I’m just getting back into scrapbooking and before I frustrate myself wanted to hear feedback from Apple users about any problems they have using their Silhouette. When I was last scrapbooking there were some issues, and there was always the rumor that it was going to be fixed with the next round of upgrades. I’m going to have to watch some Silhouette school videos to relearn stuff, but are there any glitches that I should be aware of so I don’t spend hours trying to sort out an user error problem when it’s a hardware/software issue. 😄
I have a MacBook Air with the latest software/updates. I’m also curious if it’s possible to use an iPad Pro with the software? I think the only way you could back when was if you linked it to a desktop somehow, but I might be misremembering. I’m in Canada in case that matters - I know some apps aren’t offered outside the US. If you have any recommendations on Apple specific Silhousette blogs/videos, please share those too.
Took a quick look through the boards and didn’t find a post about this but still getting my bearings so thanks for letting me be that kid in the class LOL ☺️

I have used multiple MacBooks with my Silhouette and have never had an issue. My current MacBook's OS is Big Sur if that helps.

My equipment is old -- 2013 desktop running Cataline and a Silhouette Cameo 2 (with CB09 blade) -- everything is GREAT and I have no intention of messing with it! I'm not a MAC expert - but I understand nothing will work from in iPad.

I never had any issues with the silhouette studio software on my Mac. I also have an iPad Pro and not aware that there are any options, although my Silhouette is probably close to 10 years old by now so may be too old for an iPad option anyway. It's been too long for me to suggest any apple/silhouette resources, although when I was watching them early on, seems like Apple Mac and MacBooks were most commonly used and I also don't recall hearing of any major or common glitches.
Good luck!

I’ve used multiple MacBooks with no issues on my Cameo.

I’ve not had issues until I upgraded to Monterey on my iMac. I can no longer connect via Bluetooth. It still works perfectly with the USB cable. It is a known issue, and I’m currently waiting for something to be fixed - either by Silhouette America or Apple. This newest OS has caused an issue with QuickTime not recording after 10 minutes, 55 seconds which is why I’m not sure if the Bluetooth problem is a Mac thing or a Cameo thing.

I have the second version of the Cameo and it works well with my 2013 late spring Mac. I do have an issue with speed and crashes if I have both the Silhouette software and photos open. I think it’s just too much memory and I use one or the other now and haven’t had a problem.
Every now and then there’s an issue with an upgrade of the iOS or the Silhouette software, but it’s generally resolved in a week or so. If I have a big project, I’ll delay upgrading until it’s done. I also keep the previous version of Silhouette software, just in case there’s an issue, especially since my Mac is getting older.
