This Christmas has been one of heartbreak ๐(from Logan: โIโm not really a Marvel guy.โ ๐คฏ What??) and hilarity as we experienced the difference between a WOW gift (Logan wants to be Elsa in the school play) vimeo.com/660161720and a WOW.JUST WOW. gift. (Jared refuses to admit Logan is taller, and continually tries to โbe tallerโ. Logan gave him lifts for inside his shoes. ๐) vimeo.com/660162163Did you watch the videos? ๐ they are short! We even saw Santa ride down the street on his trusty steed! I got a cricut joy on Black Friday. One of my first projects was a โGangsta Wrapperโ hat for Logan. Hereโs why! And no, he did NOT remove the utensils before wrapping! image hosting software Overall itโs been the best Christmas weโve had in a long time. Decorating was last minute, and there was just one batch of cookies baked (by Jared, not me); but this was a season of just BEing without a lot of expectations. vimeo.com/660218187We did what we could, took things as they came, and enjoyed each otherโs company and the gifts given and received. Remembering first and foremost the Savior we celebrate at Christmas. May favorite gift to give was to my new SIL. I got him a guitar strap engraved with his name. It came in a box also engraved with his name and a Bible verse inside the lid. He loved it! The thing that really filled my heart this Christmas? Thereโs a lady at my church who is in assisted living. Weโve recently become friends and fb friends, sheโs complained pretty vocally about the conditions there. (If you have family in these facilities, check on them. Covid restrictions are especially difficult on both residents and staff.) Iโve been able to bless her in little ways by sending fresh fruit, which is rarely served (she turned around and shared the blessing with other residents) and I sent a tiny living Christmas tree, which she said is the first tree sheโs had in 7 years. Anyway my small group was looking for ideas for a service project. We ended up giving gifts, filled stockings, to every resident of her facility and the local nursing home. So many of these folks feel forgotten. When I texted her on Christmas, I was able to tell her, โthis was because of you. You are making a difference where you are.โ She was so overwhelmed. She felt seen and cared for. And she felt like a difference maker. She immediately posted about it on fb, โDonโt ever believe you canโt make a difference.โ After that I knew regardless of what else happened, my Christmas was already complete. Merry Christmas with much love!

I love you so much, jenjie ! You continue to be a shining example of how to be a kind, giving, loving, grateful, strong, graceful woman. You live your religion every day, rather than giving it lip service. The world would be a much better place if more people were like you. I try to use you as an example to shift my behavior to be more giving and kind. Your family is lucky to have you. And I love Loganโs mad wrapping skills.

I had an appt the other day and the guy was asking me what I enjoy. But what do you do for YOU? stuff like this is for me as much as it is for the person on the other end. I guess you know I didnโt share to pat myself on the back, but her response just really warmed my heart and set a great tone to the day.

You are one of my favorite peas because your love for Christ shines through in everything you do and say. Y favorite part of your post is how you blessed so many who society has discarded and forgotten. I hope that we all learn from your thoughtfulness and become better people because we know you.

You are such a giving and generous person. Your Christmas story is just heartwarming. The videos are so much fun. I absolutely love the fact that your son can wrap that silverware package like that. Just incredible. jenjie , you take time from your life to give give give and I want you to get how special you truly are. We need more jenjie s in the world.

Everything you posted was so uplifting!! I have to begin with your family. The kids' humor and love is SO perfect!! I'm sure they bring you so much happiness. To see Logan excited for Jared to open that gift was great.
Logan's wrapping skills amaze me! Wow--great job! He's good at everything, huh??
The hat you made Logan was awesome! NO idea how your cricut works, but if you could label everything, I'm all in. His hat was so cool!!!!!!!!
You and your family are blessed and you continue to touch other people, make them feel wonderful by knowing that they touch other people. Your beliefs spill over into your life every single day and it's inspirational. You made that woman so happy and I'm sure that her entire assisted living place is that much happier now. Domino effect, and it's all because you took the time to lift her up. You are truly a helper in Christ's work. I'm SO proud to be your friend. Love you.

@bergdorfblonde Logan is like a savant when it comes to gift wrapping but other thingsโฆ I would love it if he could apply the same โwhatever it isโ to his schoolwork and other responsibilities!
It truly was just a contented Christmas. Youโll get there one day.

I just love reading this!!!! I cannot agree ENOUGH about how much seniors in nursing homes are forgotten. I love that turned into such a "love" project.
I am sooooooooooooo happy that you had such a warm and beautiful holiday with your family. Definitely gave me warm fuzzies reading about it.

jenjie, what a wonderful Christmas! If you are considering a service project for next year, I have an idea. A few years ago, my confirmation class put together advent calendars for residents in care. We included the gospel reading for the day and a little treat. It was very well received and gave the residents a little something to open each day. I do one for each of the kids, my parents, and my in-laws as well. It's a little time consuming to cut up and fold all the print outs, but it's an easy task that even young kids can help with.

I bought little pillow box gift card holders from Amazon and made the numbered tags (for the day of Advent) on my Silhouette. I put them in shoe boxes, clementine crates, or just colorful lunch sacks. I'd be happy to provide more detail if you want.

I love love love what you did for the residents at the assisted living !!!!! I used to take my doggies to visit nursing home residents, and the looks of pure JOY on their faces was.....omg! I have read that SIXTY PERCENT of them have *no* visitors. ever. And your cute sons---omg! I LOVED it when he jumped on his brother and kept saying "I hate you! I hate you!" and kissed his cheek. It reminded me of my fun nephews that I am missing soooo much! It's sooo nice to see happiness after all the grieving you've all been through! (( hugs ))
