I agree, this was a good episode! I feel like I want to rewatch it so I can focus more on who's there, who's not, etc.

I'm in the minority because I hated the back and forth in time. There was way too much of it. By the middle, I just wanted them to be divorced and never in the same room again. If you are neither one getting anything from your therapist, would you really go to the same person for over a year?
It did answer one thing, with Kate and Toby together in the future when Jack is grown, she is obviously okay when Rebecca passes.
I watched online so I didn't see the preview for next week. Per TV Guide, the title of next week's episode is "The Day of the Wedding" so I assume something big happens at Kate and Philip's wedding. To me it looks like Kevin is going to reunite with Sophie because there was no other reason for her to be at Kate's engagement party. I was hoping for him and Madison but that isn't to be.

Isn't Sophie with her husband at Kate's engagement party? Not that I guess that means she doesn't end up with Kevin
Madison definitely marries Elijah and has another child with him so that's out. I'm hoping Kevin ends up with someone different
Remind me again, why are we so convinced Kevin is with anyone?

I liked the back and forth. I wanted more snippets! Phillip’s story was heartbreaking. I wa happy to see that Kate and Tony were happy apart.
Little Jack is so stinkin adorable!

I was so mad at the beginning of the episode when Toby called Kate in her wedding day, but I felt a lot better about it in the end. It makes sense why he’s there the night Rebecca passes. I’m worried about Miguel, I wonder if in all of the stress of Rebecca’s diagnosis if he’s now dealing with something health wise and trying to keep it under wraps.
Phillips story about his former wife was heartbreaking.

I loved this episode. They did a great job of portraying a marriage that just fell apart.
Toby and Kate are much better as friends rather than husband and wife.
I can't wait to see next week's episode.

I get why people are calling the green egg a red herring, because it didn't really have anything directly to do with Jack's scar or Kate & Toby's split. But... wasn't there a scene in that episode where Toby was holding Jack over the grill and smelling the meat? Smell can be a powerful memory trigger and that was a traumatic day all around for Jack. (his parents fighting, his solo walk, fall/injury, hospital visit) So he may just associate that smell (and thus the green egg) with the beginning of the end of his parent's marriage - which could account for his wife/girlfriend's comment in the flash forward. Or maybe I'm just reading too much into it! That’s exactly how I look at it as well. We (the viewers) were just expecting a more dramatic scene but to Jack that smell from the green egg brings him right back to that day.

To me it looks like Kevin is going to reunite with Sophie because there was no other reason for her to be at Kate's engagement party. I think it was a red herring for those of us on Team Sophie. I was so excited to see her name in the beginning credits only to be sad when she was with her husband. I loved the episode. Loved the elevator scene! Glad that Toby called Kate to say he *got* it. Loved the scene where he met his future wife.

I went back and watched the previews when Miguel said to Randall *It's moving fast now.* Then Randall says, *what's moving fast?* And Miguel replies *All of it! All of it!*

I’m glad they did the elevator scene. It made my heart feel a little lighter. I still think they could have made it though. Kate’s dress is GORG at her wedding. Wow. It was a lot to take in. I need to rewatch this one!

Last night's episode brought back the tears. From Rebecca thinking Kevin is Jack to Randall's speech to Rebecca singing at the end.
Randall's speech really got me about how fast everything goes. Right at the end of his speech I hear my ds laughing hysterically upstairs while he is playing xbox with his friends. So my tears from the show transferred to my real life, realizing in a few short months when he goes off to college, I won't be hearing that laughter regularly anymore. He is my youngest.
Now back to the show. I loved the Madison/Beth team up to sleuth about Kevin's night. If it ends up being the wedding singer, I'm going to be pi$$ed. All these years and they bring some random character in at the end. Nope!
I feel so bad for Miguel. He is trying so hard. It was good to see him let off some steam and say what he needed.
And where were Deja, Tess and Annie?

I agree with your assessment. When I first started crying, I paused it to see how far along I was - 10 minutes ! And many more tears throughout. Rebecca singing, so perfect. No, not a random person in the end of the series for my Kevin. I am on team Sophie. Maybe, hopefully, they are throwing us a curve ball and he and Sophie will get back together at the very end. I really, really enjoyed last nights show.

Many tears here too. Is that the song that she sung them as kids? Has anyone ever heard this song before because I was thinking it was one from Mandy Moore's new album. And it was kind of depressing for a wedding but it was still a tearjerker
I didn't realize until the end that the wedding singer was Katie Lowes from Scandal. I'm hoping she's not the one Kevin ends up with. Clearly Sophie is the love of his life
If the twins are 5 I guess we've had a time jump so far of 3 years or so? And Rebecca's illness has now progressed to her not remembering Jack has died but still mostly knowing who everyone is. I'm not that familiar with the stages of Alzheimers so don't know what is normal or not. I felt so badly for Miguel in this episode. I thought we were going to get an episode of Miguel's story?

