On a recent post here i was reading about how many of you like Williams Sonoma Peppermint bark at Christmas. Went to their website. Really? $28 a pound?!?! It is that good? Does anyone have a recipe? Because $28 a pound ain't happening...

It is very good! But, I think they always drop the price. I think I usually pay about $20 a box or maybe it is $28 or 2 for $40. I hVe never paid full price.

This is the recipe I make. Very easy
INGREDIENTS
12 ounces semi sweet chocolate chips 12 ounces white chocolate (with cocoa butter) 1 ½ teaspoon peppermint oil crumbled peppermint candy canes
DIRECTIONS
Melt semisweet chocolate on a lined cookie sheet, place in fridge
Melt white chocolate in a bowl, add peppermint oil
Spread on cooled semisweet chocolate
Sprinkle crumbled peppermint candy canes on top
Gently press candy canes into white chocolate. Put in fridge to harden.

Costco has its own version too. We've bought a pack but haven't opened it.
We used to buy WS every year, but $28 has gotten way too expensive!

It really is that good, but I think it's gotten really expensive over the years. It was $15 a decade ago. I like it better than Costco's because W-S's bark is less overtly minty.
I made my own last year and it's very easy. I don't put the peppermint flavor in the base. I like the creamy chocolates and the little bite of peppermint from the crushed candies.

The Ghirardelli peppermint square are really good too. You can buy bags of them anywhere. Yummy!

I saw some at Trader Joe's yesterday, but didn't check the price. I think I'll try making it this year.

It is good. I always wait until after the holidays and buy it half price.
Glad to read about the Costco brand. We are heading to Costco in a few minutes and I'll definitely look for it.
ETA: Well. I'm back from Costco and my Costco doesn't carry it. Bummer.

To me, it really is that good. I bought the 2 lb. box yesterday and couldn't wait to get it home.

It is really good, but if I get it I only buy it on sale. A basic recipe will also serve you well if you find really good chocolate.

Costco's is good, but not as good as William Sanoma's in my opinion. I never buy it though--I'd rather spend $28 on premium chocolate.

I've never tried WS because I can't believe anything is better than the Fannie May version!

bigbundt that's what I buy to satisfy the peppermint bark craving. I bought the Costco stuff one year, and I inadvertently took extra large amounts because the pieces were so big. The squares are perfect portions.

A couple family members would be very sad if we couldn't get.

I made it one year but the white and dark chocolate didn't hold together. The layers separate.
