This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges and is a fun place to come chat with other Pokey scrappers. 1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. These can be posted in the thread or in the gallery. If you post in the gallery, be sure to come to the thread and tell us you posted and tell us the name of the layout so we can find it. You can copy the URL from the gallery and paste it directly into your thread for a link. 2. This challenge can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items or any other creative projects. 3. Please comment on the work of others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts. 4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or more than four. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new members . If you are doing the Team Challenges, this challenge is worth one point for each page/project when you complete all 4. So that's 4 points for completing the Pokey Pea Challenge.

Here we are approaching the end of the year. It doesn't seem possible and yet this year has gone slowly in some ways. I'm a little under the weather but should be up and going in a day or two.
I look forward to chatting with all of you this month.

nylene - I'm sorry you're not feeling 100% - hopefully you'll be feeling better very soon. I packed up Halloween today and put out the Thanksgiving decor. I need to make some paper ornaments for our tree (white branches with lights - not a Christmas tree). I did leave up the pumpkins but - it looks pretty bare right now. Working on housework also - the weekend was spent working on the garage and the yard and Halloween things so I'm behind on laundry and cleaning and vacuuming. I also have a stack of boxes of books from the garage to bring upstairs - one at a time - they are heavy.

Oh nylene. So sad that you are feeling poorly. Please look after yourself. Linda , you are my hero. Halloween down. Thanksgiving up. All in one day? Do you have the WalMart overnight staff hiding out at your house? I don't decorate for anything but Christmas and it takes me at least a week to get it set up and another to take it down in January. I cut up a few pumpkins today. Enough to fill my fairly large soup pot. Cooling now so I can drain and leave in colanders for overnight draining. Finished a page to face the last one I posted yesterday. Still have a couple of summer LO's I want to finish before heading out the weekend of the 18th. Have been receiving cute Halloween photos from dd and ddil's last night and today. one more promises to have some pic's to me by evening. Tomorrow I am heading into the town next to ours who have a print shop, so I will be printing those autumn pic's. The supplies for the SCT event this upcoming weekend are mostly autumn themed. I am really ready to put summer scrapping away and play with FALL... While I am at the printers' I plan to drop off the calendar pages I have completed so far (January to October + December) so those will be printed and ready when I have time to assemble. Should have done the cover page today, but, you know, pumpkins... Happy November, Pokeys!

Happy November Pokeys! In the Diva thread, I called this the "runway to Christmas" and that's what I feel like...it's just gonna pick up speed from here. I have so many little things I either want to accomplish or must accomplish in the next few weeks. A friend is retiring and I'm 1/4 of the planning committee. I have a College of Physiotherapy "practice assessment". It's random who they chose - frankly, I'm ridiculously lucky to never have been picked before - but it's a "must pass" thing My Dad's having surgery next week, and we expected him to be in hospital a couple of days - nope, DAY surgery, and I don't know how the heck we will support him. We can't stay with him, he can't stay with us (physical barriers in both places). We could make him rent a hotel room for a few days and stay with him there? I don't know. I really should put Christmas "on hold" until that surgery is done (oh yeah. I work every day surrounding his surgery including that weekend. So DH will pick up the nurse-duty, showing just how much he loves ME. I'm so lucky to have him. DH. Not my Dad. I'd give my Dad away with a $10000 dowry if anyone is in the market). nylene - I hope you feel better really quickly. I hope rest and recuperation are going well. grammadee - this weekend - I think I need to do some pre-work and decide on photos and perhaps titles that suit me better than the ones provided. I'll probably also have to play with photo sizes and arrangements if I want these layouts to actually get put into albums. I think fall is my least photographed season of all.

I am not sure how much I will actually get done this weekend, but excited to watch the classes and learn techniques. I am thinking that my pages--when they are completed--will not look much like their samples. Trying to figure out which part of that leaf paper I can fussy cut up for Vicki's class. I have some fall photos I want to scrap, mostly about our garden, and a few from Thanksgiving.

nylene I hope you are feeling better. grammadee and kitbop that seems like a much more sensible approach to Crop & Create than what I do. I make the layouts pretty much exactly as in the class and then make some of my pictures fit the page at a later date. I still have an entire empty mini-book waiting for summer pictures. To be fair, I have used all the other pages I've made in classes. I don't have many fall pictures, though, and I already scrapped Thanksgiving...

