The newish neighbor started a Facebook neighborhood group after random people pulled in their driveway during the night. (They had trail cams and weren't expecting anyone).
A newer neighbor posted in the group last night. Someone stole the port a potty that was on their property. And it took over a week to notice.
First off, why in the hell would someone steal a port a potty? And if it is the property I think it is, someone is there every time I go to town (daily) so I have no idea how it would take a week plus to notice.

Inquiring minds:
1. The family is upset because someone pulled in the driveway and turned around? really?
2. Why is a port a potty on the property permanently?
3. Wonder if the company who services port a potty removed it for non payment........

They have also said they had other tresspassers around the same time. 2. Port a potty was at a site with construction. A lot of new construction going on in neighborhood. 3. I guess they could.

Heaven forbid someone get lost and need a spot to turn around. Within 5 minutes there will be a facebook post complete with a description of vehicle and driver and why they looked "suspicious". Sometimes there's even a photo.

I would not even attempt to count the number of times in my 50 years of driving that I have turned around by pulling into someone's driveway.
If this is a new housing area, I can believe that a lot of people might be pulling into a driveway to check the directions AGAIN, or confirm that they are really going where they want to go....staying longer because it might involve a phone call or a check of the map. After the neighborhood is established I would anticipate that the number of cars turning around would decline.

Here it's NextDoor and heaven forbid a helicopter is heard anywhere! There will be at least 5 SEPARATE posts asking what the helicopter is doing, it makes me laugh so hard every time!

And interspersed with the helicopter threads, there are bi-weekly “what kind of snake is this?” threads which are inevitably responded to with several dozen “I don’t know, but kill it” posts. Followed by “what kind of insect is this?” threads to which people respond “I don’t know, but kill it.” Not to mention the “I have mice” threads (which you might not have if people weren’t running around killing all the snakes) in which people give a variety of methods for killing those. People in my greater neighborhood on NextDoor really don’t like wildlife. ☹️

That reminds me of a few weeks ago when we were going to a restaurant. I told DH to turn into the wrong side street, and he had to turn around in a driveway. A car came down the side street just behind us, and we were a little embarrassed thinking that we turned into their driveway. But no, that car turned around in the same driveway just after we did. Then they followed us into the restaurant. That poor house on the wrong side street must get a lot of turnarounds.
I wonder if we both made it onto their NextDoor?

I don't belong to any of these neighborhood groups, but there has been a big increase in crimes like breaking into cars, stealing cars or their parts, breaking into houses through the garage not to mention package theft so I would be concerned if someone pulled into my driveway at night and sat there for a few minutes. Not call the police concerned, but put on a light so they know that someone is home and awake concerned. My street is wide enough for a uturn so people don't really turn in driveways here so the incident would be unusual enough for concern.

i think a stolen port-a-potty warrants a post on the local page!! how do ya not notice for a week or two... but okay.
i saw someone had a sign by the end of their driveway once saying not to use their driveway to turn around. lol! they were the first house on the first street after exiting a parking lot that you could only turn right, not left. so i guess lots of people get to their house and turnaround.
our local FB page has the coyote sightings (like play by play, "it's on ivy, heading east" followed by "i just saw it, going north on galt avenue").
in addition to complaining about air ambulance helicopters - hey they are pretty loud but is a *minute and a half* of your life and someone is CRITICALLY INJURED!!!
and then nest or ring videos posted of people knocking on their doors and looking around. "that's so shifty", "did you call the police??", "i am scared *for* you!!!".... i recognized the guy, he had been on my street earlier that day... going door-to-door offering gutter cleaning.
people are funny.

We are in the path of Flight for Life for several cities south of us. We'd be calling a lot. We're also just a few streets away from a military base's property and I guess I don't even notice the helicopters. Now when they are flying low and flash a bright light into your bedroom at night, that is a little worrisome.

Yesterday someone in my neighborhood group asked if anyone else noticed that the earth's rotation slowed.
They were serious.
They have documents going back over 10 years showing an increase in the frequency of these episodes of slowing.
I think a mental health check might be in order.

I seek nothing wrong with pulling into someone’s driveway to make a U-turn but having someone park in your driveway for several minutes in the middle off the night is a little bizarre. They could just as easily stop by the curb to do whatever they are doing.

We have a base not far and for Vetern's day they got out one of their massive bombers along with 3 F16's and did a flyover of Levi Stadium for a football game. There were 24 posts about the plane because it was NOT normal to see. Someone said it was probably a hi-jacking, others thought it was AirForce 1 with escorts. It was entertaining to say the least! The one's I hate are when the helicopter is flying and then speaking on their loud speaker, NO ONE can understand what they are saying. Thank goodness those are very rare!

This is my town's FB page. Over and over and over again. Yep. Along with "does anyone know what is going on on __________ road??" My very favorite though is when someone posts, "Does anyone know the hours of XYZ Business?" I always want to respond, "OMG...in the time it took you to post that, you could have googled it or called them!" But I'm not an a$$hole so I keep my thoughts to myself. LOL
