I emptied a few more boxes in my office. I also came to the conclusion that all the stuff I have printed off for scrapbooking stuff like page maps etc. Can all be recycled. I emptied 4 boxes. Found some stuff I had been looking for. Purged. I have about 5-7 hours left in that room to have it finished.
I have given my DH the list of move fridge and stove this week and clean behind it. It hasn't been done in about a year I'd say.

We had a decluttering weekend without really meaning to, as we spent yesterday tackling the spare room. It's officially a bedroom but you have to walk through it to get to the bathroom, so it's become a bit of a dumping ground. We cleared 5 bags of rubbish and about the same to go to the charity shop, plus we've managed to use the loft for some storage for the first time. It feels really good to get things cleared and I feel motivated to keep going now!

yes!!! keep trying to clean main floor/2nd floor but run out of room for stuff (old house, not enough closets). this time i tried a new approach and cleaned the 3rd floor which is DD room's (which she is responsible for) and my former scraproom also known as where everything goes to die...
i cleaned and purged that room and the foyer space at the top of stairs and DH worked the basement. then when i moved down to 2nd floor and he moved to main floor, we had places to PUT stuff.
also got 6 black garbage bags of excess crap out - pretty satisfying results for a weekend! i can't help but accept the fact at least half of my stress is my life is self-induced based on disorganization. no more!!!

Great job everyone. I did absolutely nothing this weekend to better our house. I was hoping to get motivated to work hard today. It's so gloomy here today and it's going to rain all day. I'm thinking of wrapping some Christmas presents so I can at least keep some things moving in a forward direction.

My bedroom and bathroom are almost completely organized. What I did this weekend:
got rid of the pile of donate/resale clothes in the corner of my bedroom had a new light fixture installed
What I've already done:
purchased organizers for dresser drawers and bathroom vanity drawers purchased organizers for linen closet and bedroom closet new area rug new comfy chair new pillow and throw for comfy chair changed all hangers to white purged and organized clothes organized closets
What I still need to do:
buy more organizers for closets hang something on the walls? stain tile grout in bathroom make coffee table into a bench seat paint night stand get a new alarm clock
Future dream projects:
tile shower granite countertop
Really not much left to do in my bedroom/bathroom.

I'm really glad to see this post because it totally motivated me. I'm getting ready to move, and this was what I needed to get my fanny in gear. And I know what you mean about the webs...OMG - spiders just take over the place!!!

I've basically got everything I wanted to do in the house done now. I just bought all new towels for the boy's bathroom and purged the old. Yesterday the kids helped me go through the gaming stuff in the family room and we tossed some cords and head sets that either didn't work or weren't needed. DH purged some paperwork in his office.
I'm not really a saver and my house doesn't look cluttered, but it's amazing how much stuff we do have.

Go, ladies, go! A few weeks ago I printed off a calendar that does one task a day for a year. You can do most of the tasks in less than ten minutes. While I won't do them all in order, I will cross them off as I get through them. I do love a good list.

I plan to do a big purge after the holidays. I have 2 eave attics to clean out and then the main house attic. Once I get those done I'm going to head to the basement and get that sucker cleaned out. I did go a little crazy this weekend and cleaned out my spice cabinet. OMG the stuff that I threw away was amazing Then I cleaned out my pantry closet and the cabinet in the kitchen that holds smaller food stuff. It feels so good to get rid of all that stuff that was just sitting there collecting dust. Can't wait to get started on the rest of the house, but really don't want to get into that during the holidays.

It is called the chevron clutter calendar. It has all 12 months with a task for every day (usually the last 3-5 days are free days). I like this calendar because it has you do things you might have skipped.
I am a teacher and usually declutter in the summer. In the past, I brought in three big boxes into a room labeled Toss, Donate, Move to another room. I went through everything in the room (took 30 minutes to 90 depending on the room). I didn't let myself leave the room until it was done. I found that when I went to put something in another place I got off task and it took all day to get a room done.

My cabinet guy said the cabinets I ordered for my studio would be in around Thanksgiving--and that's this week! Eeek! I haven't done ANYTHING down in my studio up until now to get stuff cleared out of the way yet, and there are a bunch of boxes of junk piled up around the walls where the cabinets will go. So yeah, I needed to do something! I got about 15 boxes of stuff stacked up in the utility room but there is so much more stuff that needs to get moved out of the way that just got dumped there when we moved in. It's not good. At least now I can get into the one back corner, so I should be able to pull out the table and shelves that are hiding back there and get them moved out and into the utility room for now.

I like this thread!
We cleared a few empty boxes out of the loft (why do we hang on to every box every appliance came in?).
In the last couple of weeks I've been on a mission to declutter. I've chucked out 18 pairs of shoes, tidied the area under my clothes hanging rail where the remaining shoes are, and tidied and purged a corner of the dressing room, removing bags of stuff including many pairs of stockings I will never, ever wear again.
I've cleared out the cupboard in the bathroom, and thrown out all the half used lotions and potions that I'll never use now. It's made a big difference and I can now see what nice stuff I do have to use. Everything else is off the bathroom counter, and it looks fab, and is so easy to wipe down.
I'm trying to find a home for everything, and put things away and hang things up as I go.
The house is looking much tidier.
