Welcome to the 2022 Organized 2PeasRefugees scrap challenge. It does not matter where you are in your journey of organizing you are welcome to join us and do a little or do a lot! Find a system that works for you and your space. How do you scrap and shop your supplies? Is your space tiny or a whole room? Do you live with special considerations such as flooding or dust? There is not one way that is better than another, just what is best for your style and needs! Do you need to see your stash to use it? Or does it need to be protected from little hands, paws, or dust? This challenge is to encourage you to work towards a more organized crafting life, so that you can find what you purchased when you want to use it! My best rule of thumb is that it should not take more than three moves to get to what you want to use on your project. If you are on a team for the team challenges you can claim 10 points for each hour spent. The time does not need to be consecutive. Bonus of 1 point for each before and after photo. The following tasks will count towards the crafting organization: • Cleaning up after your latest crafting session (ie desk before, desk after) • Scrubbing or vacuuming the floor in your space. Dusting your space (I live in the desert next to a dirt road and own four German Shepherds so this is a regular task) • Organizing a supply or completely re-doing your entire space. • Sorting, editing, backing up, or ordering photos. • Setting up page kits for photos or organizing the ones that you get as a monthly subscription with photos. • Essentially anything that is related to crafting that needs to be done to “spark joy”! (I’m not necessary a huge Marie Kondo fan . . . but she does have some good ideas!) Scrapbook related Bonus: You will earn 20 points for each hour spent organizing stamping sentiments in a way that works for you. Personally I spent 20 minutes looking for an anniversary stamp . . . sooooooo, now I have to decided it I am going to break up sets, OR photo copy, OR make a spread sheet? We will see as I process what I own.
Non Scrapbook related Bonus, 20 point for each hour! As promised in December, many of us have Christmas or holiday decorations up. As you put things away consider what you can donate or discard. Good luck! I know I have several large totes to consider in my now very cold garage!

Oh I’m totally doing this! My scrap room is a disaster. I thought about taking every thing out today and organizing from the bottom but I wanted to scrapbook instead. I will designate a day for this soon!

Thank for the decorating clean up, I need this for Holiday Home put away. I put up sooooo much. I am going to come back an edit this particular post of mine with my time. January 1 - I spent three hours digging my in-completed kits from 2020 and 2021 and created myself a PDF with clickable links to the various tutorials so that when I have a bit of time to sit down and complete a kit (a goal for this month), I don't have to spend time looking for the link. Total 30 points for January 1 for Organizing

I spent part of the morning and most of the afternoon in our 45 degree garage with a little electric heater next to me . . . sorted and organized 6 LARGE totes of Christmas lights and decorations for about 4 hours, before Christmas did about an hour of sorting as I unpacked what I displayed this year. Threw away 8 sets of mini lights that had sections not working. Have a donate box going of items either for DSD or? So claiming 100 point for the NSBR sorting challenge today. I have 2 more totes to go, and then putting away. The putting away doesn't count. It sure feels good to know where everything is in the totes, all of them are now labelled in sharpie with 2022. The labels were out of date as things had moved around the last 17 years!
Oh, why do I have so many mini lights? When I was a single home owner I loved decorating the outside of my home with lights for the neighborhood to enjoy. Everything was on timers so the lights were on when I left for work in the morning and when I came home in the evening. So worth it. It was a time in my life where putting up a tree and the other trimmings seemed to be a waste of time, as I was the only one in the house. But outdoor lights? everyone could enjoy them!

My entire scraproom is a total total disaster.......I have to confess that I have not had time to get into it enough the last year to do anything productive.......family life took over. I am back and my goal is to actually KNOW what's in there and to ORGANIZE it to the point that I can just go into it anytime and actually sit down and create something. It's a hot hot burning mess, lol! :/ I am so unorganized in there, and our master bedroom, they are my 2 hottest spots in the entire house. Going to start today, sorting/decluttering/organizing in each room......scraproom is getting it done this week, or bust!

I save so many project ideas and then never go back to them - when I start a new project I just search the web all over again. I hope to be this organized going forward! My craft room is still a mess from Crop n Create in October. I went straight into my Christmas cards and other projects and just piled mess upon mess. Then I got a bunch of new craft things for Christmas. So, I have a lot to do this month, but I haven't started yet.

I just had to do an inventory count for my crafty business so now I'm thinking about how to refine my organizing to make it easier for next time (just like every year!) It wasn't too bad. I don't think there was anything I couldn't find within a few minutes, but there's always room for improvement.
I especially need to figure out better ways to sort and store cards and elements that are "works in progress." In an ideal world I'd just finish everything before the end of the year, but I think we all know that's not going to happen! I try to keep things in clear envelopes stored standing up in a small box so they're easy to flip through and I have a limit on how many I can accumulate.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to stick with things instead of jumping around as the creative energy ebbs and flows? lol. I guess my word for the year should be FINISH.

