For at least the last 10 years, I've loved shopping scrappy sales from Sept-Nov and even into Dec. It was always my favorite time of year to get new (to me) stuff and wrap some of it for under the tree.
But this year, I've not gotten a thing.
Not only that, not even looking. I don't know if there are less sales, less stuff I like, I'm less into the search, or all of the above.
Anyone else lose their shopping mojo this year?
It's fine - I have TONS of stuff and am making do just fine and still creating. But it's a little bit of a bummer.

I get what you are saying...but I think it may be a shopping in general thing because there is no more exclusiveness to black friday and cyber monday sales. I used to be into it too, and did pretty well. I wouldn't shop most of the year and only shop during the end of year to catch up on what I wanted. I remember getting the minc mini in a Joann's BF sale for half off then coupon on top of it.
I haven't even bothered looking if anyone has any sales. I would at least appreciate some creative bundles or something like that. But that goes for everything, not just scrappy things. My circle isn't a gift giving type anymore, we do homemade goodies and things like that, then just gift cards/cash for younger ones. I refuse to get caught up in this supply shortage buying frenzy.
I had to restrain myself from ordering cuddl duds blankets from Kohls this year because no one needs any. They are my fav.
I am hoping for maybe some digital kit sales from either Paper Person or Traci Reed, maybe FYC. I used to always purchase from IACB.
But like you said, I have enough stuff! I've spent more on classes/events this year anyways, so probably best to use funds towards that.

@zingermack, I definitely know what you are talking about. Everything just seems sort of meh where supplies are concerned. I think it is a "perfect storm" of product all looking the same to me, nothing really looks revolutionary to me, same old same old. (except for Vicki Boutin, so there's that, lol) combined with the fact that I haven't done anything more exciting than bake bread and go for walks since March 2020. (don't get me wrong, in a way I am glad my life has been quiet these last 18 months)
For me as well, there is no "thrill of the hunt." I know what's out there, I see it on the computer. I know how to get it, scrapbook.com or ACOT, or my online ordering from LSS, or Amazon, etc. Tuesday Morning is a total bust, and there are no buzzy big crops to go to, no Expo...
I am going to participate in the Shop Small event my (sorta) LSS is having, because I want to support them, but all I am intending to buy is the VB Fernwood ephemera pack. Sometimes when I feel like this, it can help to totally reorganize my supplies, put them in different places, recategorize, see if I have "holes" in what I need or want. Tear it all apart and put it back together a different way.

I've been feeling this way for about 6 months. A year ago I was placing some kind of order every month. Sometimes twice a month. I just couldn't get to all my "have to haves" fast enough. And then...I don't know what happened? I just lost interest in it. I have plenty of stuff. Everything seems like a slightly different version of something I already have. And everything feels expensive. It's also bleeding over into my creating mojo...I pull some stamp sets, embellishments, and paper out and just sort of push them around my desk. I try to look at inspiration online or other sources. Nothing fits quite right. I'm just in a slump it seems? Kits help me get my "have tos" done...but that's not always fun. It feels more like a chore.

I join the "downsizing of shopping" crew, mostly due to Kelly Purkey's Paper Shop no longer shipping to Europe. And I'm fine with it now? I think. I'm back to doing more of what my original DIY minimalist style was. It kind of got quietened by the physical products I had gotten used to buying over the years. I have grown to like the empty shopping tundra of 2021. It's been like coming home... 🤷♀️

I'm on a use my stuff kick vs buy. I'm heading into 2022 looking forward to buying even less. The overkill of DD last year - with interactive pages, has sent me in the opposite direction. Simple is more.

What's really funny to me is hunting for scrappy sales is how I found this site. I had shopped on the old 2peas store once in a while, but never joined the community there. Occasionally I would google things like 'Simple Stories' and 'sale' and one search result led me to the peas here. The rest is history

