grammadee I hope you have a great time at the craft fair. I think I will check it out Sunday because I have Crop & Create Holiday Saturday. kitbop here is the Jennifer McGuire video. I had a quiet day at work. Between shut downs for Covid back in October, elders' funerals, and snow days, my students haven't gotten in a rhythm of attending classes. I don't know if I mentioned it, but Dean and I put our outdoor Christmas lights up on Sunday, just before we got all the snow. We probably won't turn them on until December, but it's nice to have something checked off the list. Sending hugs to nylene, kellyr21, and anyone else who wants or needs one.

Yay for good Cody updates joyfulnana! justjac - thank you so much for the e-mail; I haven't printed it out yet (I think I'll do it at work on the laser printer. I might try foiling them. And I think if I use my inkjet it will smudge if I watercolour?) . I have no idea how I missed that video. I watch almost all of hers. Before bed. While falling asleep. I may have nodded off during this one It's on tonights watch list! grammadee - aren't embossed backgrounds the BEST! It adds so much, with so little effort! Great use of those shapes for impact. Turns out DH's work schedule has been changed to Sunday - Thursday for the next 3 months. Which means we only get 1 day off/week together. So Saturdays may be harder for me to join the online crops if I want to do anything family related! I don't know which is more important to me...you guys, or DH I guess I could join the late crop after DH goes to bed!

I wanted to pop in and say hi! I have one more day off before having to work my 3 12 hour shifts. I have been a little more awake today but been dragging a bit. My husband has been wanting to organize things better. I am for it but it seems we never have the same energy on the same day! I had been wanting a Nintendo Switch and got one a couple of weeks ago. I have been addicted to Animal Crossing. That hasn’t helped in me getting things done around the house! LOL! I was excited today that I was able to get coconuts on a mystery island and bring them back to plant them on my island. I have the companion book from the library to help me along.
A friend found a crop not very far that is the end of January. I was able to get time off work and we are all signed up! I have been making a list pages to do. I definitely need to get an album started about Zoe. I hope to have layouts planned so I am can be productive!
Zoe is fitting in good! Her and Phoebe have been taking naps together. The kitties are doing a little better and we have some moments of all 4 of us on the bed. Sophia, one of my cats, really likes the bed I made her in my closet. Lola has always loved the cat perch in the extra bedroom that she sleeps on. I still will hear occasional hissing but it is getting less. I am taking Phoebe and Zoe to see Santa next Saturday. I usually bring my cats too but with Zoe being new to the family, I wasn’t sure how the kitties would act. I thought I would spare Santa any extra drama!
I am relaxing at the coffee shop and need to figure out about dinner. I get tired of being asked what is for dinner. We usually have pizza on Sunday’s.
I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving this week!

love the cards grammadeekitbop - that's a shame about your DH's schedule knutschen - so glad Zoe is fitting in DD15 was camping this weekend so we spent Friday evening and this morning driving - so not as much accomplished as I would have hoped. I do have the christmas presents for my sister and her family made/bought and wrapped. Just need to finish an ornament for them. Almost done with the presents for my best friend also. Those are the two boxes that I need to mail and want to get out by next weekend. We took our oldest kitty, Midnight, to the vet on Friday because he's been having pee accidents and we were worried it was a UTI or something. Vet said...behavourial, sigh. So I've been steam cleaning the living room carpet frequently. We might end up putting up baby gates to keep him off the carpet - the other cats will be able to get over easily enough but Midnight is 18-20 (we're not exactly sure) and not as limber as he once was. Tomorrow I'm working on holiday cards - mostly addressing and signing at this point but a few still need finishing touches - and some sewing projects. I also need to order photos and pull together supplies for my December Documented - I bought an album and a paper pad but need more page protectors and to sort embellishments out.