How has this year gone so fast??!! It's flying! Until this time of year, because I dread the holidays and all there is to do and no time to create so the end of the year goes slow for me usually lol. nylene take care of yourself! I hope you feel better soon. Hopefully I'll "see" you soon Linda you are a dynamo! I don't decorate for anything but Christmas and even that is pretty minimal. I gave most of my Christmas stuff to Cody when he moved out and into his own place again I'm sorry you didn't have any trick or treaters. You're buffet looked delicious! I thought I might have some visitors since there have a few kids around lately that Rudy plays with, but nope. Not a one. kitbop your poor DH and poor you too. Your dad sounds like a handful lol. And it sounds like a busy month! You all give me FOMO with the crop and create weekends. Heck almost every thread on the board lately gives me FOMO lol. kellyr21 I'm glad you are taking it easy and I hope you feel better soon too! How are things with the art shows going? Man, those Chiefs are stinking up the whole NFL lol. They just don't seem to be themselves and it's painful to watch. I JUST got used to them coming from behind and winning, and now they seem like the Chiefs of old lol. I probably won't have to worry about playoff game traffic here lol. Hope to "see" you soon too! This weekend is just for me to do whatever I wish - and hopefully that translates to at least some scrapping! The days just speed by and it seems like the day is half over before I know it. Things have been a blur lately. I hope you are all having a good start to the month!

Hello all. Our non-Christmas decorating is pretty minimal - the fireplace mantel and hearth and the front stoop mostly and I change out the kitchen towels/potholders and add themed placemats into the mix. I have two totes for Halloween/Fall/Thanksgiving total. Now Christmas? that'll be a different story although I'm wondering how much of my breakable decor I should put out this year with two very active kittens. Dentist today and my rescheduled doctor's appointment tomorrow. So much fun! nylene - I hope you're on the mend. ((((Hugs))) and prayers kellyr21 - waving Hi back! I hope you're doing okay justjac and grammadee - those events sound like so much fun. Looking forward to hearing all about them and seeing your layouts afterwards kitbop - ((((Hugs))) and prayers. That sounds very challenging and very busy. Does the hospital have a social worker you can talk to and maybe get some ideas on post-surgery support? Might he qualify for in-home carers at all? I got all the book boxes out of the foyer and upstairs. There's another stack in the garage but those boxes are bigger (heavier) and I'm not sure I can manage them. We'll see. Now to call the school and figure why they are still using my old address even though I enrolled dd15 with the new address AND filled out the online forms with it. Sigh. I just talked to them last week about the wrong phone number

Good Thursday morning, Pokeys... nylene, I hope you are feeling better. Please take the time to recharge before getting back to what you tend to do: looking after everyone else. Sending you strength, kitbop, to get through what looks to me like a grueling month for you. I hope you can take time to enjoy the SCT event. Maybe it will energize you in your creativity and that will carry you through all of the demands you have on you right now. Hang in there. I thought I would get to experience some of the SCT weekend live with you live, kitbop and justjac, but except for Saturday morning, that is not going to happen. My niece is coming over to make Christmas cards Friday evening; dgs and his dad will be arriving Saturday early afternoon, and I will be making a couple of huge pans of lasagna for supper that night before canasta with family. Hoping all your appointments run smoothly, Linda, and you get the school records straightened out. Sounds like you are making real progress on getting your new home organized. Those boxes in the garage may be sending you a message. A couple of years ago, I went through a big storage area in our basement and back in the corner I discovered a couple of movers' boxes with the tape still on. We have been in this house for over 30 years. I think it is no surprise that the contents of those boxes were the first things that hit the dumpster in my big cleanup! I am anxiously awaiting photos of your Christmas house, MARIBETHR. I recall you transforming your home annually into a holiday wonderland. joyfulnana, I hope you enjoy your all about you weekend. Sleep. Binge watch TV. Recharge your batteries. If you get the urge to play with paper and glue, I hope you have a great time doing it. Glad you popped in, kellyr21. And glad you are taking it easy. But I am sure you have some other creative projects on the go. Looking forward to seeing what you create in your next adventure. This week I cut up and cooked all but one small pumpkin which was too green. Today I am tackling tomatoes. Hoping to get them all cooked up too so that will be one more big project off my list. Scrapwise, I have my sample completed for Saturday's sketch. Maybe I can squeeze in completion of the two pager that has been lying on my counter for a couple of days. Hoping to also do some diecutting and embossing today or tomorrow to prepare for card making tomorrow evening, but I guess that can be done on the go since we will be card making here. Okay. Time to stop chatting and start doing something. Just one more slurp of coffee...

I am anxiously awaiting photos of your Christmas house, MARIBETHR. I recall you transforming your home annually into a holiday wonderland. Started working on it this past weekend, but won't be able to work on it this weekend as husbands daughter is coming to visit. Expect photos @ Thanksgiving that is always are goal to complete the transformation.

