Welcome peas, to a new weekly spotlight on a Pea project! The intent is to highlight all the talent and variety of styles and projects on the board, recognize a deserving pea, and inspire our own creativity with challenges based on the project. I really hope Peas will SHARE their creations with us - I will head to the Flickr gallery every week to choose a project, but will also keep my eye on the boards if Peas share their projects in other ways. I'd like to stay "recent" in these projects, but make no guarantees that I won't dive deeper into our past. Please help me: if a Pea project catches YOUR eye and you think it deserves recognition, PM me and point me towards it! For our first week, I wanted to stay in the holiday spirit and find a Christmas project. And so I present "Merry December" by our own grammadee ! December page by Gramma Dee, on Flickr There is so much to love about this page. The colours/pps POP on the black background The title is so interesting with the shiny foil and mixture of outline/solid letters made in the same font The layers of paper and matting give such richness and depth! I plan to use this project as inspiration to creating this week. My challenges to myself are: 1. Use the Dec. 4 Sketch HERE 2. Use a black background on your card or layout 3. Create one more HOLIDAY project/card! 4. Create a title with a mixture of solid and outline letters*if you are on the challenge teams, completing any TWO of those challenges will fulfil this week's POTW challenge for 10 points!

Beautiful layoyut grammadee. I love all the parts that kitbop pointed out but the first thing that caught MY eye was that gorgeous photo with the holiday smiles!

I love this for all the reasons, but the large photo with the smaller accent photo really makes the page. Well done, love it grammadee!

Thanks for choosing this one, kitbop. And I can't wait to see what other people do with this sketch and your prompts. BTW, I too like the effect of the title letters mixed like that, but the reason they are mixed is that I was out of "E" letter stickers in that set, so I was "forced" to improvise by fussy cutting the outlines left on the sheet. To keep myself sane--or relatively so--I chopped out the squares around the outlines, then stuck them to glitter acetate and fussy cut the acetate.

I chopped out the squares around the outlines, then stuck them to glitter acetate and fussy cut the acetate. That's a fabulous tip! I have put mine on white cardstock before, but the cutting out is hard. The acetate is a brilliant solution as it doesn't matter if you are perfectly accurate.

I love this idea and this layout.
I have to admit I don't share much because I always forget the process for uploading and linking - I'm sure it's easy enough but that's just how lazy I am about it lol. I'll make it a 2022 resolution to be better.

I'll make it a 2022 resolution to be better. If you do decide to share and you need help, be sure to ask for tips from people who have found easy ways to do that. Would love to see your creations, but the main thing is for you to create and to enjoy it!

What a fun way to ring in the new year - a spotlight and challenge! Thank you for hosting, kitbop I love the mixed alpha on your layout as well as the black background used with the bright shades of red/green that come through from your photos, grammadee

What do they say about "necessity being the mother of invention"?! I've already done the sketch, so I think I'm going to choose two of the other prompts.

I love this idea, thanks for hosting kitbop. The first thing that caught my eye was that wonderful photo, and I love the tip about putting the alphas on acetate.

Such a great page, love the title work (and so smart to use acetate to help with the cutting!) but most of all kudos for getting your smiling selves together in the picture. It's so easy to miss the chance, or to decide it's too hard to take a photo, or decide the lighting won't be good enough so why bother...

I used the sketch and the black background - had to modify the sketch a little but hopefully it is still recognisable - still back in 2010 for photos

Oh Linda. I love the pop of red with the black background. And I like the larger images of your pages so I can see more detail.

I love the inspiration layout and chose this one because it has some similar elements and color scheme. I used holly sticker in lieu of pointsettias but I will be using pointsettias in an upcoming layout. They look fabulous on your layout grammadee
