I haven’t had any trouble with mine. But have you tried layering paper to bump up your work a little? Like a shim?

Are you using a background stamp? If I have trouble I use it on the top of my 2x2 IKEA unit. Or take it to the kitchen and use it on the kitchen counter (granite). My table top has "give" and it's not sturdy enough. It's weird that I only have trouble with a few background stamps, most all work fine. I've never had problems with smaller stamps.
Also try putting the stamp in a different spot on the platform. Not in the corner.

I was stamping at very top of the page, so at the top of the platform. Maybe that was the problem...thank you!

I am so happy to read that you both honeypea and @giantsfan like your Tim Holtz platforms. I really want to like this! I can stamp a lot more than with my beloved 5x6 Misti.

Turn it the other way around and press-rub the anti-slip bottom instead. Beware: it can get too juicy this way depending on the ink you're using.

This may be a crazy answer, but I've done it a time or two myself. Make sure your magnets aren't close to the edge. If you get them in the wrong place they will keep the lid from closing completely. And don't I feel dumb when I figure that out!

There are areas on my Big Tim that don't stamp as well as others. Also be careful that your magnets are not positioned in a way that will interfere. I usually keep a piece of cardstock in my platform as a shim, fun foam might also work. And I sometimes need to double check that I haven't over-logicked the problem and actually turned it back to the cling stamp side by accident (sometimes my brain gets confused so I put a sticker on the side that I usually need facing up).

I am not thrilled with my Tim Holtz platform. I don't think it works as well as the platform that shall not be named. I find that a very thin piece of foam helps a lot. I have some packing foam, even thinner than fun foam that makes a huge difference in the stamped image.

Also, some stamps are not as thick and don't seem to stamp well. I have a few cheaper clear stamps that seem to have that problem. Like others have said-try using something as a shim. I have also gotten the magnets in the way. Glad to read I'm not the only one! LOL!

I have a piece of fun foam in mine and don't have any issues. As others mentioned, be aware of placing the magnets out of the way.

I use repositionable tape instead of the magnets most of the time. And I stamp only on a firm surface (solid wood or granite).

These are all great ideas!! Thank you so much! I knew you all had the answer. I am looking forward to trying this all out. As soon as I finish addressing my Christmas cards. If I don't get them in tomorrow's mail...odds are good that they won't arrive by the end of the week.

Oh yes, folding tables are terrible - before I got a wooden desk I used to take my platform into the kitchen so I could stamp on tile. Or I would move my platform to the very edge of the folding table where there was less give.

Ditto this. I also have issues with my TH platform if I use it on a folding table.

Firmness of table and magnets are usually the culprit. I ran into the magnet thing making Christmas cards. I couldn’t figure out the problem until I moved onto the next piece and moved the magnet. It’s was for sure a d’oh! moment.

I think the trick to stamping is you really need foam. If your stamp doesn't have foam, you have to provide it. Either a foam mat or a foam backing to your stamp. Also, take your time. The ink will release from the stamp faster than the paper can adsorb it. I was told years ago to count to ten. I still do that.

I echo what others have said about needing foam. I've had some issues with the TH stamping platform with the ink coming out evenly on an image.
I really like the Crafters Companion stamping platform with the magnetic base. I prefer being able to press down on the paper and apply even pressure with the CC.

I switched to thinner magnets and for background stamps use a piece of packing foam used between dishes - I dont have fun foam. That said, initially there apparently was a run where some didn’t close perfectly, and Tonic replaced them for anyone who wrote to them. But that window may be long gone.

Also try putting the stamp in a different spot on the platform. Not in the corner. This was my first thought. I'm interested to read about using packing foam - I may try that, even though I have no complaints about my TH platform.

Cutting down a Silhouette or Cricut mat also works, it's just sticky enough to hold.

For the stamp positioners the foam can be on top the stamp or under the paper. Fun foam is the right thickness. If you use a rubber stamp with foam attached, that is plenty. Most positioners come with a foam insert you place on the deck under the paper, and remove for stamping with rubber stamps.

Where do you put the foam and can you link to the magnets? I've used foam only with large background stamps and it’s placed under the cardstock. I think the magnets may have been from CMS but searched and am not sure. My apologies - it’s been several years. If there’s just a small area that doesn’t stamp well another option is to try shimming with a few small pieces of cardstock just under that specific spot to even things out.

I use a piece of fun foam in my platform. Then instead of magnets, I use sticky grid from Sizzix to hold the fun foam in place and a piece of sticky grid on top to hold my card stock. I get about 10-15 stamps from a piece of sticky grid. It's inexpensive and works so much better than magnets. The fun foam provides enough shim for stamping with large stamps. My table also has give but since adding the fun foam, no problems. I love my Stamping Platform. I had the Misti and it didn't work for me.

I make sure to mount my foam stamps lower on the platform, so I generally adhere from the bottom up if that makes sense. I have way better results this way. I find the cling stamps are too thick when too close to the hinge.

I find the cling stamps are too thick when too close to the hinge. That does make sense, and in fact, I had the stamps at the tip top of the platform, right next to the hinge...I'll try the middle, while I wait for my fun foam...
