You’re too kind!! Your trees are so cute—live the colors, they’re so fresh looking (I’m sick of glitter and bling! Lol) I have been super busy and this weekend I rested! Back at it tomorrow!! This one is for a historical home that started tours thanksgiving evening. They asked us to do a not so Disney version of Frozen (and I had never seen the movie!!!) myself and 2 others decorated the 10’ tree, the long garland below the stained glass window in the background, and an arch made of 2 skinny trees bowed over and connected at the to of the stairs in one day!!! And we did not put that fugly hat on the reindeer!!! My friend works here and I asked him to go hide it! I think the tree looks better naturally lit, in this photo, it had photography lights on it.

This is the top of the 20’ tree I decorate every year. Takes a whole day to do, with 2 people prepping ornaments and florals, one handing up ornaments and a designer placing them! Went for a very floral more natural artistic look this year. I’m slowly changing all their decorations out each year to change it up.

Mantle I’m working on now…waiting on at 4’ long custom sign that reads “winter wonderland” to come so I can finish. It’s all snowflakes and white with a bit of platinum.

I’m waiting to hear if I’m part of a team going in to decorate another local historical mansion (manor) here—if so, my part is to make 245 paper fan/rosettes from 6” to 12” in diameter…I estimate that to take 2-12 hrs days to make them and it has to be installed by Friday!!!
Nothing like waiting until the last minute!
I have 2 more trees (so far) to decorate for clients and 6 homes with porch pots full of pine greens, birch, pinecones and berries…
My/our own flamingo tree will get done likely mid December.

We just finished our two today. I still have a small one for our bedroom but that room is a mess right now. Maybe tomorrow! The blue one is mostly beach themed, along with pictures of loved ones. It's in our dining room. The other is our main living area and it's a new tree this year, the first time I've not had a smaller slim tree. I was looking for a sparse Scandinavian looking old fashioned shape but we love it! Okay, I LOVE the black buffalo check with the beachy colors. Such a statement, and not one I’ve seen before!

The logistics alone of decorating a 20’ tree are… daunting, but I would also imagine it’s really difficult (and expensive!) to get ornaments big enough for it! Your standard 3” ball just won’t work. 😂

Your standard 3” ball just won’t work. 😂 It’s takes a ton of the 3” balls, lol!!! I use them more inside the tree than outwards. I probably use upwards of 200--300 ball ornaments on a 9’ tree (mostly inside for reflection and depth) on the tree in the first picture, I think I used about 350-400 ball ornaments. It’s hard to shop for larger ornaments, I’m the girl buying 3-4 carts of ornaments in July when they’re putting them out, I also order through wholesalers but this year, only a part of what I ordered came in, everything else was delayed. I definitely lay out thousands of dollars purchasing ornaments and decorations early in the season or a year before if I can— Decorating trees for “production” (meaning no sentimental attachment) is a lot different than doing the ones in your own home. It turns into a “task” on a list of things to do.

I put up three more trees! I don't know what's keeping all you slackers. 😜😉 (oh, wait, "slacker", that's me!) These are trees I made out of 6foot 1x8 rough sawn cedar and stars of wood. And rusty, old square nails to hang ornaments, garland or whatever suits your fancy. One year it was simply a couple of red birds perched. The front one has fairy lights, for now at least. Truthfully, I love all your Christmas trees! I don't know if I'll do a "normal" one this year or if ever. We'll see. Didn't bring the prelit one I had with when I moved and haven't bothered replacing yet. I'm pondering making a big wall hanging/hugging one out of reclaimed wood for under the peaked ceiling. But its design/look is still rolling around in my brain forming. I tend to let ideas simmer there until it becomes clear what I'd like to do. Maybe have it done for next year. Maybe change course and mind completely, who knows. http://instagram.com/p/CW3yO-cvNqc

This year I did navy, blush and gun metal grey on my tinsel tree. I think the colors show much better without the lights on.