grammadee, your cards are beautiful. I always love an embossed background. Alex likes to help do that and calls it "making pretty papers". I'm glad you are doing well since your surgery. kitbop, I am sorry about your DH's work schedule. That makes it difficult to hop online to chat. It seems there is always something going during those chatting times lately. We did a zoom with the Calif. kids on Sat. so I missed that one. It was really fun to see the grands and watch some of their musical talents but I would have enjoyed scrapping with the peas too. knutschen, so nice to see you. It sounds like your Zoe is fitting in nicely. My DH likes to do projects together too, and our energy levels never seem to match when it's time to get started. Does your DH work the same hours you do? I hope things are going well at your hospital. Ours are very full of Covid. justjac, it must be hard to teach when you don't know how many students/or if you will have student each day. I'm glad you have had some time to scrap and enjoy Dee's company. Congrats on getting your Christmas lights up. Linda, I wish I were as prepared for Christmas as you are. I'm slowing getting things done, but need to get past Thanksgiving first. I'm sorry your Midnight is having troubles. Is he feeling neglected? I am trying to get a huge batch of cookies made today and I still have laundry to do. I'll be back later or later in the week. Hugs to all the Pokeys near and far!

Happy Tuesday! Hoping you are all happy and healthy and finding some kind of balance between things you have to do and things you want to do. I am really happy that Canadian Thanksgiving was over a month ago. Nothing now until Christmas. Good to hear from you knutschen. Do you switch back and forth from day shift to nights? Even with always returning to the same shift, a set of 12-hour ones must take their toll. Hard to do much more than recover between shifts, let alone take on projects. kitbop, I hope you and your dh can adjust amicably to his new shift. Will your dd be driving herself to school and work now? joyfulnana, I saw your fun LO’s in the Gallery. So THAT’s what a weekend alone creates! And justjac, you must have been a creative whirling dervish this month! So many projects from the SCT events! I have not yet quite caught up with comments in the Gallery. I don’t quite have enough cards completed. Have an idea for another set. If I can cut the pieces this evening, maybe I can assemble tomorrow. Feeling a little more on top of Christmas shopping. Got some gifts last Friday. Have a bunch of orders coming in to me and a couple of ddil’s from Amazon.ca. Most should arrive by December 2nd. There is a local craft sale this weekend, so hoping to grab a few things there. Have “the letter” at the local newspaper office for printing. Managed to get some baking done today. Dh had a truck repair appointment in town so was gone all morning, so I mixed up the dough to pop into the fridge for rolled cookies tomorrow, and made a big batch of butter tarts for freezing.

I am sure you USA peas are busy getting ready for Thanksgiving. I think I am almost ready. I still need to do some vacuuming and dusting, but all my floors are scrubbed and my kitchen is clean. I can finish up the cooking in the morning and be ready when the troupes arrive at about noon. grammadee, my cards are all ready but need the little extras added. I hope to get the international ones in the mail on the 26th. I hope you got all your finished. Wishing each of you wonderful friends a very Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow!

Good Morning! And Happy Thanksgiving to the US peas! I hope you each have a wonderful day with family in person or online! I'm so thankful for each one of you! I'm having the kids here so I'm up to my eyes in preparations. I'm not sure why I thought cooking would be the thing to do this year. Right now I miss my fridge full of Bob Evans containers waiting to be heated! I'll be back later to catch up with everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone celebrating today. We had our meal mid-afternoon and DS30 joined us via video chat. His timing was off so he was having appetisers while we ate - we'll have dessert while he has dinner in a bit.
Cooking got off to a rough start - I made cranberry tart last night and realised while it was baking that the eggs were still sitting on the counter. So I had to remake it this morning. And I managed to spill all the raw turkey juices on the counter and floor - gosh what a nasty mess that was. So my kitchen got an extra bleaching. And I managed to knock a plate from the dish drainer into the sink and it split perfectly in two - at least that clean up was easy. But after those three strikes, everything else went smoothly and I have the turkey carcass in the crockpot simmering for broth.

