I've been participating in this virtual ensemble since the beginning of the lockdowns, it's grown from 8 cellists to nearly 500! Anyway, the premier just happened today. Enjoy! youtu.be/Frchqo3YuI4

I am very impressed! What amazing things have happened thanks to COVID! Opportunities like this just weren’t a thing. I hope some of them stick around.

Fabulous! But I want to know which one was you (like 1m14s, 2nd row from top, about 8 in from left, purple headscarf). There's a challenge for you!

I would have to look for myself - I have a hard time recognizing faces (I'm faceblind) but I would be able to recognize the shirt that I'm wearing, I think! I'll have to watch it again and see if I can find it. I participated in #3-15, if you want to see any others: globalcelloproject.com/If you know any cellists - even beginners -there are parts even for those who can't play very well yet. I also participate in something similar called r/theredditsymphony. I have played cello, viola da gamba, and clarinet on projects there. It looks like the next cello project will be the Nutcracker Suite, which also happens to be a current project on theredditsymphony. So I might get to play that one twice, on both cello AND clarinet!

Amazing! Now I wish I hadn’t given up cello after 10th grade orchestra.
I missed the ages - surprised no one is older than 70.

Although Covid is a global tragedy, and continues to be so, there have been some wonderful occasions where people of the world have come together and done fabulous things. OP that was great fun and so very well put together. Tfs. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg)

Fabulous! Great choice of music, too. Proof positive that you don’t need violins or horns. 😀
Does the Reddit symphony have parts for flute? ETA: Never mind. Googled it. Duh.

Amazing! Now I wish I hadn’t given up cello after 10th grade orchestra. I missed the ages - surprised no one is older than 70. I think this may be due to tech issues more than anything else. It takes a little tech know-how to make the recordings, upload them, etc. I'm sure there are cellists out there older than 70 who could participate - but if they aren't aware of the project, or don't feel comfortable using the tech to record and upload it, they may not be participating.

I get it - yet I know of people in their 70s, 80s - and a couple in their 90s - who are or were comfortable with technology, and who knew more than those younger than they were. My aunt, who passed away in her late 90s, `emailed and visited virtually, put together photo albums, etc. She told me a relative once expressed surprise and she said something like, honey, I was weaned on DOS, which was around when you were in diapers. Yeah, she probably was an exception, and there’s truth to what you’re saying, but lots of people in their 70s have been using computers since the 1980s or so. I wonder where the older musicians are - in this case cellists - any organizations they belong to or music schools that know if them. I’ve love to see the age zoom up. And what a wonderful performance - watched/listened twice. So far.