Same here. I prefer to shop in person and the lack of name brand supplies in brick and mortar retail stores (LSS, big box, TM) is impacting my purchasing. I shop online at ACOT or Stamps.com less frequently now. However, I did just preorder the new Tim Holtz mini trimmer from ACOT since it was a absolute must have item. The preorder discount is 20% off which is nice and paid for the shipping. However, all of these shipping charges from different stores is driving up my overall cost. I usually can’t find everything I want from one single online store thus causing multiple shipping fees. Add to that the coupon policy changes by M’s and HL which have greatly lessened my purchases from them. Thankfully, I have a few Jo Ann’s in my area and their coupon policy is still awesome! One of my J’s is huge and carries the AC Designer Destination lines. That is so wonderful and I appreciate being able to see the items before I buy them. It’s just a mini LSS with coupons. In fact, I think I will go by J’s now to see what they have in stock. I have a few coupons from the flyer and on the app.

i am the opposite of you. i do all my shopping throughout the year and by the time october rolls around, i am shopped out for SB stuff. by that time, i would have already gotten all the stuff i need to work on holiday craft projects but i need to focus on xmas shopping (which i am never motivated to do but have to). my SB shopping doesn't pick up again until february or march when the holidays are far behind me.

The only scrapbook items I've bought this entire calendar year are neutral 12x12 cardstock (same color packs at Tuesday Morning & 10/$2 by the sheet at Joann), VersaFine Clair inks (on clearance for $2/ea at Michael's), plus two Hero Arts wood-mounted rubber stamps & Tim Holtz uppercase & number die sets (during semi-annual clearance/75% off sales at Hobby Lobby). Nothing from new releases have interested me for several months...

I have definitely not lost my shopping mojo this year. I kept it under control until the end of Aug, and since then I've bought all the things. I am generally buying for specific projects, or core things like cardstock and albums, but I will be back in the freezer next year.

I'm like papersilly. The last 2 or 3 years, I've shopped a ridiculous amount through the first of the year and by Oct I'm shopped out. The BF sales haven't been too great lately either. I'm shopped out and out of room, so I hope the sales aren't good this year either. I know I'll look, but I don't know what could possibly cause me to buy at this point in time. I have lots of good stuff waiting to be used.

Same same same. After being basically trapped at home these almost 2 years, I bought lots of the things (not ALL the things fortunately) and now I've reached critical mass and am overwhelmed with scrappy stuff again. I've checked out some of the early sales and have not even been remotely tempted. I only bought 4 holiday scrappy items this year (only puffy stickers) because of all my good stuff waiting to be used.

LOL) yes, people adopted dogs and made tiktok videos during the pandemic. me, i beefed up my craft supplies.

I buy the most after Christmas and my birthday. The MOJO I've lost is scrapping. I want my own space.

I think for me it is the stores! I just to love going to all the craft stores and browsing and shopping, but not there is hardly anything in the scrapbook section. I do almost all my shopping online and we have no LSS stores where I live. I have several when I lived in WA and in CA but FL is lacking or at least my city.

I had to move my scrapbook room 7 minutes away. Nothing like loading up 125 boxes to make you feel like you never ever need to shop again. Usually for Christmas I ask for gift cards for my LSS. Now I just feel like I have enough.

I don’t think I have particular seasons for buying, but I have definitely been uninspired by the products of the last 9-12 months or so. So I entirely understand what you are saying. There has just been too much that seems like a redo, or the most popular themes agin, and a lot of traditional stuff. I just don’t need very much of what’s being offered right now, even though I would love to buy things that excite and inspire me. I’m not inspired by much current product.

I think you hit the nail on the head there with that statement. The world has changed, we have been knocked away from anything resembling a redo or traditional and while not every line needs to address the pandemic itself, but new lines should address the fact that we have changed, life has changed, the world has changed. But they haven’t caught on yet and it’s still more of the same. And I just think many of us aren’t feeling a connection with more of the same anymore.

While I appreciate that a couple companies came out with COVID lines, or more "at home" lines, a lot has changed and I need more of those changes incorporated to be a better reflection of life now. Smaller gatherings, staying safe, uncertainty, shutdowns, reopening, changes--these are just basics that "translate" to scrapbooking current life (pretty much everything we do has some of this as a part of it), but obviously there is more and everyone needs their own personalizations.

my biggest pandemic scrap purchase was a Brother Scan n Cut machine. Cool! How are you enjoying it? I've gotten so much use out of my Silhouette the past year. Went to a party Sat. night and made little Photo Booth props (lips, glasses, mustache, etc.) I've made a lot of foam stamps. I've done foiling using a glue pen, etc. It's been great fun!
