Bearly Arts glues. Paper trimmer: still using my Fiskars trimmer and am always hunting for a better one. Fun tools: I like using the Taylored Expressions blender brushes with the distress oxides, but any type of blender brush works well (get a cheap one from Amazon to try them to see if you like them first)
Favorite products or embellishments that you can’t scrapbook without? I'm currently going through my old stash of products from 2009-13 and am loving using this older stuff, but for new stuff, I like Pink Fresh Studios lines and Vicki Boutin Lines.

I'm a pretty simple scrapper so my list is probably shorter/different than the more creative scrappers
cardstock - I like all the colours. I'm always happy to find Bazzil at TM but I also like the Hot Buy pads of cardstock at M's - it has a nice texture.
I just got a Gemini Jr and it's awesome - loving it for cutting dies. I haven't tried embossing folders yet. I still grab my QK hand tool for 2x2 dies though.
pens? I love my micron for journalling and knock-off copics for colouring (mine are from Big Lots but I also use DD's Ohuhu ones & have a set of my own on my wishlist)
adhesive - I'm pretty old-school with photo tabs and my X xyron but also Tacky glue and pop-dots/squares
I don't buy a ton of new stuff but Echo Park, Carta Bella, and Photoplay tend to have collections I find usable
paper cutter - I'm also using a Fiskars - it works fine for me.
Embellishments - I still love enamel dots, nuvo dots, and stickers plus of course die cuts (from collections or cut at home)

I actually love my creative memories trimmer (the big one, not the little size one). You can get different blades, so I have the scoring blade and a wavy blade. I have a very small collection of basic punch shapes (circle, heart, star) and an old creative memories circle cutting system. I keep my tools very simple as I have a small stash and small space to work with. Paper and embellishments I just get whatever catches my eye and is on sale I am not too picky when it comes to that. I can make any supply work. I stocked up on stickers and single sheets when my local A/C Moore was going out of business. I also shop at Joann, Michaels, A Cherry On Top, and rarely scrapbook.com (they are the priciest imo). Oh, and sometimes you can even find things on amazon. Tuesday Morning used to be good for bargains, but not so much anymore. Check your facebook marketplace for supplies too!

The Works All-in-One tool by We R Memory Keepers is my favorite paper trimmer. I also use the score board and make envelopes with it. It also includes a stamping platform if you haven't tried one of those yet.

I too got back last year after a long absence. Silhouette Cameo 4 - use it for every layout. My original silhouette died during its nap - well maybe it was the friend I lent it too for her to do some fun things for one of her kids birthday parties and 9 months later it came back and never worked again . Bought the cutterpede. Hate it. Don’t recommend it. I still use my punches on every layout . ATG gun, the X by Xyron. Just FYI they d/c a few sizes over the years including the cartridges so if you have larger than the X see if your size was d/c. I am still in love with my stash and very rarely buy new paper so I can’t help you there. Most of my favorite manufactures no longer exist or were swallowed up by American Crafts and died a slow death. I do follow a few kit clubs - paper person (Kelly Purkey) and Feed Your Craft. Elles studio, studio calico, citrus twist are a few more. I am finding that the traditional 12x12, 8/12x11 are decreasing in popularity and moving towards the pocket pages and 6x8, 3x8 size.

Ohhh but the papers I do like are Carte Bella, Simple Stories.
Ink pads - Memento Luxe but I generally stick to pigment inks. Bought the entire collection of scrapbook.com’s hybrid ink - pass. There are better (Altenew).

Everyone has given you such amazing supply ideas so I thought I'd list some of my favorite YouTubers: (After listing them all out I realized they're all card makers but the techniques can work for SB too)
Natasha Foote Nancy Stamps Gail Ellis Jo Blackman Jennifer McGuire Sam Calcott Splitcoaststampers
The one tool I couldn't live without (not an exaggeration) is my Vagabond 2 die cut machine.

Welcome back to scrapbooking! I love a lot of different types of products: I MUST like them, since I have purchased so many of them! ! I think some of my favourites are: 1. the wide variety of colours and patterns and weights of the papers today. They can stand alone, or be layered, cut or torn... 2. the way inks have become so much prettier and so much easier to blend. And the way most of the papers take the ink. 3. And the different mixed media products, like art crayons and mists and glazes. Love the messy splatter looks. My fav cs for working with these is Vicki Boutin foundation cs. 4. my Vagabond and all the dies and embossing folders I use with it. 5. and did I mention Nuvo drops? They can make those pretty little dimensional dots, but I also love them for handwriting titles and adding other little details.

My style is simple, clean, linear, & (mostly) flat with extensive journaling, actual memorabilia, etc. My favorites include: Ink - VersaFine Clair (pigment), VersaMark (clear pigment for tone on tone or embossing) Pens - Pigma Micron (pigment) Adhesive - EZ Runner by Scrapbook Adhesives Trimmer - Fiskars ProCision Tools - t-square ruler (is my most used tool!), alpha dies, basic shape punches (e.g. circles, labels) Products - I paper. I start every layout with cardstock (usually a neutral - white, vanilla, kraft, grey, charcoal, navy, dark brown, or black); Bazzill cardstock remains my favorite. I'm neither a themed nor collection scrapper, so I prefer to buy patterned paper by the sheet (usually from Echo Park, Simple Stories, Photoplay, etc. for the classic patterns on the reverse, such as stripes, plaids, dots) & few embellishments (only versatile/non-themed labels, enamel dots, etc.) For inspiration on this site, check out the monthly sharing threads (e.g. September SHARING thread) & the Gallery link in the header above.

I love my Silhouette Cameo and use it for scrapbooking and paper crafting. I use it all the time.
You mentioned starting a December album. If you watched legal_lady’s new YouTube videos of her December Daily albums, she used some very attractive die cut pieces that I think she cut with an electronic cutter.
The Silhouette Cameo has so much capability and possibilities.

I would suggest Hip Kit Club's YouTube channel. I'm not affiliated with HKC, just a happy subscriber. They have an active design team and put out videos just about every day. Even if you don't subscribe, I would think it could be handy just to see different techniques and products that are out there.

I am so terrible with brands and things but my favorites are:
- My new edition Stampin' Up trimmer. It's not perfect but it is better than most. - My herma dotto removeable adhesive, glue dots and foam tape - My cutter bee scissors but any micro point scissors works - black cardstock. I seem to use it a whole lot - American Crafts cardstock I get at convention, but I'm not fussy about quality. It is the colors that I care about. - Thickers type letter stickers but any really, as well as thickers type words and phrases - Theme stickers by anyone. I love theme scrapping. - Favorite paper people is Scrap your trip.com, Scrapbook Creations, Frank Garcia studio stuff like Prima, Stamperia, etc, Photoplay Family Fun collection, some Creative memories offerings - they have changed so much! - WRMK 8.5x11 3 ring albums that are hard to find now - Club Scrap - enamel dots - mini distress inks - washi tape
