I ordered on line "Neenah Paper Exact Index Card Stock, Smooth 110lb, 94 Bright, 8½ x 11, White, 250 Sheets". I bought 2 @ $7.50 + shipping. What I got feels like cheap business card material. What I want is heavy cardstock. When I go to the stores, they say they are out of stock. I need to know what to search for.

Yes - "index" is flimsy. you want "cover".
You have to look at the "GSM": 74 GSM is copy paper 176 GSM is LIGHT cardstock 199 GMS is INDEX CARDSTOCK 216 GSM is Neenah solar white, 80lb, good for copics but still a little light for card bases 271 GSM is 100lb cardstock (called cover cardstock) (I like this for multipurpose) 325 is 120 lb cardstock (I like this for sturdy cardbases)
My go-to is Accent Opaque on Amazon. A youtuber recommended it as a money saver, and now I see Jennifer Mcguire is also using it! They have all the different thicknesses, but also have a chart so you know what you are getting.

Another fan of the Accent Opaque. It's not just that it's a nice, heavy weight - the cardstock somehow feels stiffer than other brands of the same weight. I don't know if I'm imagining it or not

Jennifer McGuire has a great video showing the various Neenah’s.

I just ordered Accent Opaque White, says it'll be here Thurs., which is fine because I'll be busy tomorrow. I guess this on-line shopping is OK, but I sure miss going to the store and getting it NOW! I also like the touchy-feely aspect, because returns are just a hassle.

The Accent Opaque White was delivered today. It is a good weight, but I wish it had some texture to it. Now that I know the difference between lb and gsm I will have a better understanding of what to look for, thank you kitbop.

I so miss the days of having a lss where you could go in and see products in real life, touch them, and compare the different types of cardstock. It's important to have that tactile experience and (so far) online shopping just doesn't fill that need. Don, I'm glad you posted about this and that you rec'd these helpful responses. Glad to have this information.

It is a good weight, but I wish it had some texture to it. I'm sorry - I should have mentioned this stuff is smooth like the Neenah! They even have a "super smooth" variety - I just bought the 80 lb super smooth to use with my copics and with die cutting. Liking it.

You wanted Neenah Classic Crest rather than Exact Index. 110 Exact Index has a gsm of 199 and Classic Crest is 297. But it will cost much more than Exact Index, which is sold in big box office supply stores. I have Accent that I use but not for bases. Another really nice cardstock though it feels just a little lighter than the Neenah Classic Crest 110 is the cardstock SCT has just begun selling after their 3-day card making event. It's even a bit whiter than Neenah Solar White, and very smooth. www.jennifermcguireink.com/2017/12/favorite-crafty-things-2017-paper-adhesive.html/comment-page-5 Besides the video a couple of articles are there.

I'm not sure if you're stamping but Gina K Designs Pure luxury 120lb is my favorite.

Is Gina K a Stampin Up rep, or does she have her own line, or is she an on-line store?

She's a "Brand"? Isn't that like being famous for being famous? I do like her. Whenever I see one of her you tubes, I will watch the whole thing, because it's like she is talking to me personally.
