Why? Why do manufacturers still use epoxy in their embellishments? Have we learned nothing from the past?
I am always so disappointed when I think I'm buying something enamel or acrylic and it turns out to be epoxy.
I'm looking at you, Doodlebug. But they aren't the only ones. It is crazy to me to sell something that you know is eventually going to yellow and curl up. I had to redo some of my layouts from 20 years ago for that reason. It was so cute and now it is horrible.
I also had to pull off a lot of my flair- especially the October Afternoon ones. They were so pretty, too. Ugh.

I will no longer buy anything epoxy, because based on past experience it all yellows in the years to come.
The worst was Creative Imaginations. I had unopened packages and the contents all yellowed, I tossed them all. So much money wasted. I've replaced the ones that I had already used in my scrapbooks, because they all yellowed.

I do thinks supplies improve over the years. I do have epoxy items (not scrapbook related) that have held up. Not sure why scrapbook ones generally go bad. I have a ton of those epoxy clear stickers that go on the cut out punches of the same shape and some are still clear as day and other are yellow. Weird.

My October Afternoon flair rusted. I've used some other brands and they didn't. It bums me out because October Afternoon had the best flair.

All of mine have yellowed. I am with you and won’t buy any. Unfortunately, I do receive them in kits from time to time. Ugh!

Epoxy

I agree that manufacturers should stop using epoxy. Last year, I had a brief phase of being interested in resin crafts and watched a ton of YouTube videos. I watched the one below from Alumilite and it explains why, chemically, epoxy will ALWAYS yellow. Before I watched the video, I knew that epoxy had a tendency to yellow but I thought that maybe it was an issue because manufacturers used low quality materials. Nope, turns out even if you use epoxy that resists yellowing, it will still eventually yellow. Given this fact, it's even more puzzling that companies still use it!
The video is incredibly interesting and explanatory, even if you don't know much about chemistry, so I thought I'd share!
