The story behind why the program was started is super sad (a local race car driver started it after his 2 sons were killed in a car accident. The older son was driving), but I am thankful he did. My 16 yo did this program and it was great. The kids practiced various situation like driving while distracted (the instructor had dd text me while driving a slalom course, turned the radio way up, put the car in neutral to panic her a bit, etc.), slamming on the brakes to feel the anti-lock brakes, dropping a wheel and correcting. They also wet down the pavement and had the kids practice steering out a skid. (Parents got to try some of the courses too, it was fun!). The only thing that would have made it better were if it were longer. It kind of made me want to look for a program for adults so I could do the same thing - it is so much easier to manage a scary situation if it is something you have faced before.

I'm teaching my son to drive right now (which is nerve-wracking, even as careful as he is) and this sounds like a great program. I especially feel we can't ever get enough practice in not over-correcting, or in what to do when the car skids, etc. I do a lot of talking but the actual experience in a course like this would be great.
