Interestingly, your definitions are exactly what I understood from watching the show. I think that the two main barrel racers are also buckle bunnies--or at least one is--as she was attracted to Jimmy due to his riding, not because she knew him. No she would not be a buckle bunny. Bunnies do not participate in rodeo. But of course cowgirls like cowboys. Both of the girls are portrayed as soulless bitches. There are 3 women in the bunkhouse. I’m assuming you’re just referring to the barrel racers. Have you watched how much Mia did for Jimmy throughout his grueling rehab? If that is your definition of a soulless bitch, you and I have *very* different definitions. I’m guessing you haven’t watched the last season? The Four Sixes ranch where they send Jimmy after he rehabs is a real working horse and cattle ranch. It sounds like some of their personnel have had input into the shows shot there this season. I also really have enjoyed the change this season to have cutting horse footage (both in the show ring and in the ranch paddock) appear in almost every episode. Those horses are amazing to watch - it is like ballet. Maybe you’d like this season better, maybe not. Again, for me, this is a soap opera like Dynasty or Dallas with characters and storylines that are meant to be more dramatic/entertaining than realistic.

That's interesting, I didn't know that was a real ranch. I remember back when Yellowstone came out I read an article about how all of the actors had to take riding lessons and that there were a ton of people hired to ensure what they were showing was authentic to how a ranch would run. So I'm surprised to hear everyone say that they got it wrong.

I have watched every episode. Yes she took care of him ,but to me, she was the reason he was in the hospital. I don't like the way she is portrayed because my daughter is a barrelracer. Of course I know about the 4 6's ranch. The collection of sperm, DD has done that. My name is rodeomom for a reason. Like I said I have a love/hate for the show.

I’m sorry for my poor assumptions. 😕 Please accept my apology. I simply never saw Mia as a bitch this season, quite the opposite, so thought that maybe you stopped watching because you were so frustrated with the show. Even if Jimmy got on that horse to impress her, she easily could have walked away. Many unmarried people would have, rather than put in all the work she did with Jimmy. While that said something to me about her character, it apparently didn’t have the same meaning for you. I’m sorry that I thought my interpretation would be somewhat universal, and therefore that you didn’t watch it.

I'm sure I'm a little sensitive about the portrayal of the rodeo people.

So I started watching yesterday thanks to this thread. lol I am on episode 5 and will probably finish season 1 tonight. I AM LOVING IT! It reminds me of Sons of Anarchy in a way. That was a heavy show too. Only instead of bikers, we have ranchers here. But its still similar in that we have a big, dysfunctional family, murder, insider deals, secrets, etc. I am also loving Beth's character. What a totally ruthless bitch. lol

I've watched most of SoA, and I really like it even though it's a bit dark. But Yellowstone doesn't have Jaxon Teller in it 😂 I've been a Charlie Hunnam fan since his Queer As Folk days 🥰

I watch it but have to be in a dark mood. It's not a happy go lucky type show so I save it for my bad/angry mood days.
I have been watching 1883 which is the prequel to Yellowstone. I think I like it better than Yellowstone but it's only 3 episodes so far.

The four Sixes ranch was sold to one of the producers or writers of the show Taylor Sheridan bought it. He created Yellowstone. He's written, acted, produced, and directed it.

And for the SoA reference, Taylor Sheridan was in that also. I can't remember if someone mentioned it upthread or not but he was the sheriff in SoA.

I'm a huge fan of Yellowstone and am already looking forward to season 5. I've never been a big fan of Kevin Costner, but I've got to say that he is amazing in his role as John Dutton. All the actors portray their characters so well and it makes it easy to either love them or hate them. The scenery is beautiful and a trip to Montana is now on my bucket list. this is what i think, word for word especially the Kevin Costner part. i warmed up to him because he plays a good patriarch for the family. the actors play the characters well but i'm afraid that at some point, they will become caricatures of their characters. beth will get super bitchy, jamie will get more sniveling, and kayce will get more wish washy about what he wants for himself. i follow the FB yellowstone group and the tides are slowly turning on beth. people loved her at first but now they think she is getting too bitchy for no reason. i heard the series will end with season 6 so i hope the series maintains good writing up until the end. this season was good but valuable show time eaten up pushing 1883, Mayor of Kingtown, and hinting at the 6666 series.

I’ve watched it, primarily because the first three seasons were (mostly) filmed where I live. Like, seriously close… I drive past the Beck Brothers’ house to get home, and Rip’s cabin is just few miles further up the canyon from me. Pretty much every outdoor scene on “the ranch” was filmed within 5-10 minutes of my house, and yes, it’s as gorgeous as it looks.
I was actually booked to be an extra, but they canceled my scene the night before. I’m pretty sure I was gonna be discovered and get famous, y’all. 😜
