How did you reorg your paper?
My stamps are a hot mess too - I need to put that on the list for 2022. I’d like to “swatch” them and organize. I swatched my inks this year and that’s been so helpful!
I'll try to explain the best I can, it's pretty much a spin off of the paper organizing in the scrapbook.com class that
msliz referenced, it might sound more complicated than it really is. Sorry it's so long.
www.scrapbook.com/classes/Get_Organized_Scrapbook_Storage_Solutions.htmlAnyway, my solid cardstock is divided into 12x12 and 8.5x11, sorted in ROYBIV order and then the 8.5x11 is in magazine holders on my Kallax shelf, and the 12x12 is in divided jetmax cubes stacked in my closet.
Here is where my friend that scrapbooks and I each take a different path. My path first, lol.
My collections by designer or name are kept separate, in 12x12 stacking sterilite drawer containers. I might have 3-5 collections in each drawer. For example, Shimelle gets her own drawer, while Indigo and Ivy, ArtWalk, Prima Poetic Rose and Spring Market all share a drawer. Vicki B has 2 (!!!) drawers. October Afternoon Sasparilla shares a drawer with HS Wolfpack and Echo Park Little Lumberjack, ect... I have 3 of these bins, for 9 drawers total.
I then have paper by theme. Christmas and all its embellishments are in a Iris container. Same with Winter and Fall and Halloween. Because I have so little Spring and Summer specific, they are together in a container.
I have a Iris container for "Other holidays"-in it are paper for Easter, 4th of July, Valentine's Day, St. Patty's day.
One for Food, (baking, coffee, cake, ect)
One for Birthday
One for kids/baby/school
One for Beach-Ocean
One for Beach-Lake
One for Travel
One for "Random Pattered Paper"
One for "Random Story Paper"-this is a tip I picked up from Janet at RTS. She said that she keeps all her loose "one of" sheets of paper that "tell a story" in a container. So if I am scrapping going for a walk I might go and look through the "Random story paper" bin to see if there was anything good in there.
I have 2 12x12 magazine-type holders that fit onto the shelf in my Kallax for "tone on tone" paper. (see my previous thread where I "murdered" all my DCWV paper pads lol) Anyway. I ripped all my paper pads apart and put all the paper where it goes-and I lot was pattered paper, but all one color, so tone on tone. That is also in ROYGBIV order.
So to sum up, 3-3 drawer cubes. 9 Iris (or 12x12) boxes, (4 stack nicely on the cubes, the rest go on top of the Kallax, like the seasonal ones) 2-12x12 Kallax magazine holders, 3-8.5x11 magazine holders, and 4 jetmax cubes stuffed full, lol. My big thing is it is all labeled. Any how do I label? Masking tape and a sharpie, lol. It works the best for me. It's bold, I can see it, I can change it easily and I can read my own handwriting!
Now, my friend does not pay any attention to designers. She does not know Shimelle, or Vicki B. I tried to get her to watch some youtube stuff and she hated it. She orders most supplies from CM, and also shops at JA or M's. Never scrapbook.com or anything like that. So....
Her solid paper is organized the same.
She has her paper all sorted by theme. I asked what her themes are, and they are: Holidays, Seasons (one container for each holiday and season, so 8 or 10 total I think), Disney, Kids, Birthday, Graduation, Wedding/Special Occasion, Outdoor, Travel, Special Events (like festivals, or theater/concert stuff) and general. These are all in 12x12 containers, in these cases Michaels sells
www.michaels.com/modular-mobile-panel-tower-by-simply-tidy/10624098.htmlPersonally, those take up wayyyyy to much space for me, but she loves them.
She also has 2 cubes on her Kallax shelf that have 12x12 pads.
If were to be scrapping ice cream, she would go to Summer, as that is a Summer activity to her. To me, that is a food and so it goes in food.
I JUST swatched my inks! I love how helpful that has been. Best clip on organizing ever
