I just discovered this a few weeks ago and have really been enjoying her livestreams. Fridays at 8 pm Eastern time. This is her live from last Friday: youtu.be/eIm3UJG5WIEI just thought I'd mention it because it really is like taking a class, but it's free. Last Friday she layered Distress inks on a 12x12 piece of cardstock, and tomorrow night she will be cutting out leaves (I think that's what she said) from the distressed cardstock and making a card and a scrapbook page with it. She teaches techniques and all sorts of things, and will livestream for several hours - last week was 2 hours and 40 minutes approx, but other livestreams have been 3 or 4 hours. I took a class from her about a decade ago and found her really genuine. She seems really knowledgable about mixed media these days and I always learn a lot. It's a nice way to spend a Friday night, either crafting along or just watching and/or commenting. Just thought I'd share!

Thanks for the reminder. She does take about an hour to actually get started, so keep that in mind when you're joining. If you don't like a lot of chit-chat (and I don't), you might want to join late. Or you could use that time to go and gather your supplies if you want to work along with her.

TFS! I love listening to or watching something scrappy when I'm scrapbooking.

Thanks, marg. I love Vicki! She has such a can-do attitude, and makes the whole process FUN! Do you know if these are then available for viewing later? (That way it would be possible to fast forward through the chitchat if you just wanted to get to the meat of the lesson.)

Vicki is awesome - met her several years ago at a class. She really enjoys her work and is very engaging and personable.

Yes, that's how I first started watching her - I found her old YouTube lives that she uploaded after the fact. The past few weeks I've actually tuned it live. I should have mentioned that she likes to chat for a while first. If I watch it after the fact I just forward over that and get to the project. I really liked her projects tonight. I'm going to try them - I don't have any layouts using techniques like those, so it will be a nice change.

I worked along in my art journal using techniques that she showed a few weeks ago, and I had a lot of fun. I'm almost finished with my October calendar pages.

It is also live on FB. You can join her Vicki Boutin Creative Community page. I love her Friday Night Lives and she will be teaching a free Doodlebug class soon.

I am almost through the inking video. Hoping to catch up with part II later in the week. Interesting that she is using the original Distress inks and not the Oxides. I might have to dust mine off...

She actually mentions that in one of the videos. She said that when Oxides came out, a lot of people got rid of their Distress inks. But she said that they both do different things, so keep them both!

But she said that they both do different things, so keep them both! I definitely see how the original distress inks work better for this technique - the transparency in layering is what makes it work. I only own about 15 distress inks but I think I can make what I have work for this. I do own all of the oxides, they're my favourite, but I'd never get rid of my distress inks for just such occasions.
