As summer heats up, I thought I would post my annual PSA for a product that has been a lifesaver for me. I take daily insulin, which is temperature sensitive. It has a temperature recommendation of 82 degrees or less to keep it from degrading. The hotter the insulin gets, the faster it will degrade, so it is VERY important to keep at below 82. My doctor recommended a product a couple of years ago called Frio. It contains the beads that absorb water and turn to gel to keep your product cool, down to about 68 degrees. It has been a lifesaver for me. It may seem a little expensive at first but they last a very long time (I have had mine for 2 years). I've even thought of making them myself since there are beads like it that you can buy, but I worry about the quality of the bead (like medicinal vs. industrial grade) and having it next to my medication. Anyway, here are two places they are available: coolerconcept.com/productsfrioinsulincoolingcase.com/I hope the info is helpful in some way
