Tough to keep your eye on the ball when it's curving like that. I'm so sorry. Keeping Dave tucked up safely in my thoughts. JoP oh dear, I'm so sorry. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

I’m sorry - that is really frustrating and disappointing. I would not drive in this, especially where you live.
I’d like to whine and vent about the same snowstorm. While I am very grateful it waited until after the kids made it safely home I’m now disappointed that many of my plans will be canceled the next few days. I’m supposed to be at the Seahawks game right now but the drive is not worth it - it would take hours to get there and the snow is supposed to continue through the evening so who knows what the drive home would entail.

I’m sorry MichyM . Such a bummer! My dds had to leave our house on Christmas Day at 5pm to go back home since we were really snowy up here! At least they had been with us since thursday evening already. But they went to dd1’s condo because she needed her ID for her trip to Hawaii early tomorrow morning and with the snow and temps they were worried about the driving if they waited any more. Luckily they made it fine - but it was very scary they said from my house to marysville. Now they are both staying at dd3’s place for her to drive dd1 to airport tomorrow really early - and avoid her/your area! I’m sorry your celebration was cut short :/ However, they were smart to get down to town and then off the hill last night! Everything crossed that things go smoothly in the morning! How much do you have up there?

Oh ugh, I’m so sorry! I’m watching it right now. Before things went south, we were planning on going to the game (if it wasn’t terribly cold and rainy) as well. Now I’m pretty glad we aren’t there with this weather. The stadium looks a little empty to me, so it looks like a lot of people didn’t want to brave any of it. Maybe they’ll win to make it up to both of us 😏

I’m watching the Seahawks game. Lots of snow. None here in western NY which is odd.

What a bummer! I'm so sorry! Particularly in areas where you don't get snow often, it's so much more difficult as most don't have proper tires, driving experience etc without adding in any hills. I hope that you can find a way to get together with them another time and have a proper visit!

That must be so disappointing for all of you. I live in a snowy state and I wouldnt try to go down a steep hill with 4" of snow on the ground! Dh's younger brother is on his way to the ER. He was diagnosed with Covid more than a week ago and is having trouble breathing. He is in his 30s and lives 4 hours away from us with his wife and 4 kids. If you have a prayer to spare, Dave could use them. Praying for Dave 🙏

MichyM That wasn't whining! You got hit with a bunch of disappointments that were not in the holiday plans. I'm so sorry!!
About your driving in that weather, I can totally agree with you!! I'd feel the same way. It's too bad either the ex or the guys couldn't figure out a way to get you there and back safely. (If it were me, I'd be freaking out in any car though).
So sorry it didn't turn out the way it should have. xo

I'm sorry your holiday has been so difficult. That has to be disappointing and I certainly don't think you are whining. I validate your disappointment. littlemama I'm keeping Dave in my prayers too.

MichyM I would like to take a seat next to you & add to the whining. It's not as bad as what your son & his partner have been through with the Covid scare, of course, but it started snowing here in my little town on Vancouver Island on Christmas Eve and it hasn't stopped. Like, it HAS. NOT. STOPPED. There is 2 feet of snow on my car; I'm trapped until someone can dig me out. We postponed Christmas, thinking we could do it today, and now.... who knows? So all my gifts are at my parents' place. Not to mention I'm almost out of milk for my tea. And potatoes. I was feeling very fine about it all on Friday... all, 'Meh, it's a day on the calendar, we can just celebrate it in a few days.' That's rapidly fading, as it gets closer to Wednesday, when my cousin & her daughter have to go back to Kelowna.

How much do you have up there? I think 6 inches? Too cold to stand out there long to determine for sure 😂. The airport run is at 4am so I’m Concerned about that.

I'll totally validate you - with a son who tested positive and comes out of isolation on Tuesday, I know he is lonely and bored and we were all looking forward to a differently planned holiday.
Will you be able to go and visit the boys maybe in the spring or summer? I would do a half-year holiday to make up for it! take care!!!

So sorry about your Christmas debacle. I really hope that next year is much better for you.
I would love a little down time where there are no expectations, but staying in a room quarantined is NOT the way to do it. Too much alone time inside four walls, for sure.

I am so sorry!
We are supposed to leave for vacation (rented a house on the coast) tomorrow. I don’t think we will be able to get out — we have to go down a hill, and right now that hill is a sheet of ice.
I shoveled our entire dead end by myself — most of our neighbors are at least 70, one has dementia, and one is literally a retired nun. There is a little condo complex on our dead end that only has young people (20s-30s). While I was shoveling in front of the neighbor’s house with dementia, one of the young guys came out and trotted on by without offering to help at all. Last year, one of them asked to borrow my snow shovel, and literally just dug out his car without even doing the sidewalk in front of his building. People!

The hospital sent BIL right back home, no meds. His Oxygen level was good even though he was having trouble breathing, so they didnt treat him.

It is amazing to me how Christmas 2021 turned on a dime us, as well as so many others. My family (parent, siblings, their spouses and kids included) made it through almost 2 years without anyone testing positive. We vaxxed, followed protocol, etc. We skipped Xmas and all the birthdays last year. This year we celebrated Thanksgiving and started planning for Xmas until my sister and niece tested positive last Monday. And that was that for our family Xmas. I am thankful everyone is still ok for the most part but this just kind of threw me for a loop. I thought we were making strides but it felt like a 2020 rewind. Keeping my fingers crossed for next year. Third time is the charm right?

Does anyone have to cheese to share with my whine? <3 Or whiines that they want to share? And thanks for listening girls. I've been avoiding the happy Christmas threads if that tells you anything. It was me who didn't want to be around people. I am at a loss of how to keep my special needs son happy and figure out these medical issues that keep coming up. He has been so damn cranky for the last two months. Med changes, doctor's appointments, and all of the other calm down methods. Nothing is working.
I even tried harder this year. Listening to music early, decorations up early, decorations outside, watching way more Christmas movies than usual to help me be okay rather than dread the holiday season. I don't want to be a Grinch, I'm just so damn tired.

I have family outside Seattle and I think it has been snowing almost all day. 2 inches is enough to shut down Seattle though. Portland and Seattle just are not equipped to handle snow.

Being a caregiver under the best circumstances is tiring. I hope you get your son’s medical issues worked out and get some rest.

It may as well be 4 feet. We don’t have many plows and hills everywhere. Our snow is usually very wet too, and generally it warms up in a day or two and melts, but it’s not expected to get above freezing until Thursday so we’re going to be stuck in this for a while. It’s 20 degrees right now and going to be 14 at 8am tomorrow. I feel very whiny right now but it’s too cold.

So disappointing for MichyM to have them so close but still so far away! I like the idea someone offered of making up for it with Christmas in July. Nice to hear Dave is doing better, littlemama. Hope that continues.
