I was reading about slide holders in another thread and it reminded me.
I hardly ever use any kind of frames when scrapping. I have a bunch because they came in kits or they were part of a die pack but I never use them for some reason. I can think of a way to use them but for some reason I just never think to pull them out. I think my problem is that I keep thinking of it to frame photos and I think I need to back them with cardstock and use them as a layer. For awhile those frames were all the rage.
I never use epoxy because it yellows and looks awful. So I can't use those really cute wooden buttons that have epoxy centers. American Crafts used to make a lot of those. I mentioned on another thread that I just don't understand scrapbook companies still making epoxy stuff. I'm looking at you, Doodlebug.
I never use rubber because it gets slimy over time. I am also highly suspicious of flair. I am also suspicious of rub-ons, although I have used them on occasion.
For a long time I never used wood because I was trying to be archival. Then I realized I didn't care if my stuff lasted 100 years because my nephews are going to probably throw it out anyway= who has room for all of those scrapbooks? Also, we have digital photos. I use wood all of the time now. I don't think scrapbook manufacturers use a lot of wood anymore but for a long time there was a ton of wood and I have a huge stash. It is one of my go-to embellishments.
Embellishments that I use constantly? Diecuts, stickers, doilies, tags, enamel dots and shapes, acrylic shapes and words, metal charms (I buy bags of cute ones from Amazon), the already mentioned wood shapes, sequins, gems, and pearls.
What embellishments do you never use use? What embellishments are your favorites?

I won’t say I NEVER use wood, but only very rarely. I’m super picky about it. It can’t be too rough/splintery looking. It absolutely canNOT have burnt edges. I seem to always get stuck with burnt ones. If it’s a really clean & smooth piece of wood, then I might use it.
I love diecuts. Most stickers (not clear ones). Love puffy stickers. Love labels. I’m having a renewed love affair with washi.
I like enamel dots, but usually forget about them.
I love frames, but don’t use them as often as I should. I think opaque ones are easier to work with than the see-through variety.

I struggle with embellishments to be honest.
I use stickers, die cuts, nuvo drops, enamel dots, brads/eyelets mostly
lumpy stuff - no, not really
washi? rarely...99% of my washi use is on envelopes or in die cutting (holding in place)

I rarely use pearls/rhinestones, Stickles/Nuvo drops or ribbon. These are in the "card making only" column in my brain so I never think to use them when doing any other crafting, which is the majority of the time. Not in my "card making only" column but still never used are wood die cut pieces. I've downsized my supply but still have some basic shapes and words left. Maybe 2022 will be the year they finally get purged!
I never use embossing folders. I've never been very impressed with what they do, so I've whittled down my stash to only a couple designs that I haven't used in years. Earlier this year I saw a YT video showing how to use them with distress oxide ink applied via brayer and just like that, I'm in love! I haven't actually tried it out myself, but it's on my list of techniques to try in 2022. I acquired more embossing folders from a family friend over the summer, so I have a lot to play with once I finally give it a go.
I don't use my sewing machine very often, but I really want to! I'm in the middle of a craft room re-org in an effort to have the sewing machine on the ready 24/7. It's really NOT that big of an effort to get it out now, but it's enough that I rarely do. I find that I save up the projects I want to sew on, then when I pull out the sewing machine I'm using it on multiple things I've been saving waiting for a "sewing day". I want to get out of that habit, because then I will use it a lot more projects instead of the ones I'm okay waiting on until the next "sewing day"!
ETA: My favorites are enamel dots, spray mists/ink, stickers/die cuts, bakers twine and alpha/word thickers.

Depending on the sizes of frames, Id use them for shakers on cards.
I dont use a lot of metal, flair, wood, etc. I also dont use stickers (unless they are letters with a clear background).

I don't use mixed media. I have a couple of glitter sprays but that's it. Not even splatters to finish off a layout. I'm just not into adding all those supplies to my small space or the messiness of mixed media or the waiting to dry. I sometimes like to see others use it but that's as far as it goes. I also don't use rubber, epoxy, rub ons, ribbon, fabric, puffy stickers, buttons, stamps, embossing folders, transparencies, or heavier metal embellishments.
My favorites are die cuts, chipboard, stickers, doilies, sewing with my machine, photo corners, crochet thread, DIY thickers and other die cuts made with my Silhouette. I like to cut flowers, leaves, and titles most often with it.
I rarely use washi, enamel dots, or wood veneer. I have them and like them but don't use them often.

I love tags. I have never met a tag I don't like. I also like washi, flowers, (paper prima-type) lots of stamping, enamel dots and stickles.
I don't care for wood, or other stuff that is lumpy. I ruined some pages this way where lumpy stuff pushed into the photos on the other page.

What embellishments do you never use? Most of them - epoxy, rubber, metal, wood, cork, acrylic, flair, brads, eyelets, dollies, fabric, ribbon/fibers, washi, bling, Nuvo/Stickles, & many more!
What embellishments are your favorites? I prefer archival, flat, & versatile embellishments (e.g. labels, tags, stickers) & using tools, such as punches, dies, stamps, stencils, inks, embossing folders, etc.

I tend to avoid hard embellishments because they dent the photos & layouts on the opposite side.
I avoid rubber because of the slimy deterioration.
I avoid cork because it crumbles.
I avoid metal because it rusts.
I love die cuts, enamel dots, stickers, any papers I can layer. I use pop dots any time I want to make a flat embellishment dimensional.

Ugh, I had to re-do pages with rubber embellishments that got slimy. Never again. I also don't use epoxy. I used to love flair, but find it too thick now.
I should make it my mission to try to mix up more types of embellishments. I forget about frames, wood veneer, Stickles, mixed media stuff that I do have.

I never use flair or puffy stickers. Rarely do I use wood veneer, those frames (I only bought one package, thankfully). I seldom use brads, the plain ones or the ones that came with collections, despite them having been a favorite embellishment of mine for years. I think I forget about them, or use enamel dots which are easier. I also seldom use washi on layouts (but use it in cards frequently, and on the outside of the envelope-glued down-everytime). This is a shame because I have an extensive washi collection, ha!
I frequently use embellishments that coordinate with a collection-stickers, chipboard, die cuts. I also love to work in the little cutapart labels from Elle's Studio. Also, every layout gets a sprinkling of enamel dots, thankfully I have a rainbow of the knockoff ones!!
When my space moves in a few weeks (so excited!!!!) and I have a new scrap island, I think I may choose a "supply of the month" to leave on my island, to remind me to work it into my projects (ie those designer brads, washi, wood veneer, stickles).
Embellishing is my absolute favorite part of the process, so this is a fun read!
