Good morning! I know this is probably a long shot but…. My adult daughter is dealing with a case of hand- foot- mouth disease. Her toddler had it last week and now she has it😫. She is immune compromised and is in a good bit of pain from the rash on her hands and wrists. She says she feels like her hands are on fire. Her PCP didn’t have any suggestions for treatment- I think the symptoms are usually more mild but she is miserable while she waits for the virus to run its course. Has anyone dealt with a case like this? TIA.

My niece found relief with baking soda in her bath. She used about 1/2 cup and added 6 or so drops of lavendar.
I've also heard that Aveeno colloidal oatmeal baths are soothing.
I had chiggers on my ankles recently and it felt like not needles were being poked into me. I found slithering on calamine and wearing super thin snug cotton socks helped. The calamine helped dry them up, and the socks kept anything from brushing up against them as that brought my awareness to them and made the itching and burning worse. Maybe those thin cotton gloves you can get to wear at night with lotion to help heal dry hands would work.

Benadryl gel helps with my oak mite bites which both itch and are extremely painful.

It was straight calamine lotion...for some reason I thought there was like baking soda added to it to make it more like a paste.

If she has the sores in her mouth and throat, have her Dr write for Magic Mouthwash. It’s a mix of Benadryl, Milk of Magnesia and something else. We used to prescribe it for our chemo and radiation patients.

Our 10 year old dd contracted a horrible case of HFM this summer. The doc prescribed prednisone for her pain. We learned that an awful strain is running through our area and older kids and adults have been affected.

I also caught HFM recently from my toddler and it was way worse for me than her.
I just took ibuprofen for the pain. I had blisters in the back of my throat.

I didn’t realize that adults could even get it from kids. My DGD just had it s couple of weeks ago. I guess I was lucky because I didn’t catch it.

My stepkids brought it home from daycare in 2017. They had mild cases of it, my DH (who works in a hospital and is seemingly immune to most things, lucky guy ) didn't get it at all, but I got it and it was bad. I had spots everywhere, like flat chicken pox and they were all down my throat. The only bit of relief I could get for my throat was the Benadryl/Maalox "mouthwash" routine. Also, I didn't know it at the time, and maybe it's coincidental, but I was in the sun that weekend and it seems it made my rash worse. I had a few spots before being in the sun but then after I'd spent a few hours outside, I was literally covered in polka dots!!

Accumulated old 2peasrs remedies. Magic Mouthwash from the doctor is the way to go! They have a solution with lidocaine to swish in your mouth to help with the blisters in your mouth and throat. My kids had it as toddlers, but then a "super" version went around here a couple of years ago and they got it again, along with my husband. The lidocaine mouthwash was invaluable. My kids had this a few summers ago. They mostly had the bumps in their mouth. It is very painful. The only way my older child could eat was using a mouthwash of liquid Benadryl and Malox...equal parts. It numbed it enough for her to get something in her stomach. My kids had this in the spring. Poor babies. I just gave them advil as needed and avoided acidic foods.Chloraseptic is awesome, especially the lozenges. Try them for your mouth sores. That or oragel. You can also call your dentist...there is a benzocaine mouth rinse that you can get to help numb the sores in your mouth. When my son had it, we used a qtip to apply it, but with adults you can gargle it. My son was about 6 when he got it, bless his heart...his little feet hurt so much that he crawled around on his hands and knees for a couple of days. My kids had this in the spring. Poor babies.
