This is a challenge board. Please let us know which types of challenges you prefer to find here. And if I may, I would like to throw in one additional question: (well, to be honest, it is a question with alot of moving parts, but we would definitely appreciate your comments/ideas/suggestions...)
If you like scrappy challenges, why do you think that is? Do they motivate you to use your stash or finish cards/projects/pages you have on the go? Do they help keep you fresh by pushing you to the edge of your comfort zone to learn new ways of doing things? By taking on a challenge, do you feel like you are "part of something" and the main point is sharing results and seeing what others create?
Going forward, we want to keep this place a fun one to come and play! And a place that motivates you to complete scrappy "work" that we may feel we have hanging over our heads. And what is better than having fun while getting something done??? Win/Win!

I do like scrappy challenges because they motivate me to think out of my box as well as use my stash. I'm less keen on challenges that constrain me - recipes for instance - I don't always have all of the items or there are simply too many (or not the right) embellishments/techniques for my type of scrapbooking. Sketchtember is probably my all time favourite because I LOVE sketches. The board crops we've done have been very motivating - both the challenges AND the camaraderie on the thread. AND because they are time-specfic...it's easy to mark off a day or weekend on the calender and 'give myself permission' to set chores aside and scrap. is that what you're looking for grammadee?

Sketches are definitely my favourite kind of challenges. I will put scraplifts into that same category.
I also like themes, because it gives me ideas for what photos to scrap. This one works well for me because I have years of unscrapped photos to choose from. It might not work as well for someone who is totally up to date with their scrapping (who is this unicorn person?!).
For my third poll choice I was going to choose "use a particular type of product." But then I realised that having challenges to use ribbon or tags or dots etc is really only a point scoring exercise for me. I am a digital scrapper so I don't have a "stash" so to speak. Well I do, but it is a never-ending stash that I don't need to bust!
My third choice was photo challenges. This probably works better for me than others, because I can go out and take a photo then scrap it straight away, as I don't have to wait until I get the photo printed.

I don’t like many challenges except for sketches! My stash isn’t that large so using specific products doesn’t work for me. Techniques don’t usually work for me either if they involve specific equipment, such as mixed media or dies (this is why cardtober was a bit of a bust for me this year). I Guess just due to my stash and minimal tools, I can only participate in basic challenges. But I’m not a very competitive person and I’m just here to see what everyone else is creating and share my pages as well. 😄

I just thought of another thing. I am motivated by the frozen/chilly thread even though it’s not an official challenge. Whenever someone adds it to the monthly list i am motivated to stay frozen all month and earn those bonus points!

I definitely prefer sketch challenges to just about anything else and I love the jumping off point they provide as well as seeing all the different interpretations. I think I really like that they often encourage me to tell different stories because if I scrap without a starting point I'll typically stick to my current yearly album or my latest holiday. That said, I'm pretty terrible about completing them in a timely way except for sketchtember. I have a whole list of the sketchy Saturday sketches saved to work through, as well as some of the sketchtember sketches from prior years that I just didn't get done. I like challenges to use a specific product, particularly when it's something I might not have pulled out in a while. It's a good reminder to use all the things in my stash, not just my current favourites. I'll also agree with scrappyrabbit that I'm motivated by the no spend challenges, although unfortunately I'm also motivated by the 1 point per dollar spent challenges Overall I like that challenges make me use things in my stash. I own so many supplies I love that I don't really need to buy more, and challenges keep me motivated to use what I own rather than just keep shopping. I haven't been as present on the challenge board over the last 12-18 months as I used to be, and I'm hoping, as life settles back down, that I can participate more frequently.

Oh, one more thought. I like variety in my challenges. One of the reasons I stepped away from the teams was because the same challenges seemed to constantly be appearing on the challenge list and I just wasn't motivated by them.

I am motivated by the technique and product challenges the most, I do HAVE a huge stash to remember to access and use! I stay mostly organized . . . , but hosting that challenge reminds me to look at systems that are not working for me and to re-think the process every once and awhile. Plus, it gets me to go through things to remember what I have! I enjoy most sketch challenges, but don't always get drawn to all of the single page layouts because in general I'm a double page girl. But have doing a few of the single page layouts has been a good exercise for me.
I also echo Linda's thought that having the board crops are very motivating and enjoyable. It's easier for me to say to the family "I'm going to spend some time in my room with my scrapbooking friends". Since we don't have a LSS or any business that hosts local crops anymore, it is a great way to socialize and still craft in our very own spaces! I do miss to opportunity to crop with others IRL, but the board crops have been super helpful in encouraging me in many ways !
