In or out, I don't care. I'll keep wearing them. lol Me too! I love scarves. I tend to buy a lot of solids and my scarves add interest to an otherwise boring outfit. I used to wear them to work at my last job. The first day I started there, I had on a favorite scarf. Toward the end of the day my new boss asked me where I got it. I told her. She ended up mentioning that she tried three different stores and couldn't find it. I just happened to be in my store the following week and found one exactly like mine. I took a chance and bought it for her as a favor. She was thrilled. What I didn't expect is that she then asked me about my skirts and jackets too. She began building a wardrobe that was matching mine. That felt weird. And more than once I arrived at work to see her wearing my same clothes. But she was my boss. What could I say? Fortunately one of the skirts that she copied was a reversible one from Coldwater Creek. When I arrived at work to find her in it, I just went to the restroom and reversed mine. And on the days that she was wearing the same scarf and I was, I removed mine. Was I being courteous? Yes. Was I irritated? Yes! That IS weird. But they say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I suppose she loved your look, which is a rather nice feeling. I think this is more about style than fashion. I'm no expert in either, but I prefer style over fashion these days. Fashion is about feeling good about how you look by following the herd, but style is about looking your best independent of what everyone else has on. Scarves fall into that category; people who look good in them will wear them whatever is in the high street shops, and people who don't, won't wear them even if everyone else is.

I’ve been wondering this as well. In 2018-2020 or so , I wore a scarf pretty much every day during the winter. I had so many of them. Last year I found myself skipping them and don’t think I wore one the whole winter. I don’t recall seeing many people on social media wearing them or as many irl, either (although socialization was limited). I like the patterns of my scarves but do think they add a little too much bulk for me. I’m going to keep some of my favorites but get rid of quite a few.

I’m short, broad shouldered, with a big chest, and no neck. Scarves are not my friend. But I wish they were! I love the way they look on other people.

I’m another who uses bright colors or patterns to make a simple top or dress more interesting. And I love them with coats.
I have narrower shoulders, so a pashmina or blanket scarf thrown over them works well.
I don’t have the neck for some of the scarf looks I see, though.

I can’t imagine living that.

I love the look of scarves and think they can add so much to dress up certain outfits BUT I just can't wear them. I last for about half an hour and then I start to get claustrophobic and need it off.. Even in our Ottawa winters I very rarely wear a scarf

Some types of scarves are timeless classics. Someone tell Hermes that scarves are “out”, lol. But definitely length/bulk/print makes a difference. I like some that I have and I’m retiring a few others. But it’s pretty hard to get through a CT winter without wearing a scarf indoors and out! I have a real passion for Hermes scarves, and own several. They are pieces of art. I love wearing them!

They are still popular in Europe. Everyone here wears a scarf. It was 65 degrees last week—I don’t know how they can stand it! One of our Turkish ladies had a blanket scarf on in class last Monday. She got several compliments and I thought it was really cute. Same here in Morocco. I never really wore scarves until I moved here. We are about to enter the winter/rainy season and scarves just keep you warm and snuggly, IMO. I could possibly have two billion scarves....I actually have TWO drawers in my closet that are JUST scarves. I have sometimes worn two at a time, if it is really cold. I have some gorgeous designed ones that I will pair with a solid color scarf. I also tend to wear solid colors, so I love how scarves give me some flair!

Lordy, I hope scarves aren't out since I own eleventy billion of them and wear them every day. 😄This is the first time I've seen someone use eleventy billion outside of Mumsnet.
