Mine is near the back of the house and while doing the dishes you can look at the backyard. Which is helpful when the kids are playing outside to be able to keep an eye on them.

My preference is to have my living room have the larger windows looking out to whatever is the "nicer" view. We built this house and our last. In the last house, kitchen was in the front with a small alcove for a table with windows that looked out to a street view. My kitchen sink was actually positioned with my back to the kitchen window so I faced a big opening that looked out over the dining/living room and the big backyard living room windows (if that makes sense ). View from the living room was just yard/woods and no houses. We made sure that kitchen wasn't completely open since it was in the front of the house. In our current house, we have woods all around and no houses we can see in any direction, so the kitchen is in the back of the house, which is my preference. In reality, I felt like I need to keep the kitchen in front "cleaner" but our current kitchen in the back is much more the hub of our house, so not like I can hide much anyway.

Technically, mine is now in the front/side, although we use it to access the back yard, LOL! When first built, the kitchen ran from the front porch to the back porch, along one side of the house, but there have been additions put on since that now have a hall, bathroom, and mudroom/laundry between the kitchen and the back yard. However, you access the back yard through that mudroom, which is really only a few steps from the kitchen. So I think of our kitchen as being "in the back"of the house, even though it's technically not. If I'm working in the kitchen, I can easily look down the short hall to the back door in the mudroom. And I like that because people who know us always use that back door when they stop by. My absolute ideal is a kitchen that is truly in the back of the house, with a window that overlooks the backyard. Oddly enough I've only actually had that set up in any place I have lived for about 7 years of my life! If I were to build a house, I would like a kitchen in the back corner of the house, with a mudroom coming off the side of the kitchen, so that the mudroom was also in the rear of the house. But I prefer old homes to new construction, PLUS too many choices pretty much paralyze me, so I highly, highly doubt that I would ever build a house. I will say, that a kitchen that runs from the front to the actual back would be pretty great, because I do love sitting at the kitchen table and looking out through the front porch to the road in the morning. I just miss being able to look out into the back yard from the kitchen. (Even though I haven't had that in 30+ years. )

ours is in the middle of the house - you go in the front door to the foyer (with stairs to the first floor) - left is the dining room, right is the craft room (living room space), straight is the living room (family room space). Turning to the left out of the living room is the breakfast nook and the kitchen is between that and the dining room. Our ground floor isn't open plan but is circular.
I like that it's not easily visible from more public rooms but with the breakfast nook - there is space for non-cooks to hang out and chat. More importantly - it has a good work triangle and plenty of storage. The downside - no window over the sink (it's on a shared wall with the garage) and the stove is on an interior wall which required a downdraft stove

I’m traditional and like my “formal areas at the front if the house. That said, my kitchen is now exposed after our remodel. My house is not huge and my options were limited. We opted for more kitchen space since that’s where we live. My house is a square with a vestibule (winter lifesaver). Once you walk in the stairs are directly in front of you. To the right is our living room which runs the length of the house, so 22’x12’. To the left is the same size space that is dining room in the front, kitchen at the back. They used to be separate rooms but we removed the wall between so we could add a big island for more storage and counter space. The thing I don’t like about the big space is that noise carries not being blocked by the wall. The back door and stairs to the basement are under the stairs going up. It’s a very efficient design.

My kitchen is in the back open concept with family room. If I ever get another house, I will never have open concept with the kitchen. Kitchen for me needs to contain the smells, dishwasher sounds, dishes, countertops, all of it just needs to be separate. I hate it being part of the main gathering area.
I have had homes where the kitchen is in the front. If it is a separate room it was OK but if you are cooking it is the first thing you smell entering the house. I think being able to enter from the garage and drop your shopping on the counter works best.

In the back middle (between the dining room and the family room.)
Our last house it was in the front and I hated it, although it was convenient when unloading groceries and taking out the trash because it was less than 10 steps from my driveway...

Our kitchen is the back of the house and has a door out onto our deck. We have a walk out basement so the kitchen is on the second floor and the deck is 1 storey up. The BBQ is on that deck. If your kitchen was at the front of the house where would your BBQ be? Or outdoor dining? Would you have to carry food through the house to get to a deck or patio in the yard?