There was a small section of Rebecca's song that, to me, sounded like the theme music for the show.

There was a small section of Rebecca's song that, to me, sounded like the theme music for the show. It was the theme music. I saw a tweet after the show that said they wrote the lyrics to the theme music specifically for this episode. So we have never heard it before which I found a little strange since they said she sang it to them when they were growing up. You think they would have done a flashback of her singing it when the big 3 were little and intertwined it with her singing it now.

There was a small section of Rebecca's song that, to me, sounded like the theme music for the show. That's exactly what it was. Mandy's husband, Taylor, and another musician created the lyrics. You can see the information on Mandy's Instagram page.

I loved this episode! My heart broke for Miguel when he told Randall why he wanted to do the wine tasting with him. That poor man is carrying all the weight of Rebecca's illness. Just let him taste the damn wines!
I also was a big fan of Beth and Madison going all "Agatha Christie" trying to figure out who they think Kevin slept with. My prediction...no one. I bet the "poem" written on the napkin was the wedding singer's attempt at song writing and she cornered him in the bar and wants Kevin to use his influence to help her break into the business.
I think Cassidy's clothing being in Kevin's room has an explanation; she needed to change for some reason. I don't think they would sleep together after the episode of Cassidy's car crash and the scene where she says "your broken-ness is not my broken-ness" or something like that. I think they have settled into a close and respectful friendship working together.
And I think Kevin had a deep heart to heart talk with Sophie who did not cheat on her husband. If Kevin had slept with Sophie, he would have been all happy and bouncy on the day of the wedding. He is not. He is obviously struggling.
Can they just please release all of the rest of the episodes! The waiting is agony. Such great episodes this season.

I thought I heard part of the theme of the show in it, the parts I heard. I thought Kate's dress was amazing! I love the scenes with Beth and Madison trying to figure out who Kevin slept with! LOL

It just varies so much. We’ve seen just astonishing quick deterioration- less than 2 years from diagnosis to death. And just agonizing slow - over 10 years. Even then it’s not linear - there seemed to big changes than stability and than another big change.

I could have done without the flashbacks; they didn't add anything for me. Other than that it was great. I feel so bad for Miguel for so many reasons; the three have never given him the acceptance or gratitude he deserves. I too wondered where Annie, Deja and Tess were; that should have been addressed. Anyone else think that Beth and Madison's dresses were STUNNING?

Imagine how a 2nd husband would feel when his wife keeps talking about her first husband as though he was there? I knew this time would come when Rebecca would think Jack was still alive. Since 3 years have passed, I guess that Deja and Tess might be in college but it also seemed like this was summer. Yes, it should have been addressed. This was a hard episode to watch but important to the storyline.

I read this thread all the time, and I am sometimes surprised by those who don't like the episodes. I am an oddity I guess because I love them all. I find myself in tears every week. This week's episode was so good, IMO. I thought the story line of Beth and Madison trying to figure out who Kevin slept with was so cute. LOL I don't know who I want him to end up with, to be honest.
This has been one of my favorite shows, and I hate to see it ending.

I thought Randall said the girls were there - something about his security detail? I just assumed there wasn't enough screen time for them to figure out whether to recast - especially the youngest daughter or age the actors when there wasn't really a story line for them.
Speaking of casting the 7? year old jack is the only casting in the entire run of the shoe that I thought was a miss. I assume it's exceedingly difficult to cast blind actors, but he just looked nothing like baby jack or grown up jack.

I love this show so much! A fun fact about this episode and the next one is they were filmed at a hotel very close to our house just a few weeks ago. I saw the big busses in the parking lot and was going to be nosy and go by there but I forgot.

I loved the episode except for the Kevin storyline. I am almost to the point of I don't care who he ends up with.
Rebecca singing the song was amazing!
Miguel's storyline was great. I am glad he put Randall in his place.
Kate's dress was stunning.
I like that Phillip's dynamic with the family is completely different.
I think the storyline with Randall's girls should have been addressed better. You can easily make them look older with clothes and make up, at least the 2 older ones.

I realize not everyone will love it like I do, but I am just puzzled at how strong the negative opinions are at times. But hey, no skin off my nose, and it's not like I need to convince anyone they are wrong LOL. Opinions vary, and I enjoy the discussions.
