Hi folks. Today your challenge is... Work with a monochrome color scheme - pick a color and choose some other shades and colors close to it on the color wheel. You can add another color like I did with the leaves, either for realism or just to break things up a bit. And of course black white grey neutrals are fair game. But try keeping the colors really limited and see what you come up with. Cardtober challenge 13 by jo.blackford, on Flickr As always with these color challenges you can use coloring or cardstock or patterned paper or whatever makes you happy. I colored the flowers with the same shades I had already used on the bee, and then I picked a similar shade of background paper and stamped some texture just a little darker. The twist is to use a handmade stamp or element somewhere on your card. I carved my own background stamp using material similar to eraser rubber, just lots of wonky long lines to look woodgrain-ish. You could use a craft knife and an eraser, you could use some kind of foam cut and attached to an acrylic block, tie string around an acrylic block, potato print… or hand draw and cut a shape, handwrite a sentiment, something you would normally buy a fancy version of but DIY it. If that doesn’t fit your style/supplies at all feel free to skip the twist. A video with some ideas for DIYs: You might notice that I’m using the same sunflower stamp/kit as last time. I *might* manage to do all of my challenges using the same supples, which I think is a fun challenge too. If I’d planned things better I would’ve written that up as a separate challenge! But since I didn’t add 5 bonus points if you use many of the same supplies (dies, paper collection, whatever) as the first color challenge I did last week. Points for team members: just the monochrome challenge 2 points, just the twist 1 point, challenge & twist together 8 points (= 2 +1 +5 + whatever points you get from making sharing etc) + 5 more for using the same supplies as last Tuesday. So I would take 12 for easy peasy + 8 for the challenge + 5 for same supplies = 25 points

joblackford , Thank you for the monochrome challenge. I love how your cards use the same image but have a different mood from the colors. Your coloring and shading is professional and perfect. I used the same snowflake die cut, background mat and embossing powder as challenge #6.

Cool, lots of points 🤣 Lovely card as always joblackford. Love this stamp and stencil set you are using, I didn't buy this kit, but I like how versatile is. Cool background stamp. jjpeapea, you are on a roll. Beautiful snowflake ❄ card. Love your snowflakes they are just so detailed. Who makes them?

Fun challenge, joblackford. beautiful card. Great twists! Dgs and I played around with stamping bubble wrap a few weeks ago. It had pretty big bubbles, so I was planning to use it on a page. Need to keep my eye open for something smaller for cards... Hmmm... Teal/blue is my favourite monochrome choice for winter cards, jjpeapea. And your delicate snowflakes are really pretty, especially with the embossing.

And great job using the same supplies in a different way Thank you for the sunflower love. I need to learn to see my coloring with fresh eyes - it looks much better looking at it now than when I did it. I was able to use the layered stencil from the kit as a bit of a guide for where my shading should go which was helpful.

joblackford , your card is stunning, and I am really impressed by your handmade stamped background! jjpeapea , your snowflake card is lovely. Your heat embossed elements are beautiful and really give the feeling of snow and frost. I started with a cut apart card, then added banners and Nuvo drops. I made the 3D flowers and leaves. I love Heartfelt Creations products for making your own flowers. They make it so easy, and it’s great if you want flowers that are a unique color. I haven’t bought flowers for years.

I was making these cards, and when I saw your challenge I decided to make the blue/silver/black version - hard for me not to pop red all over it! But it turned out to be my favourite of the set. cards joy ornaments by kirstendrew, on Flickr

I think the monochrome version is my favorite too although I love the lime green joy too. I love this joy/ornament design - is is a cut file or a die? It’s looks like a fun one for playing with color

It's a stand alone die from simon says stamp - one of my christmas purchases last year. I paired it with the J and Y from a Pretty pink posh stamp/die set that I bought 2 years ago and haven't used.

joblackford, thank you for this challenge. I enjoyed watching the video of using paper towels. You have love in the gallery. jjpeapea, your flurry of snowflakes make such a beautiful card. I love the variety of shapes and colors. The sentiment couldn’t be more fitting. scrapnnana, your fall card is gorgeous. I love the oranges and yellows and the touches of green to match the leaves. Great flowers! Beautiful work. kitbop, I love your cards. You have love in the gallery. Here is mine: I did black and grays with white. I used the inside of a bubble wrap envelope as my twist element. I hoped it would turn out with little dots, but my bubbles were too flat. They turned into bubbly lines from top to bottom. I used clear embossing powder. I think I like the look of it. I'm not sure you can see it well in a photo. Monochromatic Thank you

scrapnnana I had to look up the flower creating kit and I see that it is a mold. Wow your flowers look so good, I really had thought they were from some of the jars of flowers I’ve seen. Your card is lovely. kitbop I do like the silver one a lot but they all look so good. Clever to use it for the o with letters from another set. All those pieces give such a pretty effect. nylene yes! I do like the effect of the string of bubbles. The shiny effect makes it more visible. Very elegant and pretty. iowagirl50147 I like how you have so many patterns in different shades of the same color. Your sparkly embellishments are very pretty.

Little dots would've been fun but this turned out really cool too. I bet no one would be able to guess how you achieved that background. I have some heart shaped bubble wrap, just a small piece that I've tucked away from a package shipped from Hong Kong, and some day I will get around to printing with it. I'm hoping it will turn out fun. I never thought of being able to heat emboss the design. I'll try to remember that! And the clear on black is so cool. I might be able to make some fun ghost cards with that and a bit of ink blending perhaps...

kitbop, your ornament cards look fabulous. The ornament design makes me think of stained glass. nylene, your bubble wrap and heat embossing gives it a unique and wonderful texture. It’s a very striking card with the black, grays, and white. iowagirl50147, I love your pumpkin, and how you used different papers for the sections. Your jeweled flourish is beautiful, too.

scrapnnana such a lovely card. Love the soft colors and your hand made flowers and leaves. kitbop beautiful cards. Love the blue and black one. nylene your bubble wrap twist is genius, it looks cool. Love the texture of it. I die cut my snowflake die from fun foam to create a stamp and used it to stamp my background for the twist. I used the same blue stamp pad, holographic cs, stamps and dies from the first challenge. 20211018_193157-01 by Azcrafty, on Flickr
