Selling - Made the decision this year to SELL items that haven't been used in over 2 years. Sold 90% of my Tim Holtz mixed media items. Also did a hard cull of all AE and SC kit items and have been selling those as well. Feels GOOD. Where are you selling AE/SC stuff? Project Life Shop and Swap 2.0 on Facebook

A buying year, for sure. I'm a wintertime scrapper. The rest of the year is for spending. I actually scrapped more this year than I usually do, right through spring I spent a bit more than usual too though, but still not so bad. Like kitbop said, it's therapeutic, and honestly I didn't spend anywhere as much as therapy copays would have cost.

It has been a using year for me, although I've still bought some new stuff. Doing the 50 layout until shopping challenge at the start of the year really kept me accountable, especially many times when I was tempted to buy but the thought of starting my layout count over forced me to put the brakes on.
I'd like to continue this using more than shopping thing next year. I had several years of buying way more than I was using, so I'm really glad the pendulum has swung back the other way at last. I'd still like to reduce my stash a bit more, so if a low or no spend thread pops up at the end of the year, as they typically do, I'll commit to that again.

I've purchased less and used more, but I still have a lot. Me, too. I stocked up in March, 2020 with adhesives and basic colors of cardstock. I have made an effort to use what I have, because I outgrew my storage.

I don't tend to shop much when I'm not scrapbooking very often. #newgoal That is not me. I'm in the shopping for therapeutic value camp, but I've gotten much better. So my mantra is ‘cut that paper & use it if that’s what you want!!!’ Just cut it, go ahead cut it, the world will not fall apart. I'm trying really hard to embrace this too. Use it while you still love it. It helps that when I did my big purge I got rid of stuff that I had loved and hoarded. A couple of years down the road, I didn't love it so much any more. It made me sad. I think of that every time I hesitate. For my 2020DD I actually cut into my favorite Christmas paper of all time from CP. I was both proud and horrified. Overall, I think this has been more a using year than a buying year for me. I only have one kit (Coco Daisy) now and that really helped. I've picked up an occasional order from SB.com and 3 kits from FJ this year. I do buy digital supplies every other month or so. I've started to realize I just don't use that much on a page. I love having all the pretties though.

It has definitely been a buying year. I should really go find that frozen thread and hold myself accountable.

It’s definitely been a buying year, but I’ve also scrapped a ton. I think as far as paper supplies & consumables go it has nearly evened out. But my stamps & inks have grown a bunch. I had very very little to begin with, so at this point my stash is probably still considered small by most! But I can’t continue acquiring at the rate I have or I’ll be overwhelmed.

Both. I sub to a lot of kits at cocoa daisy but I make time to scrapbook almost every day to justify the spending. I have made close to 25 travelers notebooks/mini albums this year. Scrapping is therapy for me. It really helps me focus on the good, enjoy time out with my fam bam (memories to scrap later lol) and we’ll…that’s it. But I don’t get my hair or nails done, I don’t buy makeup, I don’t like jewelry. I think it makes my family happy too, to flip through them. I hope when I’m gone they cherish my little notebooks. Queen Victoria journaled every day. This is my version of that. <3

Buying for sure. Therapeutic. I've added a significant number of inks - and that's spendy. Stamps and dies too - and I am using them like crazy! I've been more restrained with collections - I buy the ones I adore, and leave the ones that are "like" and below. Are you me? I have the exact same answer.

Good question! I would say both, but more on the "use it up" maybe? I moved across the country in January, and a lot of my stuff was in storage until July. I was able to "rescue" some things from the storage so I can scrap while I lived at my parents house, but I did do some shopping to fill in those gaps. Overall though I think I was pretty restrained and I used a lot of what I bought. Once I moved into my own place in July, I haven't bought hardly anything scrappy My goal for Sketchtember was to be frozen all month and see how much I actually can use. My stash doesn't appear to be diminishing, but after completing 25 layouts for Sketchtember, I am sure there is a dent in there somewhere.

I've done more scrapping in the last year than I had done in the previous 5 but I still bought more than I needed. I could probably go years without ever needing to purchase anything but adhesive, but where is the fun in that??

Buying. I witched from 12x12 to Project Life style scrapping this year and have sighed up for too many subs. I need to evaluate which ones I really use and cancel a few.

Use it up year. For I think 3 years now. That's how many supplies I have stacked around me from decades of crafting..... I've only been buying new if I need something for the 2 Peas card exchange.

My year was kind of mixed. Lots of shopping in the first half of the year, and not shopping much the rest. Definitely not use it up, I feel like I've barely scrapped this year.
I say every year I'm going to be frozen and fail, so I'm not making any commitments like that for next year. I'll commit to spending less next year than I did this year lol.

I say every year I'm going to be frozen and fail, so I'm not making any commitments like that for next year. I'll commit to spending less next year than I did this year lol. This is exactly me. My problem is paper, so I have decided that for next year, and likely the foreseeable future, I have to use two pieces of paper for every piece that I buy. My paper stash is overwhelming, so I am allowed to buy embellishments (because these actually help me use up my paper) but I will no longer be buying double sheets of paper just because I like it and might use it one day.