Happy THANKSGIVING! I hope all of you who are celebrating have had and continue to have a wonderful day. Glad you are having a houseful, nylene and joyfulnana. I LOVE having our home filled with family and friends, and am quite willing to do some cooking to make that happen. House cleaning, not so much... Thoughts are with you, gramma as your family absorbs the reality of your brother's illness. Hoping this weekend gives people a chance to share the burden, and maybe share some laughs as well as you remember all the past family holidays. Please excuse me, Linda, if I smile--after I grimace of course--reading about your cooking woes. It's always fun to watch the sitcom episodes this time of year, and some of the dramatic series that use cooking disasters as comedy relief, but it is never fun when it is happening in your kitchen! I am glad you got to visit with your ds and virtually share your holiday meal. And I hope you have a day of left overs and relaxation tomorrow. Our family's turkey disaster story happened at least a couple of decades ago at Christmas. Our base family for a holiday was a dozen, including us and our four kis, dh's sister and her two, plus his parents. Then there were often extra neighbours invited, sometimes a girlfriend or two, so we were usually feeding at least 16 people. That year I expected even more--somewhere around 20 people. And the oven element died right after I put the bird in!!! I didn't realize until a few hours later. My sil and mil always contributed to the meal, but I dispatched my dh with a 30 lb turkey to his sister's house. She then sent him to their mom's with a couple of casserole dishes, which arrived just after my mil pulled out the apple pies from HER oven. The turkey ended up cooking of course, but it was four hours later than planned, so we made a meal of everything else at supper time, and then had hot turkey buns with gravy at 10:00PM! I had in-store pick-up for a couple of orders in the next town today, so I got to do a little Christmas shopping. Some of the stores had some good Black Friday deals, so I was able to get some nicer gifts than I had planned for the same price I budgeted for a few people on my list. Also picked up my Christmas letter all printed and tickets for dh and me to attend a couple of holiday brunches over the next couple of weeks. Oh and I got my B12 shot. Was home by 2:00PM but felt like I had put in a full day, so spent the rest of the afternoon watching Curling on TV. Most of my purchases are still in the vehicle, but I can bring them in tomorrow. Hope this works. Wanted to send you a giggle:

grammadee - it's fine to laugh - I'm sure we'll be laughing about it in the future also. I have sympathy for you with the oven element story - one year my stove died right before Christmas and I was busy trying to figure out how to cook everything with a crockpot but DH came home with a new stove on Christmas Eve afternoon and saved the day. Since then, I bought an electric roasting oven and the turkey goes in there - but my 20-lb-er was about the max size for it. Sounds like you had a busy day!

Linda, your Thanksgiving sounds like it began like mine. I started cookies for the grands on Tues. and put the first batch in the oven. I thought they seemed a little softer dough than usual. I opened the oven to find one large, very flat cookie that filled the pan. I had doubled the recipe but only put in half the flour. I added the flour and started cooking the rest, then I scraped and scraped and scraped the pan and washed it. It was burned on! The floured cookies were fine. Thanksgiving morning I got up to start the bird. It had been frozen solid but had been in the fridge since Friday night. Believe it or not, one side of it was still frozen solid. I tried thawing it in cold water, but could see that it wouldn't be ready in time. So we ran to the store to get a fresh turkey....which was also frozen, but not so solid. By the time we got home the turkey had been in water in the sink long enough that I could see we would be able to thaw the side of it, so we put the new one in the fridge for cooking today. The turkey turned out fine and if I hadn't told anyone, they wouldn't have been the wiser. Tonight I plan to put the 2nd turkey in the oven and we will have lots of frozen turkey in our freezer for sandwiches. The kids all played games, laughed and had a great time. DH and DSIL spent a couple of hours in the shop and it was a wonderful day after all. I hope everyone else's Thanksgiving was less eventful.

Oh nylene... Glad everything turned out in the end. As kitbop would say, that is another "wrinkle in the twinkle!" Or a couple of them! And you managed to pull it off without anyone knowing! Seems like when I am experiencing one of my kitchen disasters I can almost count on someone coming into the house just then. Splat! Cue the witnesses... We really should write a book!

((((Hugs)))) nylene - glad it all worked out in the end I'm starting to feel behind. I had wanted to get packages and cards mailed today but the packages aren't quite ready and I'm still writing out cards. Tomorrow is the start of Advent so I need to take down fall/Thanksgiving and pull out the Advent stuff - I did move all the boxes that were blocking the door to the Christmas closet in the garage yesterday. We mostly worked on sorting out DH's boxes in teh garages again - getting closer to done with I think. DD mowed most of the yard before the mower dropped a belt - that's on next Saturday's to do list.

