Do you ever miss blogging? Reading blogs?
I know everyone is on you tube and Instagram but I really miss blogging. I feel like Instagram is such a 'short' snippet and I suck at making you tube videos and blogging kinda gave me a place to put all my thoughts down.
Anyway, just a random thought.

I do miss reading them, there were so many I used to visit now practically none of them have updated since 2015. I guess that was the year everyone decided to give up blogging.

It's funny, as people began transitioning away from blogging, I slowly stopped checking my blog feed reader and just stopped even thinking about it. I do miss some aspects of it, but speaking for crafty blogging, I appreciate that there are so many video tutorials now. I'm the kind of person who has a hard time reading instructions and translating them into physical actions, so videos are much better for me.
The one thing I don't miss about blogs? All the ads, especially blinking ads, and the blogs that automatically played music when you visited them. It just got to be so distracting, even though I know it was a way to support the blogger. I know Instagram has built-in ads too, but at least they're part of the feed and not cluttering up the periphery.

I still follow quite a few blogs. I even still keep track using Feedly. Funny thing: I even track YouTube account new activity via Feedly. I subscribe to lots of YouTube accounts but don't get my notifications via YouTube. The ones I don't want to miss are setup in Feedly so I can see new content for both blogs and YouTube in one place.

Ohh I didn't know you could do that. That is very good to know. I don't get notifications either and I am not sure why.

I just setup my Feedly by adding a New Source using the URL address from the YouTube account Videos page (not Home page). I then have on Feedly all of my YouTube sources grouped together. I can even watch the videos directly within Feedly (as long as the YouTube account holder hasn't disabled the third party watch option - which one that I follow has).

I’m going to set this up.

I used to have time to read blogs on various topics but now I just don’t. I prefer YouTube since I can multitask and watch while cooking or cleaning the kitchen.

I was happy when I discovered Pinterest and Instagram because I'm a simple scrapper. I'm good with photos for inspiration. Since then, Pinterest has become pure crap for searching. Instagram added stories and reels. I also miss a lot of stuff because of their stupid algorithms.
Now, I DO miss blogs.

I do miss them but still check in on a few from time to time. Instagram and Pinterest are great but there was something a touch more intimate with blogs that made you feel like you were a part of someones life experience that I don't entirely get from Instagram. Instagram does give you the ability to discover so many more people and accounts so there is pros and cons to both.

Too funny, I was just thinking about that this weekend. I felt like with a blogs, I got to know the creators/artists a bit more. I know how much work it is for them but I miss the deeper dive and learning more about the story of both the photo and/or technique used. The only blog I regularly still check in on is Balzer Designs. Julie still posts a couple of times per week, but even hers, I usually only check a couple of times per month.

I still follow quite a few blogs. I even still keep track using Feedly. Me too. Except I use 'The Old Reader'. Blogs are great. I'm not ever giving them up.

I still love blogs. I am painfully aware of the short attention span cycle these days but I march on with my old habits and ways. It's really nice to see some bloggers carrying on the torch. Some have even picked it up again, too, during the pandemic. Give me blog articles where people are given the space to write and lay their personality and life bare!

I still read blogs, and I still post to mine occasionally. In an effort to ramp up my small jewelry making business, I'm planning to start posting more regularly on mine in the new year.

I have 2 blogs. I don't remember where they are, what the passwords are, or how to work it if I did figure everything out. I do remember I had a bunch of stuff on there and somehow deleted it all. That was when I decided I don't really need this. I do feel a little guilty that I have those things clogging up the internet somehow.