Buying. I'm a pretty newby scrapper, so I have been trying out different kits. I love Cocoa daisy colors/designs, but not to scrap with. I enjoyed 3 months of little mini books from Everyday Explorer Co, but didn't continue the sub. Now I have Scrapbook and Cards Today sampler starting in October, it will be fun to see what arrives. My impulse FYC Christmas kit said it was already shipping. I also pre-ordered a bunch of the Hearth & Home papers, that will go with my Cozy and Pieces of Home album I'm going to make. Between that project, DD, DITL, and finish up my bike trip album, I should have plenty to do this winter.

Definitely a buying year, but I’ve also finished up some older unfinished projects and gotten a lot of completed LOs into albums. I feel really good about that. It’s been stressful times, and buying is therapeutic. I’m proud of myself for finishing my 2020DD (I rarely finish before the next December, and still have many other years unfinished, but that’s ok - I’ll get to them). I’ve only successfully done a freeze one month (Jan), and then I buy everything I would have once the freeze was over, so that doesn’t really work for me. I want to scrap more to use things and try to slow the influx, plus I’m running out of space! I have been buying 6x6 pads more than full collections, which still gives me the pattern variety, but less space, cost, and leftovers to use up. Allison’s classes have helped there too.

Buying. The pandemic and close family bonding has been a lot! I don't think I've over done it though. The peas would have died at how little me and nylene bought at the AC warehouse sale. I mostly bought boring things like 8.5x11 cardstock. There were several packs of 25 packs of paper for really cheap, but it was all the same design. We split two.
I'm hoping to make a dent in my stash the rest of the year, but dumb little things keep happening that keep me from crafting.

I would say both for me. I'm counting how many pieces of patterned paper/cardstock I've used by keeping the cut off branding strips in a vase, and I just counted 141 strips! And I didn't start doing that until March or April of this year. Someone here gave me the idea to do that, and I'm pleasantly surprised, because it doesn't seem like I've made a dent in my stash LOL.
On the buying side, my money was mainly spent on dies and two Scrapbook and Cards cardmaking (October) and holiday (November) online crops. Those were expensive but worth it!

For me, both! I have picked up several newer collections that I love (the new Vicki B Fernwood collection is so beautiful! I only have the papers so far, but I love the designs!), but I’ve also created a ton of layouts this year.
I have at least a dozen layouts that still need journaling, and I hope to finish those in the next few weeks.

Both. I’ve bought less, used more, sometimes been in the freezer and shopped solely from my stash. I broke out of the freezer recently in a bigger way than I should have, but I’m trying to crawl back into the fridge. I really want to do more scrapbooking, which uses stash a lot faster than card making. Next year my goal is to craft more, and shop even less, but I don’t really plan to wait till next year. I want to start now, when I’ve been thinking about what changes I want to make. If I wait, I’ll just fall back into the bad habits again. This is me. I finished my 50 projects finally at the beginning of September, and let myself be unfrozen until October. Back in the freezer go I.

Neither. I’ve spent very little, and done very little. I focused 2021 on getting my stash unpacked, purged and all memorabilia and photos in our loft room, and then my father’s heart attack and death not even two weeks later had my husband turning the loft into a guest room while we were at the hospital. Everything I gathered so carefully has been shoved in random corners throughout the house. I haven’t touched anything since.
Some remote work changes have now given me the entire dining room as an office/craft space, so I’m hoping to bring everything downstairs, but I’m not sure where to start.

I've gone through spurts. I bought a lot when collections that I wanted came out and I've been working on using up some stuff. I picked up lots of inks but I look at those as investments. I've been itching to buy scrapbooking stuff for the past month but I didn't find anything that I had to have.

I realized I have enough holiday papers that I don't need to buy anything current. And that goes for Halloween and Christmas. I also have fall paper for fall outings.
I did buy some paper lines for dd and ds earlier this year and went to start using them. Took a break over summer to enjoy being outside but am back into the Grove.
So it will be a use it up season for me. Probably until spring 2022 when new lines come out.

The first half of the year was both. I bought quite a bit and made a lot of layouts. I had a very productive first half of the year. The second half of the year thus far has been a buying period, but I'm trying to be mostly frozen until the spring. I'm not creating much right now. "Real life" is a mojo killer sometimes. simplyparticular I'm so very sorry for your loss. It's hard to be creative when life is rough.

After the last month I seriously think I need to change my answer from a use it up year to a spend all the money year One of the online lss' has an owner's destash section and she was selling off some BG collection packs, so I added three of them to my cart (Oliver, Olivia, and Out of Print), in addition to the things I was already ordering. I pre-ordered a good chunk of the Cocoa Vanilla Christmas collection, and have a cart at sb.com which has the last couple of things I want for my DD along with albums for next year, and a few other things that I'm trying to convince myself I need (or not) before I buy. I swear, I'm going back into the freezer after this.
