I'm just nosey and wonderin'....will you do your foundation pages yourself or are you totally waiting for Ali to show how she's going to do it? I was thinking that if I bought the kit, I'd probably scraplift her for the most part and was just wondering if that was your plan or if you just got the kit 'cause you like it and now you're going to design your whole album yourself.

I didn't get this kit but I did get last years. I bought it last year but didn't finish. With it and my stash, I have plenty to finish this year and last with it. Anyways I took the SC 25 days class last year but didn't do much with it. This year, I am basically copying the design to make it easier for me. Maggie Holmes did the class and her album is so cute. She first shares her foundation pages and then what they look like complete. I haven't done much yet but hoping to get more foundation pages done over the next week- so yes I am copying but last years and Maggie's. - not Ali's

Probably copying to a degree, but switching some things because I am gathering old stash to complement it. I embellish more heavily than Ali, but I love her design sense. She also does a lot of digital things that I do not do.
Interesting question this year. In the past, I have done the album on my own so it will be weird to switch. I wonder if it really will go faster to copy or will be just as quick to go rogue.

I look to Ali to see what she does with the stuff I have no idea what to do with. For this year's kit, it is the chipboard pieces...one has 12 holes and the other is a calendar. Seems Ali doesn't quite know what she is going to do either. She posted her foundation pages this morning. The kit this year has too many 'non-traditional" colors and if this trend continues, I won't be buying the kit again. There is only so many ways I can incorporate orange paper into Christmas themes. I miss the early kits with more traditional colors and graphics. However I will say this, Ali's style has impacted me. I do the pocket pages and love adding transparencies, only because she introduced them. I do my own format, but the idea came from her years ago.
I usually organize my pages with a 2 day spread and sort out the paper as a first step. I don't usually do any of the embellishments until after the picture is determined.

I get the templates that she sells every year with the year's dates/days and use those for foundation pages. Sometimes I print them out in advance, sometimes I don't. I got multiple sizes last year so that I could use them in whichever size of Handbook pocket made sense for each layout.
Like Kimmie, I look at Ali's layouts to see what she does with some of the odd items from the kits. I don't mind the non-traditional colors because I am the world's only DD person who doesn't celebrate Christmas. (But, think how much easier this project would be if you had eight days of Hanukah to fill in, people!)

I will do my own thing. I tend to be less linear in my scrapping than Ali. I do check out what she does for inspiration too.

I bought the DD kit in 2011, I think, and followed Ali along and really enjoyed the process. I really like her style, but found it wasn't my own. I like to throw more things at my pages and color and eliminate the white (think rainbow explosion), although I'm thinking this year, I might try to incorporate some white back in for a change-up.
I like that Ali is true to her style year after year and it hasn't changed all that much. It's very pretty and clean and her pages are easy to follow along.

I still have my kit from last year as well and I'm going to probably follow what she did last year for this year. I love her style and use her a lot for inspiration.

After doing Week in the Life, I'm going to say, no. I'm not going to follow her plan at all. I love what she does but it's not me. I really like making more of a mini-book type of album. I'll use the album and the stuff but I won't have very many pocket pages. I've enjoyed doing Week in the Life but realize how important it is to have lots of photos for the kind of scrapping she does. And I don't think I'll have more than 1 or 2 pics for each day.
My plan is to do what I did last year -- go through all my papers and cut some 2-page spreads that are the size of the page protectors, then use the kit papers because it looks like they'll fit in the full-page pockets without cutting. I'll definitely have some pocket pages in there, all different sizes, but definitely not one for every day. It's been too much printing everything at Walgreen's 4X6 then re-printing things 3X4 or other larger sizes at home. I can't choose what goes where from the computer, I have to have prints in my hands. But pockets are great for little bits of things we pick up like pine needles or tags from presents or little pieces of packaging with cool christmasy things. I've been saving stuff already like the cup from starbucks.
I'm sure this makes no sense at all by this point.
