I watched the first episode of this (it was a long episode). I liked it, I like the actors, the characters and the set-up so far. But I am a bit worried it will be a bit... serious for me. If you know what I mean. The first episode is obviously setting up the characters and basic info, but is it an entertaining show you enjoy watching, or does it have long stretched of being very serious. I need a little bit of humor and action to keep me entertained.
If it was all based on Kevin Costner's character, I would not watch it. He is a very serious man, and so far all about the business. But his kids are more interesting. I have been a fan of the actress playing Beth since she was doing British crime-shows, so that's a plus.
I guess what I'm basically asking; is this a 'fun' drama show, or a 'serious' drama show?

We tried to like it. Watched at least five episodes I think? I just didn’t enjoy it. Too dark. I know I’m in the minority. Ranch and cowboy stuff is right up my alley, usually 😜

A few friends recommended it, as I vacation every summer at a dude ranch and love all things western, but so far I’m still not engaged in the series.

DH has watched it from the beginning. I'd catch bits and pieces here and there with him but wasn't invested. I started watching this season with him and I'm liking it. I want to go back and watch it from the beginning. A lot of my friends watch it and Sunday nights are spent posting their reactions on Facebook.

I watched part of the first episode last week and thought it was pretty boring. I’ll probably finish it at some point and evaluate from there, but we will see.

DH likes it, I only catch parts of episodes so I’m always kind of lost when it comes to following the storylines. I don’t hate it, but IMO it isn’t a lighthearted “fun” show at all.

I've watched it. It's good. The characters get better as time goes on. And Beth. . . what can I say. Just keep watching.

I love it. But yes, it isn't a light hearted show. If you want another ranch type there is always The Ranch, which is on Hulu if I remember right. Or there is always Heartland. Have watched both of those as well and really enjoyed them.

I tried it. Everyone I know loves it. I tried. I had to force myself through the 1st episode.

I enjoyed it the first three seasons. Its super violent though and I don't like the way they write the woman's roles.
Beth was fun at first, now she just makes me uncomfortable. They've turned her character into a caricature of Marjorie Taylor Green. I no longer can stand her and the show feels Maga-ish to me. I'm out.

It's a great show, but the plot holes are big enough to drive a ranch truck through. This season has been a long commercial for the spin off shows.

I think we started to watch it when it first came out and fizzled. We picked it up during a marathon showing and settled into it. It is not pretty. It is not light-hearted. There are a couple of cowboys that are very easy on the eyes. If you own a ranch, you will throw your arms up that THAT is not the way things are done, worn, etc. I don't own a ranch so I take it for what it is. There is language. However I raised a sailor and he learned his language from somewhere. There is death. There is also gorgeous scenery, horses, etc. oh yvonne, I don't get MTG vibes at all. AND I can't stand that woman!! I do think they have taken her character way past how any corporate woman would be. I was Beth all the way up to this season. There was a slight shift in her. Family dedication is a big thing in this show. And it goes real deep. I don't have a large ranch I am trying to keep together, I was not raised in any sort of dynasty or have lots of bills in the bank so I have no idea how real families in those situations are. They could be scrappy behind the scenes to get what they want. I'll stay with the show another season.

I love it, but the storylines are pretty ridiculous. Paradise Valley has a very high body count for such a small, remote place. You mean to tell me that nobody notices when that many people disappear? And also, if people from 3 states use the train station, how was no one blabbed about it this whole time? I watch enough First 48 to know that people always get caught because someone snitches.
But aside from all the violence, I really enjoy when the storyline goes to the bunkhouse. The scenes with Lloyd and Jimmy are just the sweetest. And Teeter is a hoot!
ETA: This show drives SO crazy. He grew up on a cattle ranch, and his father was a lifelong cattle rancher, and it makes him go nuts when they are herding cattle and there are like 10 cowboys to herd a 100 heads (that's a job for 1 or 2). Also, he is a very well-known fly fisherman, and he is constantly yelling at the tv when those scenes come up. I have to watch separately from him LOL

I wanted to like the show but couldn’t stand watching her.

I am really enjoying the series. Although I know nothing about ranching, cattle, or horses I'm taking it at face value. Yes, it's violent. The scenery is magnificent. Some of the characters are really unlikable. I believe when we really dislike a character, it's a testament to the actor's and writer's ability. They create and portray a characters that bring out these strong reactions.

I haven’t finished it but DH and I have been watching it. ( I have an illogical disdain for Kevin Costner ). I think I’m kind of hate watching it at this point. It’s kind of like a modern Dallas. I didn’t expect it to be so soapy. I love the scenery though.

Everyone keeps telling me to watch it because it's SOOOO GOOOD! I watched the first episode and it didn't do anything for me. Maybe I'll try again another time.

I wanted to see it. We got the correct service. I watched several - not a full season - and decided I didn't care for it. It just seemed stupidly unrealistic -- I just couldn't get to the necessary "suspension of disbelief".

DH loves this show. I’m just meh. But there aren’t a lot of shows we watch together, so I’ve gotten into it, but don’t love it. I prefer non-soap drama. I agree with everyone above about Beth. They’ve made her really unlikeable this season.

I love the show, although it took me a few episodes to really get into it. Yes, it's pretty dark. There's a lot of drama, some humor, and beautiful scenery. I love Beth! However, I can't get over the fact that Beth and Kayce always look like hot messes.

Dh and I have watched all of it. We both enjoy it.
The end of this season felt like they were wrapping up the show, but I’ve read that there will be another season. There really wasn’t a cliffhanger like the end of previous seasons. I’m really tired of Kayce’s storyline - it has jumped the shark for me and needs to go in another direction; it was so well-written in earlier seasons, but they have lost a lot of the dynamic character tension this year.
I watch Yellowstone simply as a soap opera, like Dynasty or Dallas of my college years. I don’t expect reality, so am okay with the inaccuracies.
We keep trying 1883, but are finding it really slow and don’t really like any of the characters so far.

We are enjoying the series, though I’m not sure why. I find every character in the show except for Monica and her grandfather to be abhorrent people. It really is gritty and kind of dark.

It's a serious drama show. Dh loves it. It's too serious and not enough happiness for me. It's all drama and arguing etc. Very few happy, light scenes. If I were part of that family I'd be depressed. They rarely show them having any fun etc. I do like Beth's character though.
It reminds me of Ozark in that way. Dh also loved that. Heck no.

We watched the first few episodes and were bored. THat was about a year ago. But I recorded them all this last week as they were on, so I'm going to give it another shot. I'm going to give it the first full season to decide. Normally, I like a dark show, but this was just 'eh' to me.
