My iphone randomly put itself into recovery mode and not even the Apple Store could save two years of photos which I just lost. It was a bad experience and I need a new phone - the camera quality is my highest priority and I'm looking for a new non-Apple phone. What do you guys recommend?

Didn't your phone do automatic backups to the cloud?
I love my iPhone and currently have the 11 pro max. The camera is fantastic!

I'm so sorry you lost all of those photos. I know that's heart wrenching. I'm no help with the phone recommendation though, because I still have my iPhone X. Photos are the only reason I care about my phone, but the idea of swapping to another one at this point seems bad. I've been using iPhones since the 4. ETA: I don't back up to the cloud either. I manually transfer to my CPU each day. Then I have an external HD and another cloud service for all of my photos since my dSLR are all on my CPU, too.

I'm waiting for the Pixel 6 to come out, October I think. But even then I always back up to the cloud via Google photos AND Prime Photos AND use Dropbox to transfer photos to my desktop computer. I would be devastated if I lost 2 yrs worth of photos.

The camera on my Galaxy S21 is amazing and I hear that the S21+ is even better. I've had Galaxy phones for years and am always happy with how they perform but the camera in my new one is outstanding!
Good luck with your search and I'm sorry you lost all those photos.

Samsung Galaxy. I have the Galaxy 8, because I’ve had it at least a couple of years, but the photo and video capability are excellent.

You don't need an $800.00 phone, you need a $550.00 camera. I have a Galaxy S7. I consider it an adequate camera with a lousy phone app.

You would have to pull my iPhone from my cold dead hands. Mine also backs up automatically to Google Photos and Apple Cloud. I would be heartbroken in your situation. I’m so sorry.

If ET was up there we definitely would have seen him. My crappy iPhone 11 can't do that.

What a horrible thing to happen! Sorry you lost your photos. I have the iPhone 11 and the camera is great, a big step from the X. Finally a truly good low-light camera from Apple.

Extracting myself from Apple would be a painful process, but it’s tempting.

It was a bad experience and I need a new phone - the camera quality is my highest priority and I'm looking for a new non-Apple phone. What do you guys recommend? I’m so sorry this happened. I have a friend who was able to recover her photos with Dr. Fone software, but she used it before restoring her phone to factory settings. Apple does not usually recommend the use of 3rd party software, so they may have not recommended this option, but might be worth trying unless you have already wiped your phone. Dr. Fone Recovery Software
If you decide to switch to Android, Samsung Galaxy phones and Google’s own Pixel line of phones have excellent cameras. Good luck, I hope there is still some chance to recover your photos…

The first thing I learnt in Computer School was "If you don't have it in three places, you don't have it". "It", of course, refers to data. Back then we were using 5¼" floppy disks.

I'm way overdue for an upgrade and this makes me wanna run down to my Verizon store lol. 😂 I still have an 8+ with no complaints though.

Another peeve about "sell" phones; have you noticed, the cameras and texting improve with each new model, but it's still the same old phone? "Can you hear me now?"

I upgraded to the Samsung Galaxy S21+ for the camera after lots of research. It did not disappoint! I love it! A few weeks after I got it there was a full moon and my husband kept bugging me to zoom in and take a pic like the commercials and just to shut him up I did even though I was very skeptical. 😳 I was back and forth between a camera and a phone and went with the phone cause I always have my phone with me. I'm not disappointed.
