Can you take anything for when the numbness wears off? I hope so! Sending lots of positive thoughts your way!

FINAL UPDATE: biopsy came back benign. A fatty deposit. Thank you everyone for your support! I really appreciated it.
Here is my question...why can't they tell that on an US...fatty, vs cancer? There has to be an easier way then going in and cutting out pieces, isn't there???

There has to be an easier way then going in and cutting out pieces, isn't there??? They can tell that it LOOKS LIKE a fatty tumor vs cancer, but they can't be 100% sure until it's biopsied. Naturally, they're going to make certain.

It is SO hard to tell, and as they said "The possibility of breast cancer is not something you want to mess with. You want to be sure of what you are dealing with so biopsy is the way to be certain."

Any tips? Is it as painful as an endometrial biopsy? I know they said they numb the area, but I don't see how with a foot long needle going in. It's an US guided one.
Thanks!

That's great news. Please do something nice for yourself and think of it as a relief gift.

They cannot tell the difference because cancer cells are just normal cells gone rogue. The difference between a cancer cell and a normal cell is that the cancer cell no longer just dies off in a normal life cycle pattern. It continues to grow and multiply abnormally fast (same for even slow growing cancers, they are still growing abnormally). They tend to collect calcium in a certain pattern so calcifications in case certain pattern can increase suspicion. But not even all cancers end up calcified. I remember my surgeon telling me how much mine looked like normal breast tissue so they couldn’t be sure they got the margins until the pathology came back. Take at the mammogram images on this page www.verywellhealth.com/mammogram-images-descriptions-and-details-4020351. and you may start to understand why it can be so difficult. Better to have many of these so called false alarms than to miss a some early cancers that could possibly kill someone.
