I know there are some Mac people an some Silhouette people here -- I hope there is a "Venn" overlap! I've read that Monteray - the new OS for Mac - is playing havoc with some people's Silhouettes. I have a Cameo 2 and I'm running Catalina on my Mac desktop -- and everything is just dandy -- my Cameo has never run and cut better, the computer (while older) is still doing very well. I'm in the camp of leave it alone -- especially if updating to newest OS is going to mess up my Cameo.
Any insight - opinions ??

I've not updated yet for this reason. Also I use an old Cameo 2 and an old version of Silhouette Studio and I'm pretty sure they won't work w/anything new.
Looking forward to hearing from others.

My macbook won't update past Catalina because it's so old (2012) so I'm no help. But, I will be getting a new Macbook in the next month or so, so that doesn't help either right now.

I am running Monterey and haven't had any problems (other than my usual self inflected problems).

I haven't had my Silhouette out yet. Hope it works.

I'd finish any project before updating. I usually wait a week or so before any updates anyway. That way they can work out all the bugs and other apps can update their info. And I always keep the previous version of the Silhouette software, just in case! I can easily launch whichever version I prefer. Good luck!

Seems like the informaiton mentioned Bluetooth ... I'll look for the information and verify
Edit -- here is one statement
I am having issues with my bluetooth devices after updating to Monterey, printer, Cameo 4, bluetooth mouse, ipad, earpods, had to hard wire the printer in the end, i think to many devices using bluetooth with Monterey it just cant cope, was all fine before the update

Watching this thread carefully! I got my first macbook air a couple months ago and have the 2nd silhouette portrait, so super old...and I did download the most recent silhouette software and it is running okay--but I am running the Big Sur OS on my macbook. Nothing has prompted me to update past that so I haven't.

So I have the Silhouette Cameo. I don't know what version. It just says Silhouette Cameo. I just had to replace my IMac. My tech guy is afraid the Cameo won't work with the new operating system. If Silhouette has software updates, wouldn't that take care of things? The computer is with him now so we will see! I really don't want to have to purchase another system.

Silhouette is very good about coming out with new versions of software. IMO, it runs better with an iMac vs a PC. Sometimes it takes a week or so for Silhouette to come up with the update, but I never update right away anyway unless it's a big security issue. It's likely that your computer guy just isn't familiar with the Silhouette software. Unless you have a digital cutter, you wouldn't use the software. Probably he just doesn't get a lot of crafters using a digital cutter.

Both the Mac and Sil will even recognize each other, say they are connected, but no matter what I do will not connect. So now I have to string a long cord to hard wire connect them which requires me to move my silhouette. It’s a Cameo 3.

I have a Cameo 2, so I don’t use Bluetooth since it doesn’t have it. I too have a long cord! But that would be frustrating. Have you called the silhouette support line? I hear that they are very good with their tech support.

There are "real people" at Silhouette -- but they try to first resolve any issues via email and "photo or video" of problem. And getting that first reponse is pretty slow.