We had something traumatic happen on Thanksgiving morning at work. A lady from housekeeping was bringing us new linens for the day and she yelled from the elevator that someone was unresponsive. Several of us went running and right away didn't realize who it was. The nurse that got there first yelled she didn't have a pulse so we called a code overhead and started coding her. Then we realized it was a day shift nurse coming for her shift. We got her pulse back and got her sent to the ER. I got a phone call later that she passed away from a massive brain bleed from an aneurysm. The crisis team at work has been meeting with us. They even came in on Thanksgiving. It has been nice to talk to co-workers that were there that morning. Just so sad. She was only 59 and such a good person. nylene - My husband works day hours and I work nights. So, he thinks I should be up on my days off but half the time I can't sleep at night and drag a little. I know he just doesn't understand working nights all the time and trying to function like a normal person. The hospital is busy and I have heard the Covid numbers are going back up. grammadee - I do try to be awake during the day when I am off especially if I am off for 3-4 days. I ended up sleeping in today and I have enjoyed more of the afternoon awake. I took the pups to see Santa. Zoe gets scared of things like car rides and going into doors at places. Phoebe is so excited about car rides and going places. They are at two different speeds. We barely got started on the ride and Zoe pooped in the backseat. Poor Phoebe was trying to sit away from it. I am excited to see the photos! We get home and they took a nap. I have been relaxing most of the day and ended up watching the new Season of Selling Sunset.

Good Morning! I'm sorry about your Thanksgiving day woes Linda and nylene. Mine went off pretty well. The kitchen looked like a bomb went off, but then that's what happens any time I cook lol. It was a good day with all the kids and good food. I ended up keeping Rudy Thursday night - so that I could host the crop on Friday. Today we have a lunch date, but he mentioned pizza so we will order a pizza and have the movie we didn't watch Thursday night. Black Friday shopping is done, I've got to finish signing cards and get those in the mail hopefully later today. I spent very little compared to other years on scrappy supplies. I think I'm at a point where I'm happy with what I have and happy using it. I haven't even thought about putting up the tree or any of that this weekend. Maybe Rudy can help with that today. @knutshchen I'm so sorry about your coworker. That's terrible. My mom's only remaining sibling is being moved into hospice, she has dementia and has gone downhill quickly this past week. They are giving her 7-10 days. kellyr21 you've been in my thoughts lately, sending you big big (((hugs))) Big big (((hugs))) to you to gramma as you navigate things in your family. Waving hi to everyone!

joyfulnana - sounds like a good long weekend between Rudy time, online cropping, and Black Friday shopping. I'm so sorry about your Aunt - prayers for a peaceful passing and for comfort for your mum and all the family. Busy and productive day today. Took down the fall/Thanksgiving decor and packed it up. Pulled out the Advent boxes from the Christmas closet - of course they were behind the Christmas ones so had to pull those out as well and then stack them back inside. Washed all the holiday linens and got them put away. Pulled out the advent wreath and books. Set up a Nativity in the kitchen nook and one on the mantel. I need to find spots for the rest - one will go in my bedroom. Baked peanut butter blossum cookies for our Advent Sunday celebration. We had turkey curry for dinner followed by our Advent celebration - we blessed the wreath, lit the first candle, said some prayers, did a Bible reading and hung the first ornament on our Jesse tree, read some stories and poem, sang some songs, ate the cookies, and enjoyed hot cocoa. DS joined us by phone - it was great to hear his voice chiming in on the songs. My Christmas cards were dropped in the blue postbox today so they'll go in tomorrow's mail.

Oh, knutschen, that must have been a shock, losing your co worker so suddenly. Hoping you and your shift are able to process the sadness and loss together. Wonderful of the crisis team to come in on a holiday to help with that. And ((((HUGS)))) to you and your Mom as your aunt goes through her final days, joyfulnana. Sounds like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend otherwise, with family IRL and scrapping on line with Pea friends. Maybe Rudy and Mikey will be putting up Christmas trees at the same time. There is a Santa Claus parade in our local town on Friday they hope to arrive in time for, and then they hope to spend the weekend decorating our house inside and out. Your family traditions sound so wonderful, Linda. And obviously very important to your kids, too. Having ds join in the hymn singing by phone is priceless. Dh and I attended the local Allied Arts Society Christmas brunch and drama presentation yesterday. They always do a comedy this time of year, and this one was not only hilarious but they added some of their own touches to it and their acting was top notch. So a great way to usher in the holiday season. I hope to finish signing and addressing my Pea cards today, then get them into the mail tomorrow. Am halfway through assembling the family calendars. Sorted all the Christmas gifts I have on hand into family piles and made notes of what is missing. Dsil will be here on the December 3-5 weekend then traveling to Calgary on the 12th, so hoping to have boxes of wrapped gifts (including their calendars) ready to go with him for our two ds's families down there. I want to include some baked goodies as well, so need to get some of their favourites put together this week. And yet, I am still on the computer LOL... Talk to you later!