My kitchen is in the front which is our best view. I can see the mountain when I am washing dishes. Kitchen is right next to the garage. I do wish I'd put in a mud room, not so much for mud but for all the junk that seems to end up on the kitchen counters rather than going further into the house where it belongs.

Our front door opens into a tiny entry hall. To the right is our lounge (where we hang out most of the time and that's where the tv is) if you go straight you go into the living room (where all of our books and games are but no tv) if you go to the left is the kitchen/dining area. The kitchen looks out into the front. I like having both rooms where I spend the most time be on the front of the house.

Back center of house. Location doesn’t really bother me other than how it integrates with the layout choices made when the house was built.
My main complaint is the stove “feature wall” means it is is 10 feet across from the sink, right in the traffic pattern. Horrible with small children and pets when you are trying to use the oven door or carry boiling hot pasta.
And the amount of openings limits useful cabinet space - you can access it from the garage, basement, front hall, dining room AND family room. Too many doors/openings!

Ours is in the back of the house with large windows facing lots and lots of trees. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen and to look out over the front yard would not be nearly as pretty. Maybe think about your lot and where the best views for the rooms will be.

Toward the middle of an open floor plan
Walk in door, down the hall, stairs and living room on the right. Kitchen and dining room on the left.

That's the issue with our living room - there's an opening on every wall plus a fireplace and an a/c filter/air intake that can't be blocked - makes an already small living room super small

We bought, didn't have built, our home which is an open floor plan. Our kitchen is in the front by the door and it looks out over the front yard. I don't care for the the kitchen by the door, however, there are other things that bother me more. This was our first home and we didn't really expect to stay in it. We probably will, but we don't have people over so the kitchen really isn't an issue for our lifestyle.

We notice it when there are tubs for dh to take to the basement and he doesn't do it as soon as needed, so when he does we hear more noise since we get used to the buffer. No carpet makes it noisy. lol

I've lived in so many houses. A good kitchen location is convenient for unloading groceries, has a door to your patio where you grill and entertain, and is hidden from the view from the front door.

I wouldn't want my kitchen at the front of the house. Mine is at the back of the house together with an open plan dining area.

It's in the back, with the sink window overlooking the backyard. We sit on a hill, so the view of the neighborhood is really beautiful. It's actually what sold me on this house.

We have a center-entrance colonial. The kitchen is in the back. I like the big bay window where the table sits. It looks out into the backyard gardens and woods. It has a door to the basement that leads to the garage. Also next to a door to the porch and deck. It also opens into the family room and dining room, making it central to everything.

We have what is called a center hall Dutch colonial. If you go through the double front doors there is the formal living room on one side and the formal dining room on the other.
Then you can either go upstairs or down the hall to the back of the house which has the downstairs master/guest room and bathroom on one side and the den on the other.
The kitchen is on the far side of the den and dining room and it runs the width of the house (front to back) with the window over the sink looking out to the front and the large window in the eat in area looks out over the patio/backyard.
The kitchen has its own door to the outside (we have a smaller side porch off of the formal front porch) and has entry doors into both the den and dining room as well as the utility/laundry room on the other.

Mine is in the middle of the house. It is a galley kitchen (a rectangle with the path through the middle). At the front of kitchen is the dining room and its windows overlook the front yard. At the back of the kitchen is our breakfast area and those windows overlook the backyard.
When we first moved here, I missed the window, but no longer do that. The breakfast area has windows on 3 sides so I have lots to view there, and the kitchen is visible as well.
I don't think I would like a kitchen at the front of the house. My 2 SIL have that and I'd like guests to be inside the home before entering the kitchen. One SIL --even though she has a front entry, everyone enters through the side door (off the carport) and walk directly into the kitchen.

When you walk into my house you walk into one big area that is the living room, kitchen and dining room. I kind of hate that there aren't more defined spaces but whatever.
The house I grew up in we all used the kitchen's sliding glass door as the front door so I'm very accustomed to walking into a house and walking into a kitchen. My grandma's house was that way as well.

Ours is on the side!
Front door has a longer hall/entry, dining room is in the front large window, steps up/down on the other side of hallway, garage on other side of steps.
Enter into the living room from the hall, 8’ to kitchen, which is a diagonal line (15’ ) from the kitchen (a longish way to take food!! Lol)

I like having my kitchen away from the front, because I spend a lot of time in that area since it's adjacent to the family room and I like privacy.