Dentist yesterday = one cavity so I go back in December for a filling. Doctor is this afternoon - just a med check since I started a new medication last month. The boxes in the garage are DH's except for the ones that are DD21's. The only still=packed boxes I have are the ones for the dining room as we haven't yet moved over the china cabinet or the sideboard where those items will live. I'm hoping that'll happen this month - I gave DH a hard deadline of 'before I need to clean and decorate for Christmas' which in my mind is absolutely no later than Dec 20th and I would prefer earlier. We'll see. grammadee - you sound super busy as always. So much bounty from your garden but so much work to preserve it all as well. nylene - also hoping that you're resting and feeling better MARIBETHR - I'll look forward to photos as well

I don’t know why I bother to plan anything….
Had the whole next 6 weeks laid out in front of me, and…. The surgeon’s office called today. MY SURGERY IS SCHEDULED FOR MONDAY!!!!!
Trying now to get organized for that, now. Trying to get the house in some kind of order before I go. Figuring out what I should take with me. (Will be gone for at least a week. If they discharge me earlier, I will be staying with dd until the next weekend )

Thank you for all of the well wishes. I just had a flare of my UC and it really knocked me. On one of my many "quick trips" to the bathroom, I stubbed my toe and broke it. So not only did I have a bellyache, I also had a toe ache. I am actually feeling like tomorrow will be better. I think today was a turning point. I hope I can get a shoe on tomorrow. Oh, grammadee, what a time for messing up your schedule! I am really glad you are going to get some relief however. Will it be done laparoscopically? If so, that cuts down the recovery time considerably. You are in my prayers for a successful surgery and a quick recovery. Will you get your tomatoes done? Glad the pumpkins are finished. Linda, I'm sorry about your cavity! You seem to be getting so much organized in your new home. Would you like to come organize mine. I had planned to do no scrapping in Nov. and really do some organizing and purging in my scraproom. That, of course, hasn't happened yet. Hopefully soon. kitbop, I am so sorry you are dealing with your dad and his surgery. You are caught in the sandwich generation where you have your own family to care for, but are caring for parents too. I wish I had great advice for you. I can pray for you and for your dad. Wish I could do more. MARIBETHR, I got your cute Halloween card. It is the cutest witchie card. Thank you so much. I will put in in my windowsill above my computer where I can see it every time I walk in. I look forward to seeing your decorations throughout your house. Our DGD has done ours for the past 3 years but is gone to college. Maybe she will help me get started during Thanksgiving. joyfulnana, did you get to do some scrapping over the weekend? How did Rudy enjoy Halloween? kellyr21, nice to see your happy face pop in. I hope you are taking it easy. When is your next art exhibit? justjac, are you still out of school? Are you doing zoom-type teaching? knutschen, it's nice to see you. I hope you are truly going to get the garage door fixed. Who knew it would be so complicated. gramma, thanks for the call. I kept thinking I needed to type a note, but just didn't feel like leaving my bed and heating pad. You are such a sweet and caring friend. Thanks for keeping track of everyone. I'm ready for bed. I hope to actually do something constructive tomorrow. I can't believe how much I have slept the past 5 days. I have turned on the Hallmark movies but always fall asleep before they end. Of course we all know how they end, so it's no problem. LOL Have a great weekend, everyone.

Oh nylene - I got a little chuckle imagining the painful hobble in your rush to the bathroom - but it's really not funny - and I'm so hoping tomorrow is indeed a brighter lighter day for you! Thank you for your prayers - they make me feel so much stronger, able to muster through next week. I'm a great helper and if it were my Mom we'd sail through this. But my Dad's treatment of me through the years makes it hard to help. However, do unto others, turn the other cheek, and remember that I am not perfect myself!!! Oh grammadee - I'm both thrilled and shocked by the abruptness of this! You'll be able to relax for Christmas dinner with gravy! Yay! I work with cholecystectomies all the time. If you are in the hospital a week, I'll be very worried about you...do not do that. Chew gum. Walk. Get out of bed by rolling onto your side (use the bedrail to help), then moving your legs over the edge, then pushing up with your elbows/arms. Practice that move before the surgery. Drink well and try to eat. Very important: Deep breath and cough - that's tough after a gallbladder but breathe deeper than you want to. If you put your arms above your head (like on your pillow while you are lying in bed) you'll get a FAR better breath. And do your coughing sitting up. If you suddenly need to cough lying down, BEND YOUR KNEES FIRST. I'm sure you nerves just sizzled into high gear when you got that news! Is your DS and GS still coming this weekend? We'll miss you and be thinking of you next week!

nylene - I hope you're feeling better. I'm so sorry about the broken toe - I'm sure that just made everything worse. ((((Hugs))) I love organising and if we lived closer, I would be happy to come over and help you. Neisey - glad you're going to get some scrappy time I got my Covid booster at the doctor's on Thursday - it was the end of the day and they had extra doses so... I then slept ALL day and night yesterday and didn't get up until 10 today. I'm still achey and tired but not as wiped out as yesterday. Still better than covid though.

