Time for another round of "what random thing is showing up in scrapbook products?" I lived through the chandeliers and mustaches periods. I still have no idea why those were a thing.
I miss Amy Tangerine- that line always had the best selection of random objects.
Showing up this Christmas- sweaters and pickup trucks with Christmas trees (just like the "pickup trucks with pumpkins" season last month). Lots and lots of pickup trucks. Gnomes seem to be going strong. Even Vicki Boutin's line had one, and that doesn't seem to be her style at all.
I've noticed more farm lines recently. I wonder what is driving that? Lots of cows and chickens lately and not enough dogs and cats.
I can't think of a random fruit or random animal that has been dominating lately. No more sloths, llamas, pineapples, or avocados. Of course, this isn't the right season.
Also, on another topic- how many Valentine lines does one person really need? It isn't like there is a Valentine season- one layout and you are probably done for the year.

pickup trucks have been around a couple of years - flowers in the spring, pumpkins/apples in the fall, Christmas trees for winter. I'm happy with the gnomes - I love them - but yeah, they are everywhere at the moment.
Valentine lines? I buy the papers for the B-sides but otherwise? no, no need really

I love the gnomes but they are indeed everywhere. And the truck/christmas tree thing isn't my aesthetic so it makes it easy to pass those by. And I agree, there are some holidays that don't need a full line every year unless you're making cards (I don't scrap Valentine's day but I sometimes do make V-day cards but I have enough generic love themed stuff I don't need to buy V-day papers). I'm trying to think what hasn't been used in scrapbook lines. I feel like it's all been done before. There's not much new or innovative or maybe it's because I'm an old grumpy grump who hates all things these days.

I haven't been paying attention but haven't noticed many new random motifs lately. I was bummed that the gnome thing took off just before I was going to carve my own stamps to make original cards - I liked them before they were everywhere! Yeti and Bigfoot seem to be the up and coming motif. The pickup truck should be almost over by now, it's been done so many times. I use Valentines stuff for cards but mostly need a new punny Valentine line from Doodlebug. But b-side hearts are great background for all the Valentine/Galentine/anniversary cards I make. I almost miss the flamingo, taco, tiger lines of yore. I guess AC hasn't put out much lately, or maybe I just haven't looked because I don't need any of it. I wouldn't mind some tropical plant, seashell, Hawaii themed stuff - not cheesy over the top or culturally appropriative stuff (no tiki, for the love of gods!). Damask Love had an amazing tropical plant print on navy that I should've bought more of, although I did buy quite a bit. August share by jo.blackford, on Flickr

My mom has a Valentine's birthday, so I use it a tiny bit more for that reason. I think the farm thing is because that decor theme is still going strong, at least where I live. I just got back from a craft fair and it was everywhere. Not a whole lot of gnomes though.
Someone said on another thread they've seen too many motel key chain motifs. I haven't though and wouldn't mind something like that for road trips and I'm a Schitt's Creek fan.
Rainbows seem popular still, but I don't mind them. I haven't paid a lot of attention to new lines to see a pattern except for trucks and gnomes.

I lived through the chandeliers and mustaches periods. Please excuse me while I, as a fellow survivor of that period, have to go deal with the flashbacks this gave me

I think it will be around for a while longer. Yeti has been building steam for the past few years, but the Big Foot addition is newer. I agree on the farm/farmhouse - seems like every company has multiple lines now.

I think anything related to farmhouse is in overdrive right now. I've been watching Joanna Gaines for years, so it seems like that trend took a while to be overexposed.

I never thought about the farmhouse decorating thing going on. Yeah, that would help explain the influx of farm lines. My grandpa was a chicken farmer so I think I can use it for a few pages. The Simple Stories Vintage farmhouse line was really nice.
I noticed Doodlebug was using a yeti, but I think they used it last year, too. There are only so many ways that you can do snowmen and deer, so I can see why they are branching out. The new line has a goat (which I love- more goats please) and a narwhal.
I liked the truck thing for awhile but I think it is played out at this point.

The Amy Tangerine line Brave and Bold has a zebra paper. Like a paper with a bunch of little zebras on it. Why??
Agree about the farm lines.

I love Doodlebug designs, colors, papers, etc. But I am OVER having smiley faces on every sticker and embellishment and patterned paper. Everywhere! Smiley faces on aprons, vases, ovens, mixers, poptarts, flour, sugar, butter. Smiley faces on clouds, stars, leaves, balloons, cookies (even cookies with a bite out of them! If someone had taken a bite out of you would you be smiling?). The Cute and Crafty line is especially aggravating. Smiley faces on cameras, scissors, soda cans, staplers, printers, trimmers, albums, pens, jars, glue guns, sewing machines - oh my gosh it's just too much.
Sorry for the rant. I got carried away. Clearly I have issues.

The Amy Tangerine line Brave and Bold has a zebra paper. Like a paper with a bunch of little zebras on it. Why?? Agree about the farm lines. Maggie Holmes had a line with zebras in it. I used it on a cat page because my cat was sitting on sheets with zebras on them. Someone asked me why I used zebras. I had to point out the sheets. That's what I get when I try to bring in a (not so) random icon. It would also work for a zoo page, of course. I miss Amy Tangerine. I loved the randomness of everything. It was fun to figure out what to do with her die cuts. I usually could work them into kid or animal pages.
