So my husband has COVID right now. He was diagnosed via a rapid test and I was tested as well and was negative. I’m wondering if that was a mistake or not. I have felt “off” and run down for a week and a half now and at the beginning of it I was very, very nauseous for about a day and a half. Combine that with a scratchy, not really sore, throat and I’m wondering if I had COVID and gave it to him.
Has anyone had covid and their main symptom was nausea and feeling run down? I googled but didnt find anything helpful so I thought I’d get some real world info from the peas. TIA!

Did you have a PCR or just the rapid test? My colleague who had a breakthrough case had that run-down feeling, though I don't know whether nausea was a part of it.
I hope you both feel better very soon.

My sister and 3 nieces all had break through COVID and tested negative 3x over a week with rapid tests, while showing symptoms.

Feeling rundown, absolutely exhausted was the 1st symptom I felt when I got Covid back in December 2020. All 5 of us got it and each one of us had a different mix of symptoms. DH and oldest DS where the only 2 to have a fever.
My DD had severe nausea, diarrhea, headache, cough, muscle/bone pain, and overall weakness. Middle son had a headache, little sniffles and that's about it. Oldest son lost his sense of taste and smell, fever, headache, muscle pain, & cough. DH also lost his sense of smell and taste, fever, cough& back/muscle pain. I had a cough, muscle/bone pain, nausea, diarrhea & headache.
When my symptoms started, after exhaustion followed a scratchy throat and the sniffles. But this is back before the vaccine and the OG strain of Covid, so I'm assuming the symptoms and severity would be less severe.
Oh yeah, the kids symptoms lasted 2 weeks, DH's about a month, and as for me, I'm currently still dealing with long-covid.
Edited to add: just wanted to show you how different the symptoms could be from person to person. So evern if you only have a few symptoms, it could still be Covid.

I had Covid in February 2021. I felt "off" for a couple of days and then started to feel like a was getting a bad cold. I had a fever off and on for a couple of days. I had some loose stools, but that could have been all of the Body Armor I was drinking. I was tired, but not as knock-down, sleep all day as I was a year prior--I'm not saying I had covid in February 2020, but I'm not ruling it out.
I had it the "worst" in my family. Dh & our boys all tested positive a week after I did, but they mostly had a cold. Our youngest had a fever one night, but that was it.

When I had Covid both times it was headache, nausea, horrible cough/burning lungs, extreme fatigue, fever, chills, loss of taste/smell. This past week ds and I were both quite ill with nausea, sore throat, headache, sinus, fever. We both tested negative rapid and then a few days later also negative PCR. Regardless what it is, I sincerely hope you can hydrate, rest, and feel better ASAP!

I had breakthrough covid in early August. My worst symptom was nausea and I also had no appetite. It lasted for over 3 weeks. My friend is a doctor in California and she said that most breakthrough covid cases they were seeing showed digestive system issues as the major symptom.
I hope you both feel better soon.

There is also RSV which is completely rampant right now. No one is talking about it but many doctors/hospitals are seeing more of it than Covid.

Me and my DH just got released. We both had mild cold symptoms, low grade fever and lost smell. That was pretty much it for him. My last three days were the worst. I got diarrhea BAD. Also coughed so hard my chest is so sore. Woke up at 3 am with my shirt, sheets and two pillows soaking wet with sweat.

I had Covid in January and my main symptom was GI distress. Sorry to report I am still dealing with some long-term GI symptoms that never fully resolved or are resolving at a VERY slow pace. My gastroenterologist said he has been seeing this in his practice. Sucks.

I've heard that rapid tests are more reliable if you test positive with them. There are apparently a lot of false negatives with them. People I know who tested negative with a rapid test were also given a PCR test to double check. Many of their tests came back positive with the PCR test. Maybe see if you can get a PCR test to double check your results?

I'm sorry that so many of you have had to deal with this! DH is doing much better and so am I, although I never felt really terrible. I never had a fever, cough, body aches, or headache, only nausea, scratchy throat and just an overall feeling of "I just feel bad".

I had covid last year. While my dh had the cold like symptoms that turned to covid pneumonia with high fever. I had nausea with vomiting and diarrhea. No fever, or cold symptoms. But man I was miserable for a couple of weeks. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

I'm not sure but I think their inital was a rapid and the later one wasn't Same thing happened with a friend of mine. Initially negative, then positive. I am fully vaccinated, but have what I think is a cold ( it started with a sore throat). I had to get a COVID test today because I work at a school. I’m waiting on the results.

Taking my youngest to be tested tomorrow - she has a headache, fatigue, nausea, lack of appetite...she's fully vaccinated also and masks at school (and that's the only place she goes) but we're in a hotspot so...better safe than sorry

Just like pregnancy tests only register a positive once hCG is above a certain threshold, rapid tests only register a positive once viral load is above a certain level. Test too early in either case and you will get a false negative result. PCR tests "amplify" the levels each cycle, so are more accurate with lower viral load samples. The higher the number of cycles required before the level is detected, the lower the viral load.

hope you're feeling better soon and are negative. thank you— I just saw this. I was negative but will wear a mask from now on because I don’t want this 3-pack-a-day smoker’s cough ever again. I haven’t smoked since 1991, btw.
