I want to make custom cards for a group of friends with our favorite song lyrics. I’m guessing I would buy an alphabet stamp set with lots of letters. Does anyone have a set they like that works well for this kind of thing? Is there another way of doing it that I’m not thinking of ?
Thanks!

Could you print them on a computer? Then you could die-cut them in some shape, like a tag.

I print from my computer on to inkjet friendly vellum. I cut the verse (usually to fit the inside of an A2 card), run it through a Xyron and adhere it. I like to use the Xryron because there is no visible adhesive from the front side.

I like the idea of printing and I hadn’t thought about vellum… I landed on stamping bc I wanted to something like embossing or foiling

If you really want to do embossing or foiling, it will probably be more time consuming than you expect, especially if you are planning to do more than a short phrase from the song. You will only be able to stamp a few words at a time, and even to do that will probably require at least two sets of whatever alphabet you want. Most have 2 or 3 of each of the most used letters.
It’s been years since I’ve bought alphabet sets, so I don’t know who sells them, and you might not like the same font styles, anyway, but if you want to fit song lyrics on a card, you’ll probably need fairly small alphabet stamps. The ones I have are pretty small, but even those might be too big for what you want. The ones I have are from My Sentiments Exactly. I don’t know if they are still in business or not. I’ve had these for a long, long time.

depending on the font and how many words - see if the office store can make you a stamp? They do personalised address stamps etc... and they aren't that expensive last time I looked

If you print on an inkjet printer on vellum (not inkjet vellum, regular vellum), the ink will stay wet long enough that embossing powder will stick to it and you can then heat emboss, just like you would with a stamp.
If you print on a laser printer, you can use Decofoil or Minc foil and a laminator to get the foil to transfer to the print (a Minc works better than a laminator, but if this is kind of a one-off project, you might not want to invest that kind of $$)
The WRMK Precision Press stamp positioner has a "typesetting" plate with slots in it and it comes with letter stamps that fit into the slots to let you set up a return address, etc - it comes with several of each letter, but I don't know that it would still have enough of everything for your lyrics, and you would need to spend about $30 to get the press itself and another $15-$20 for the typesetting plate and alphabet (although the typesetting plate would probably work as a stand-alone stamp).

I like the idea of printing and I hadn’t thought about vellum… I landed on stamping bc I wanted to something like embossing or foiling If you have an ink jet printer, you can heat emboss on vellum. First print on a sheet of copy paper. tape the vellum over where the print is. Print. The ink takes a few minutes to dry, so immediately remove the page from the printer, sprinkle on some detail embossing powder, and heat.
If you have a laser printer, you can put foil over it and run it through your Minc or similar machine.
Sorry cbet, I hadn't seen your post when I put my own response together. Great minds think alike!

I was also going to say print with a laser printer (or print and copy with a copy machine that uses toner) and then foil. I'm happy to have learned about heat embossing on vellum - I might even remember and try that someday I usually take the easy option and just print on my home printer. Stamping letters individually is verrrrrry tedious and it's really easy to screw up and ruin something you've spent hours on.

Sorry cbet , I hadn't seen your post when I put my own response together. Great minds think alike! No worries - I didn't include actual instructions with mine! I think when I did it (which was a long, long time ago), I had vellum that fed thru my printer ok without taping it to copy paper. But I remember hovering over the printer so that I could get the embossing powder on right away! I was making belly bands for some invitations, and the final result absolutely did not look homemade
