I've mentioned we are moving about March 1. Any tips for moving all the heavy scrapbook albums? I am thinking about just loading them in my SUV the day before the movers come and moving them myself.
I plan to do that with all my Iris cases that are like drawers. It seems like less work than boxing them up.

Out of everything, my kids and DH hate moving my scrappy stuff the most cause of how heavy it all is! I have always had them load up my albums in the backseat of my car and I myself transport them cause I don't trust anyone else. They are way too precious to trust anyone else and let them out of my sight! 😊
Good luck with the move!!

I moved 7 minutes from home and had 3 shelves of albums. I got good study boxes from Home Depot and put 4-6 in each box. So much time and effort into those albums I wanted to make sure they were safe.

Idk I just put all my stuff in boxes and had the movers move it. Everything survived.

We are only moving 15 minutes away, so it would be easy to do it myself. I'm also paying movers by the hour.

We did a DIY move - use lots of small boxes not big boxes - albums are heavy. I packed mine upright

For your Iris cases-stack a couple and wrap securely with the stretch wrap you can buy at the big box stores. I even wrapped my rolling drawer units and they survived a cross country move with no loss of items.Even if you drop them, nothing falls out. Also works well for your silverware trays.

I've mentioned we are moving about March 1. Any tips for moving all the heavy scrapbook albums? I am thinking about just loading them in my SUV the day before the movers come and moving them myself. I plan to do that with all my Iris cases that are like drawers. It seems like less work than boxing them up. If we move in CONUS, I move our albums myself. They go in one of the cars along with the light bulbs and alcohol. I’m not sure that I know the Iris drawers that you are talking about. Are they open at the top or enclosed cases? I have 16 Jetmaxx drawer units that have been moved multiple times. I stuff the drawers with paper and then use the plastic wrap mentioned to wrap the drawers. I insist that the movers use boxes. They do fit in the boxes that are about 20 x 20 and light items (non crushable) are put around the outside. Keep them upright if at all possible. Plastic drawer units are easy to break in a move, so those get dismantled as much as possible and put into boxes. If you don’t want to mess with that, definitely move them yourself. For paper, I have the old Cropper Hopper Paper holders. I always make sure that the paper is straightened and nothing is sticking over the top. Any lose projects or paper goes into Iris cases that latch shut. Movers have NO respect for paper anything. Also pull any liquids, especially glues or inks. You don’t want those spilling through a load. I rubberband small stacks of ink pads together so that they don’t flip open and dry out. The studio is usually the last to get unpacked and I’ve had plenty of things ruined. If you put things in storage where it could freeze (or get too warm next summer). Pull those liquid items and keep them in a climate controlled space. For anything that you move yourself, make sure that you use plain packing paper. Newsprint will get on everything. If you pack baskets/crates/drawers, stuff paper on the top and then wrap in paper. That way nothing spills out and you just unwrap the item and you are done. Do with same with your silverware organizer. Otherwise you will have cutlery spilling everywhere!
