I finally bit the bullet and got the TH one off eBay. No regrets!
It did come with two magnets, but I think I could use a couple more. I’ve only messed around with it a little so far, but when a stamp is new and tacky it sticks to the card stock and pulls it up, even with the magnets.
Are there other magnets compatible with the TH stamp platform that are easily acquired?
About embossing: heat tools on Amazon are in two categories: $12 range and $25 range. Is there a difference?

Yay for you! Stamp platforms are life changing.
I ordered bar magnets from Amazon. If you watch JM videos that what she uses. Look for ones that are 1/8" thick.
Not much help with heat guns. Mine is old, old, old. Still works though.

Wrap the magnets with tape leaving a "handle". Easier to remove. And Never put those magnets near each other. They will be almost impossible to separate if they "kiss"

So much easier to pick up and move around. I used a few layers of washi tape for prettiness. That stuff ain't doing much. It needs to earn its keep! Also, about your embossing tool question. Mine is one I got years and years ago at Joanns on sale for like $10. The pricier ones are generally a little better quality and I think they give off more heat so you can emboss faster, but mine has been sufficient because I don't heat emboss that often. I will keep it until it dies.

I purchased an offical "misti" bar magnet for my TH platform. I wanted to make sure it was strong enough, and it was cheaper than similar ones on amazon! Plus, I was sure it would be the right thickness too.
Another suggestion is to use an old silhouette or cricut mat cut to fit on the base - your paper will stick to it; you magnets can hold the sticky mat in place (or you can tape it into the platform). I much prefer this.
Embossing tool: mine is an ancient marvy. Not sure if it's "good" or "bad"! Would love to put a pricier one on my christmas list, but I don't know if it will actually be any better. So I'm watching this thread with interest!

Note I exclusively incorporate stamping into scrapping, so only use a stamp positioner & heat tool on occasion. I haven't experienced the issue you described with the WRMK Advanced Precision Press, so have never shopped for additional magnets. My Wagner heat tool is at least a decade old & still working well; I recommend Wagner or another name brand, given its function & potential to cause damage to you & your home!

If the magnets do get stuck together, do NOT try to pull them apart. SLIDE them apart.
I actually prefer to use removable tape instead of using the magnets.

However, I prefer to use removable tape, which works far better for me than the magnets.

Yay! I love my TH platforms even though I spent a fortune on them. Very helpful tools.
I usually just use 2 magnets even though I have 4 magnets (because I ended up getting both sizes of platforms). Sticky stamps do pull up the paper while they're dry - much less so once you actually use ink on them - but I almost always push it to the corner anyway so the magnets are just a little extra. Some crafters don't even bother with them, they just push the paper back into the corner each time. I've messed up my re-stamping using magnets and without using them, equally.
I use tape runner on the back of the piece if I really need it to stick down or not be lined up in the corner, or if it's too small or awkward to use magnets with.
I also have washi tape handles added to mine. It makes it much easier to pick them up.
Strong magnets are cheap on amazon but be careful to check the measurements.

I much prefer this. This is a good idea. I've been using purple tape to keep the cardstock down, in addition to the magnets because it just seems to get pulled up every time no matter what I try. I put the cardstock in the corner, too, but still don't trust that it doesn't shift ever so slightly if I don't tape it down. It's frustrating. It's probably because I use the grid paper pad in my Misti, and the pad either gets curled paper edges or the gummed edge doesn't go flat into the corner. I'm going to have to play around with it and find a better way to use it.