Time change today. We had people over for lasagna and cards last night, but even though dgs woke up the same general time as Daylight savings--when the clocks LIE and tell you it is later than it really is--he was pretty quiet, and Dad and Grampa entertained him so I could just stay in bed til my "regular time" of 7:30AM which is now one hour later than it has been for months! It was even light outside. Love it! Still have some items on my to-do list before my sister in law picks me up early afternoon for our drive to the city. I want to do another load of laundry, and of course pack up a small bag to take to the hospital. I want to pack up a couple of others--just in case I end up in the city longer than a couple of days. ie my blank calendars and a list of pertinent dates I could fill in for each month; The Christmas cards I have already made and a printed mailing list. I know I am taking my ipad, so if I am lucid I should be able to keep in touch. And if I am not, dd knows how to get in touch with justjac. Hope you gals have a great scrappy Sunday! justjac has been sending me links to the SCT classes, so at the very least I will have some scrappy videos to watch in the upcoming days. Linda, congrats on the booster. Hope you are back to full health now. I qualify for mine after December 2nd. nylene, I hope you rest as much as you absolutely can. My bowel sends your bowel a message: "OUCH! We hear you. Now settle down and get back to normal." I have not broken a toe since I was very pregnant and stubbed one on a kitchen chair leg. In my defence I was chasing three active boys and could not remotely see my feet! Okay. Off to tie up a bunch of loose ends...

grammadee - I hope your surgery goes well and you have a quick recovery. nylene - I hope you are feeling better! I am still fighting with the garage door people. It is a new company that is working with Lowe's and I was told there are a lot of people waiting for their garage door to be installed. I guess Lowe's hasn't set them all up with whatever they need. So crazy! kellyr21 - I hope you are feeling better! I had my temporary crown placed last Thursday. Even with sedation, I remember most of it. I even took a selfie of myself getting the nitrous oxide and they took my phone away! I guess they were afraid I would text or do something I wouldn't remember later. The temporary crown is very sensitive. It may be 2 weeks before my permanent one is ready. I did something very exciting this week! Last Tuesday, I was on Facebook in one of my pug groups I follow and someone had posted about a female black pug that was under 1 year of age. It was about 5 AM when I saw it and instantly searched for the rescue group and put in a message. They emailed me back right away and said to fill out an application if I wanted her. I did and they said my application looked good but they needed to speak to my vet as a reference. By 1 PM, I had an email that my application was approved and I could pick her up when I was ready! I went last Friday and picked this cute pug up! She is 6 months old. She was 1 1/2 hours away. I hadn't gotten to drive my new SUV on the highway that far. I was all up for a trip! She was very afraid when I picked her up and also dirty and smelled like a barn. I took her to get a bath at one of the dog washes before bringing her home. By the next day, she was acting like a playful little puppy! She must not have been exposed to much. She is scared of some everyday things like walking through a door. She wasn't used to being on a leash either. She is learning and doing better with little things. Today, I am afraid she has Giardia. I am taking her to the vet this week for a check-up and will get her checked for that. Here is Zoe! I am thinking of grammadee this morning and hope all is going well with her surgery. I hope this helps her feel better and enjoy the foods that she loves. knutschen, what an adorable little black puppy. It looks like the two get along well together. They are both lucky to have a caring "mom" like you. There is something so adorable in pugs' little faces. I am sorry that you are still battling that garage door issue. Are they hoping you will just give up? I hope when you get your new crown the tooth settles down. Tooth and mouth pain are awful! So nice to see you popping in and thank you for the cute photos. justjac, please keep us informed about grammadee if she is not up to peaing. Neisey, how was the weekend? Did you get the scrappy time you were hoping for? Nice to see your avatar popping up. Come visit often. kellyr21, hope you are doing well. Keep in touch. Are you planning any new videos in the near future? I am feeling much better and have tons of errands to run today. I'm still limping a bit and my whole foot is black and blue, but I can get shoes on and need to take DH to appts. It feels good to get back to normal life. I never know what triggers an intestinal flare, but it was 10 days after my Covid booster and I did have a similar thing happen with the first 2, just not as bad. So I think I am past it now. It was worth having the Booster though. Waving at all the Pokeys. Have a great week everyone!

Thank you justjac - that is good news. Hope grammadee is feeling well. ((((Hugs))) and prayers Sewing day today. I sewed a bunch of strips together into tubes - they will become ribbon candy ornaments. Then I made a camp blanket for DD15 for Christmas - 2 layers of fleece to keep her cozy. I have another camp blanket pinned for DD21 - the blanket was actually her idea but DD15 also has a bunch of campouts planned this winter so... also made two batches of brownies from scratch - one for D15's contribution to the Academic Team potluck tomorrow and one because DD21 looked so sad that the brownies weren't for the house.