knutschen, I am so sorry for your experience on Thanksgiving Day and sorry for the loss of your co-worker. I hope you and the entire staff involved can process and deal with this loss of someone dear. Big hugs to you. Thanks for letting us know so we can include you in prayers and good thoughts. justjac, thanks for posting that video of the spinning cards. I made 2 over the weekend for my DGDs' birthdays. They thought they were pretty cool. joyfulnana, I am sorry you are dealing with losing your aunt. I'm sure this is difficult on your mother. Thanks for hosting the chat I was on last weekend. It feels so good to sit down and scrap with friends. Did Rudy come help you with your tree? I miss having the kids around be be part of the decorations. Congrats on having so much shopping done! Linda, your advent traditions are such a great way to start the season. I get tired just reading about all the baking and everything you are doing. You are one busy mama! Hope everything comes together as you want. Will your son be home for Christmas? grammadee, you seem to be feeling much better and are taking on lots of projects! Please don't overdo. Your family calendars are such a wonderful gift. I'm sure it takes a lot of time and work to get them all ready. The production you attended sounds wonderful. We are only going out to one event in Dec. and that is the Forgotten Carols. Em and family buy our tickets and take us there each year. We may drive around to see the lights afterwards depending on the weather. We have become real homebodies with the pandemic. I'm hoping to get a lot of my family cards into the mail this week. I need to get a package off to Calif, but DH is still working on a wooden ornament for Angie. I need to go get busy. kellyr21, thinking of you and hoping you are doing ok. This time of year is difficult after a loss. Hugs from all of your Pokey friends. Waving at all the Pokeys we haven't seen for a while. Drop in when you have a minute.

grammadee - your drama and brunch sounds wonderful! And you're so busy with cards and presents - I'm glad you snuck some fun in there also. Yes- Advent is very important to my children also. Several years ago, DD21 had to do an assignment about her favourite holiday and she wrote about Advent and our traditions. I'm 100% positive that she and DS will be continuing the traditions as well as adding their own touches over the years. nylene - yes - DS should be home for almost a week over Christmas. He's driving DD21's Uhaul towing her truck to VA right after Christmas - DD is moving in with him. Timing isn't great - he'll come to us straight from one detachment and leaves for another only days after they get back to VA but there wasn't any better time so...He probably wouldn't have come home this year if he wasn't moving DD. Eye doctor this morning - I've ordered new glasses. Got my December Documented album started - title page and 1st Sunday of Advent page. I need to order photos but it's such an overwhelming task I keep putting it off.

Good things and bad things seem quite balanced here this month? gramma - trying to hold you up in my thoughts. Selfishly, I find myself hoping you are able to join a crop this weekend so we can see you, but I understand if that isn't to be. Maybe I can bribe you with msliz...she has signed up to host the Saturday crops? But mostly...just thinking of you... Linda - we have an important advent calendar. It is homemade and old. I made it last minute realizing we hadn't purchased one, and only intended it to be used that 1 year. 18 years later, we just keep pulling off the numbers and using it again! It's tradition! We don't have any other Christmas set up yet, but are going to buy a tree today. And DD has decorated her room - taped fairy lights across her ceiling and cut some snowflakes to hang from her ceiling. It's a bit like walking into a blizzard, and was a shock when i walked into her room this morning. I'm glad she's still my artsy fartsy kiddo, even when she's pretending to be all grown up I will have my cards in the mail Friday. Just haven't had time to sit down with them yet. Today was supposed to be my Dad's surgery. Which was already rescheduled from November. Supposed - yup. Short story: cancelled due to first a time mix-up, and then due to my Dad's panic attack which caused his retirement home to call the paramedics...