I love this story! Can we see some close ups of some of the ornaments?[/quote] One of the two oldest from my great grandparents. Another great grandparent one. He’s practically see-through now. I have a few mercury glass animals from my grandparents’ tree. Many of my ornaments on this tree are like the velveteen rabbit. So loved they have ‘issues.’ Poor little fish lost his spun glass tail many years ago. Somehow it just gives them all more charm to me.

This year we are not able to decorate but with my husband’s help on the computer we put this together. They are photos of birds from our garden that he takes from the kitchen window and he put them altogether on our fence . I then spent several happy hours on a knitting pattern site trying to find hats for each bird and looking at sites that sold garlands . We have got some new bird food and the birds love it , so it is like we get to know them because they visit for hours each day.

So far, I've worked my fingers to the bone putting up 3 trees in the living room windows. Ok, ok! I pulled them out of the boxes and plugged them in. Have yet to hide the cords and bases but don't push it, these things take time! 😜 ETA extra photo added for kitty porn. Little girl in big bro's bed. I'd say she's enjoy the sparkle but the 💤 say otherwise. You MUST be EXHAUSTED!! lol.. they look pretty though!!

@ktc what kind of birds are they? The blue and yellow look like our chickadees, only not black and white. And that looks like a bluebird next to him but with a very vibrant orange. The black one looks like some type of thrush? So cute!

All gorgeous!!!!!!!!!! Thank you all for posting. Made me smile!! I'm lucky that DD and I decorated at all this year while we're in mourning, but we did put some up........
papercrafteradvocate : O M G....... Can't tell you how breathtaking those pics were. What a talent you have!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I first bought my house, I put up a 9' (?) tree in my living room with all handmade decorations that matched the room. I put another 9' tree in my bedroom and handmade those decorations too--matched the decor of that bedroom. I put trees in my my kids' bedrooms too. I'd transform my house into a winter wonderland, complete with Christmas china, etc...... LOVED doing it all. You take it to another level and it's a beautiful thing just to look at it all!!!!!!!!!!
BTW, I, personally LOVE my Victorian Santa heads. DD and DS can't stand them. They think they're "creepy". But seeing them on one tree there made me smile!!!!!!!!!!!!!! xo
(I'd take pics of my very limited decorating this year but honestly, my heart wasn't in it at all!).

Hi Zee , Thanks they are cute, Blue Tit - are the small blue and yellow birds. Robin Red Breast - is the medium brown and red bird . Blackbird - is larger and part of the Thrush family I think.

Those historical homes and their decor are gorgeous! And I love the photos and stories abut nostalgic and antique decorations and/or ornaments. Those kinds of trees are some of my favorites!! I have soooooo many ornaments, but most years I hand the kids their bins and let them decorate the tree(s) with mostly theirs instead.

One of the two oldest from my great grandparents. Yours are unique - I've never seen any just like those. Thank you for sharing! I'm sure you know but the top one has a kugel top, and both are German made. The dog looks like Italian blown glass. The fish tail can be replaced. You can buy spun glass tails on ebay.

My short little stormtrooper stands guard in the bathroom. He's festively adorned right now. Silly, but makes me smile. I've been, for some reason, taking pictures of a lot of little Christmas stuff this year. Maybe because new place and want to remember what I did this year to make it easier the following. Copy/paste and then change up a bit if want. I was in my old place so long I didn't have to think about it, KWIM? This photo is now my current phone screensaver and wallpaper. 😂 http://instagram.com/p/CXjqCPkvXxi That ☝️ Santa has been with me so far back I barely remember an adult Christmas without him.

I am so late getting my tree up, so I decided I was only going to do lights and bows. I have a young cat that is crazy, and I don't trust her, and I don't want my ornaments to get broken. Good thing after what I have witnessed the past two days. She climbs the tree like a champ. LOL (I think!) I have an 8 foot tree, and she climbs up the inside, almost to the top.
