Just curious how you all feel about him. Would your opinion change if he actually aligns himself with one party or the other?

No, I most likely would not vote for him. I like him enough, but I want someone with some experience.
Edited: I could change my mind. But I really do not like celebrity candidates.

I would really need to hear more actual political substance from him before deciding. And it would depend on who else was running.

I’d much rather we get a Democratic candidate with experience and substance, but I’ll vote for whoever runs against Abbott. Protest votes/not voting in Texas are a de facto vote for Republicans.
If he runs as third party and splits the non-Republican vote, I will personally raise money to put up a billboard in Austin telling everyone that he’s a limp-dicked traitor weasel.

I haven't really been paying attention. Has it been speculated that he would run 3rd party? I thought he was pretty firm on the D side.

I don’t want to. He has no positions on anything, no experience. He’s local and well liked, nothing against him personally but I want a leader that’s more than than a personality or someone mainly bent on protecting their business interests. I will not vote for Abbott or any other Republican.

I think he also realizes that being a celebrity is NOT what being a governor is about.
He has no background in politics, and the politicians in this state will tear him up. He needs to smile, wave and sit down. I think he wants to and (perhaps Abbott's people) keep stirring the pot with his name. I am sure Greg Abbott would love for him to run as it would put another win in Abbott's column.

For people who think he's not being specific enough issues, I heard a very interesting story of when Arnold Schwarzenegger ran to replace Gray Davis for governor of California when Davis was being recalled.
After he announced he was running, he consulted at length with Senator Ted Kennedy. As you know, Arnie wife was Maria Shriver of the Kennedys so Arnie was part of the family. Although they were from opposite parties, Ted Kennedy advised him to keep it light on details until he got into office and then he could lay out the detail of his plans. Apparently Kennedy was well known for being very detail oriented but felt that when campaigning, he should not get into the nuts and bolts of things. Well, Davis was recalled and Arnie the GOP became Governor of a very blue state. If Arnie can be Governor.....

Socialist - wether it’s true or not you have to use the misused word they are all so afraid of.

As long as he runs as a democrat and has some good intentions - heck, I’d vote for his second cousin !

Welp, Twitter says now he has no interest in running. Hopefully it’s a moot point.
