I boiled mine like I usually do, but they were almost impossible to peel. They were Eggland's best, does that make a difference?

I finally discovered a method that works for me. I get the pot of water boiling and then add the eggs carefully with a slotted spoon. I turn the burner down to a low boil and cook for 13 minutes. Then drain and cover the eggs with cold water. I even add ice if I have it. I’ll leave them there until they cool down and then I store them in the fridge. They always peel nicely.

I grew up on a farm. My mother always said if the eggs were very fresh they would not peel easily.

I purchase hard boiled eggs from the grocery store.
Ain’t nobody got time for that.

I peel my hot eggs under cold running water. There is usually no problem peeling them. I usually buy Eggland's Best.

Bring to a boil. Immediately turn off and cover.
Wait 10 min.
Immediately place in ice bath.
Wait 10 minutes.
Peel.

I've finally discovered that steaming eggs works best.
Place the eggs in a steamer basket over a few inches of boiling water. Cover and leave it boiling over high heat for 15 minutes.
Move eggs to a bowl of ice water for a few minutes to stop the cooking. They peel really easily.

I use my rice cooker/steamer. I cook them in there 18 minutes then put them in ice water.

I make them in an electric pressure cooker. They peel easily. I could make them without any trouble on the stove top, but could never get them to peel well.

Steam them next time, the shells will come right off. Use a covered pan and a steamer basket, or your instant pot if you have one. Life changing

Instant Pot. I am given straight from the chicken eggs once a week. No matter how fresh, they peel like a charm!

My mother always said if the eggs were very fresh they would not peel easily. I buy 18 extra large at a time and let them sit in the refrigerator for a while before boiling. I put the eggs in a pan, cover with water, bring to a boil then take off the burner and let sit for about 6 minutes. Cold water bath then in the refrigerator. We don't like the yokes fully hard cooked so this method works for us. I always peel under running water.

I boiled 2 dz eggs... the 1st didn't peel pretty so i ate it... lol.. but it was really just my way of checking to see if the yolk was done before it went gray...
I put them in a pot.. covered with water... brought to a boil for about 5 mins... then shut off burner and let them sit for awhile... dumped out hot water n added cold but not ice...
Ill let them cool and put them in fridge... ill peel them tomorrow... the pretty eggs will become "yellow angel pockets"... lmao... the bad peeled will go in dressing or gravy..

I use my dash maker. Makes six eggs at a time.
After it beeps (loudly!) I put the eggs in an ice bath for a few minutes and then put them in the fridge.
One thing I noticed (may just be my situation) is that if I put them on the top shelf of my fridge, it is colder and they are a lot more difficult to peel.
If I put them on a lower shelf, they are a lot easier to peel.

I cook them in my Instapot. I do them at high pressure for 3 minutes then do a quick release. I immediately fill the pot with cold water. They shells peel off super easy.

The instant pot makes perfect eggs every time that peel in seconds.
Alternative method. Put eggs in pot of water and bring to boil. Turn off burner, cover and let stand 13 minutes. Run under cold water to peel. No guarantees on peeling well!

Use older eggs and add a dash of vinegar to the water. Easy to peel.

I have an egg cooker that boil does six eggs at a time and it comes with a little cup for the water to be measured in with a pointy thing on bottom you poke a hole in each egg before cooking. They are always easy to peel, even fresh egs.

I love how everyone’s default is hard-boiled. I hate hard-boiled eggs! I put my eggs in cold water, bring to the boil, turn down the heat and leave for 3 minutes and 45 seconds. I crack them immediately I take them out of the water, and then scoop that wonderful just-set white and runny yolk onto a buttered crusty roll. I have been eating eggs this way my whole life, and there is nothing better! The idea of cold hard-boiled eggs makes me gag.

lesley  I love both! I'm just puzzled because I've never struggled to peel a hard boiled egg in my life. I don't do ice baths or anything, just crack the shell and pull it off in a couple of seconds. Once you get hold of the membrane that's just under the shell surface it just peels off in a few pieces. Maybe our eggs are different over here
