I was inspired by some autumnal cards by Mona Toth that used yellows and pinks and browns. Here are a couple of examples of the color scheme that's your challenge this Wednesday: http://instagram.com/p/CTw7yo6MOji http://instagram.com/p/CT7jvb8sxlp If you’re a hardcore pink hater you can substitute with orange, aqua or purple. And remember it’s just a starting point. I didn’t have the browns I had in mind so my leaves turned out looking a bit green, and some of my colors didn’t quite work like I had planned. But that’s OK, I challenged myself (and I was working on this at the last minute so I had to make it work!) and I encourage you to just go for it I had this purple background on my desk so when I messed up the brown and pink background I was trying to make I used that instead. I will add a few enamel dots in the morning. Apologies the lighting isn't the best, I ran out of day. Cardtober color challenge 20th by jo.blackford, on Flickr The twist is to disregard realism and use the “wrong” colors. I guess this might be tricky if you aren’t doing coloring but hopefully you can give it a shot somehow. I managed to use the same kit again! I had a sample I had heat embossed over yellow ink so I just added different colors with the layering stencils. 5 bonus points if you use many of the same supplies (dies, paper collection, whatever) as in one of my previous color challenges.

I love Mona Toth! Her coloring is always so impressive and sometimes unexpected. Cool challenge joblackford . I made this card last night while I still had all my supplies out from your last challenge. I just changed up my colors, I really like it how it came out. Pink, orange and brown snowflakes! Who knew they can be so pretty?! I colored my vellum light pink. CARDtober 2021 by Azcrafty, on Flickr

I definitely wouldn't have thought of pink yellow and brown snowflakes for Christmas but it's gorgeous. The colors work together really well and the big shiny sentiment is such a star. I love that color. Thanks for jumping right in And yes, her autumn colored Christmas cards caught my eye too. I love that she just uses the colors she enjoys.

I hadn’t really thought of using pink for fall before, joblackford, but it makes sense. Some autumn leaves are more pink than red. Confession: this is the first time I have ever heard of Mona Toth. Thanks for bringing her to my attention. These cards are delightful. azcrafty, your winter cards with the fall colors are gorgeous. I never would have thought to do that.

Here’s my card based on the color scheme. I should have put a little more of the colors (in the paper design below) into the wreath, but I don’t have time to redo it.

azcrafty I enjoyed seeing this card after seeing your other Sending Christmas Joy card. You used the non traditional colors so very well. The colors catch the eye and make it special. scrapnnana I enjoyed the colors - you used them so well. I enjoyed the layers and the seamless combination of stamps and die cuts. joblackford thank you for the color challenge and the examples. Also eye catching because of the different use of colors. Mine is heavily inspired by a card artist named Livia Lau.

Those enamel dots adds so much intrest...nice touch and I like how you group them together. I really struggle with enamel dots! I tried to move the big one on the left because I remembered some advice to start with the biggest one near the thing you're drawing attention to and get smaller as you get further away, but it wouldn't budge from where I'd slapped it to fill in a big gap. I'm learning that once things are finished they look better even if they're not quite right so I'm trying to be bolder with my decisions.

joblackford , your card is beautiful. I love what you have done with that stamp. Regardless of how you color it, or leave it uncolored, your cards are always so lovely. I left love in the gallery. Thank you for all of the challenges this month. azcrafty , I love the pinks in your background as well as in the snowflakes. You have love in the gallery. scrapnnana , your card is so dainty. I love the wreath and your floral cluster on it. Great use of the pumpkin and more falling leaves. This is so beautiful. jjpeapea , your leaves are beautiful and so varied. I love the stitching at the top and the dainty pink bow is a wonderful accent. Lovely card. Here is mine. This was a tough challenge for me, but I was happy with it when I finished. The pink leaf is much pinker in person. It looks almost brown, but it is reddish and pink. Fall Leaves Thinking of you.

I love fall leaves and those are beauties! Did you use dies or a cut file? Glad I could challenge you but that you were happy with it in the end! That's how I felt about this one too.

That's how I felt about this one too. Thanks, joblackford . The leaves were a cut file that I have had for years. I don't even know where I got it. I remember using it with my old Wishblade years ago. I probably downloaded it from the internet.

Ryann so well done! I love that you stamped and then put die cuts over it. And your faux stitching makes it look so polished. I love the balance in your elements. Your colors worked out great, a great response to the challenge. nylene I love your cut file. Your computer must be so organized to find a cut file from so long ago. The woodgrain and the foil make your card very special.

nylene, your card is stunning. The mat right behind the leaves looks textured. Whether it is or not, it really highlights the leaves, especially with the gold mat behind the “textured” layer. To me, the reddish/pink leaf does not look brown at all. Each of the leaves is very distinctive, and the leaves all go beautifully together.

My pinks got a little orange... No worries. That's a beautiful card! Did you smoosh your inks first and then die cut it? I love the die too, so pretty. Thanks for playing
