Question of the day if someone has there tubes tied and a IUD what is the chances of them getting pregnant again?
Anyone know of someone this happened to?
Update: the test was negative. No new baby this summer. We are happy about it.

I have hear of one or the other but not both.
I am thinking that is a baby that really wants to be born.

Why would you have an iud when your tubes are tied? But I'd say the chances are pretty remote.

Why would you have both? Unless the IUD is there to control the periods, there is no need for further prevention methods once your tubes are tied. Tubal ligation is pretty much 100% effective.

And to answer the question, I'd think it would be next to impossible, but...

So you suspect you're pregnant?

Are you thinking that because of lack of periods or a pregnancy test? The iud can stop your periods, so you shold be fine.
Otherwise, I've read that a pregnancy that happens with an iud is very risky, you need to be seen asap

If you have a positive pregnancy test, I'd call the doctor immediately, to check for a tubal pregnancy. Good thoughts to you.

And to answer the question, I'd think it would be next to impossible, but... In the early days of tying tubes, the tubes were tied....and that is when failures happened (the tube untangled). Now, the procedure involves cutting a section of the tube out, as I understand it. If you really think you are pregnant, get to a dr. immediately....or at least take an at home test and find out.

Kicking?! I think that wanting to know what was causing that sensation is good enough reason to see your doctor...

I've heard of both of them failing, but not at the same time.
Good luck op! I'd be at the store for a test ASAP if I were you. Can you make an appointment either way to see what the issue is?

Are you sure it's kicks and not gas or muscle spasms? After having 3 kids I often feel a sensation that is similar to what it felt like when the baby first started kicking. However, usually when I feel that I pass gas shortly after. Or, it's just a muscle spasm. Or a phantom kick.
Good luck! I hope this turns out the way you want it to.

I was never pregnant though but there were many times I was convinced that I was. I had the same experience after I had my tubal. It was creepy and totally freaked me out! It's more common than one might think. (no, I wasn't pg, it was just some weird random thing but it totally felt like early baby movements)
