I hope tying the increase in the debt ceiling to disaster relief convinces Republicans in the Senate to vote for it, but I'm not optimistic. The hypocrisy of the Republicans refusing to vote to pay for the tax cuts for corporations that they voted for is unbelievable. And I have zero confidence the Republicans will prioritize the country and the economy over their mission to destroy President Biden. I don't like that our debt keeps going higher and higher. However, if we can't agree on what to spend on, we are even worse at agreeing on what to stop spending money on or how to bring in more revenue. It will get raised. The question is whether it will happen without a shutdown.