Good luck! I know I have several large totes to consider in my now very cold garage! Do I have to GIVE them away to earn the 20 points/hour? Or just PUT them away? Spent the morning bringing the higher ornaments down to table height, collecting them into the groups they will be tubbed with, and getting some order in the corner of the basement where they will be stowed until next November. Hope that the tree will come down tomorrow morning and all of the other Christmas pretties will be heading downstairs. Today dsil and dgs are headed this way. This afternoon they plan to make a run to the garbage dump/transfer station with a couple of truckloads of stuff from the basement that partially flooded with sewer back-up just before Christmas. (Transfer station was closed during the holiday break). Tomorrow's plan is to stow away everything Christmas.

I am more successful at actually USING things if they are standing up and can be flipped through to see what I have.
Do you have any of those drawer units from M's that has drawer dividers? So you could stand up card element in each little block, or each project in progress in ziploc bags standing up and easily accessed when you open the drawer?
I have some CTMH containers that are divided. I use one for PL cards--again, sorted into different sections--and one for card making stamp sets. I also have a "sticker stadium" I ordered from Paper Wishes years ago that I use for projects in progress. It has a space for the larger papers. After I am done scrapping Christmas, I will empty that out and put the smaller bits and pieces to join their friends in a divided box from Costco tree ornaments. The box fits on a shelf in the cupboard where I store Christmas.

I got Christmas packed up today and actually organised - tossed some packaging/boxes. DIdn't go through to donate though - I did pull some stuff out when I pulled OUT the stuff in December and I tossed a bunch of non-working lights then too.
I still need to pack up Advent (Nativities and other stuff that comes out earlier than Christmas stuff) and the outdoor stuff but....progress is made.

I spent all day so far packing up Christmas. DH and DS took down the garland/lights we put up everywhere and pulled all the hooks. DS unloaded the family tree and I packed up the ornaments. He packed up the tree. I am trying to get things into boxes where like is with like, not just where it fits! All I have left is the Creche for the large fireplace mantle Nativity, and my Angel Tree. Whew! I worked 3 days this week so that took up my put away Christmas leisurely time!

well done angel97701 - it's a lot of work, isn't it? I've gotten almost all of the Advent stuff packed up - just waiting for some kitchen linens to finish up in the laundry. Tomorrow I'll take down the outdoor stuff (except the lights - those are DH's domain)

01/12/22 - Worked an hour at lunch to dig out boxes to bring into the house for more decor boxing, then spent two hours while watching Emma Kenny True Crime YouTube, and Inky Stamper Crafty YouTube boxing stuff up. Hoping I can finish this Saturday. It was pretty, but I need to get back to clutter free.

So it's about decluttering what you have . . . if some of it is donated, or discarded great. If boxes are sorted differently (like in my case) then those points count. But just putting them away doesn't count unless you purposefully used a new storage system, organized them in in a new way. Etc. Does that make sense. I counted the 4 hours going through boxes that I've not really used in more than 12 years, and throwing away strings of lights etc on Jan 3. But I'm not counting the time that it took to put away the rest of Christmas as the decorations went back into the already designated boxes and finally got put away. Does that make sense? Linda grammadee MARIBETHRPacking up the Fisher Price Nativity that I am going to send to friends with little ones I'm not counting that 5 minutes either . . .

I am so bad at not finishing things. I swear I have crafty ADD! I'm not like this in any other area of my life, just this one. I have no magical solution to offer, just camaraderie.

Thanks angel97701 - ok - so my stuff was an unholy mess when I pulled it out of the cupboard before Christmas and now it's neat and tidy in labelled boxes with the Christmas stuff at the back of the cupboard and the Advent stuff at the front (so NEXT year I don't have to pull everything out to find Advent). I did purge some stuff while pulling out and putting away - some lights, some broken stuff, some things I just didn't need anymore - but mostly I organised. I think I'll claim 4 hours of the time and call it good.

Linda grammadee MARIBETHR Packing up the Fisher Price Nativity that I am going to send to friends with little ones I'm not counting that 5 minutes either . . . Oh yes, I went and purchased all new boxes from the U-Haul store. The individual decorations are primarily going in the boxes that they came in as those are specifically sized and for the product with inserts etc. When putting the items in the new boxes I am not generally labeling as I have done in the past but I am listing each item that is in the box as I have found that some years I only want specific items and I will know right where to get them. I am also creating a grid of my storage shed so I know which box is where. I will remove the points for carting the boxes from the shed to re-box the individual items and I will be sure not to count the hours of taking down the trees as they will all go back into there original boxes and will only be added to the location grid. And, I am discarding many items along the way as well. Adjusted points by a negative 2 hours that I spent taking boxes from shed on my lunch hour so I will minus 40 points.

counting three hours for organising in the scraproom.
Put the photo prints (last two orders) in page protectors in the right albums
placed another small photo order
DH built me another 2x4 Kallax and put it in place so I moved the stuff that was in that spot and filled the kallax
Went through two magazine holders that were holding various things - sticker sheets, cards, photos, memorabilia - and put them all away and added the magazine holders to the donation bin.
