I am looking to buy a small printer to print while traveling.
A few years ago I bought a Polaroid zinc/zink (?) and it was crap. It printed one photo before dying.
I'd like to be able to print up to 3X4. I don't need it to be bigger.
I don't need the printer to fit in my pocket. I'm talking car trips, not backpacking or walking the streets of NYC.
But I would like something that will easily fit in a suitcase or in the glove box of the car.
Any recommendations?
Definitely color. Definitely the best print quality possible. I do not mind shelling out cash for a decent product.
Thanks!!!

Most of those small format portable printers use the "zink" technology so in my opinion they are all about the same quality of printer. I have heard good things about the HP Sprocket or the Canon Ivy. There is a Polaroid that is a dye sublimation printer, is this the one you had? polaroid hi printThe major downside to the Zink printers is that the ink will fade over time, they are not meant to last more that 4-5 years. Either a dye sublimation or a standard inkjet would be much better, so you'd have to go with a Canon Selphy or the Epson Picturemate PM-400. I know this doesn't really answer your question, but it may help with your choice. I'll ask around to see if any of my tech friends have any suggestions.

I did not know that the ink will fade. I will look into both of those for size. But any other information would be helpful. Thank you! We have a VW camper and I carry a small container of scrapping supplies and make travel journals when we take longer trips. I really want to be able to print photos on the road. Sometimes we take the instax but the quality is not very good.

I would look at the Epson PM-400. Pretty sure you could fit it in a larger glove box. The Cannon Selphy is a bit smaller. But, I prefer the Epson.

Get the Epson PM-400. Much better than Selphy because it prints true 4 x 6 photos (and 5 x 7) and it doesn't have little perforations on the ends.

Another vote for the picture mate. You could make simple collages with the creative print app and print smaller size easily on 4x6

While the PM is small enough to transport, it's still bigger than I was hoping for. I might just end up buying another (but bigger) polaroid camera to have some variety with the instax size.

I would go with the Epson, hands down.
For fun, I have the Sprocket. It prints credit card size photos. Zink ink and paper. I use it to print smaller photos for my journals. I have had it several years now and have had no problem with it. It slips down into my purse or tote. I bought a hard drive neoprene type of case to keep it, the charging cords and extra packs of paper in. A perfect combo.

I have the Epson and the Sprocket. I LOVE both but use the Sprocket for smaller journals.
