Not sure what happened, but he says he is now fully vaccinated and we notice has started wearing an N95 mask (after wearing a thin cloth mask mostly below his nose for the last year).
Whatever it was, I'm glad. He is over 70 and though he is very healthy, he doesn't need to be getting Covid a second time or spreading it around.

Obviously something happened. I’m assuming he watched someone suffer with Covid. Sorry he probably lost someone but glad he is now vaccinated and taking precautions many don’t have a change of heart. I think it would be hard to work with an anti-vaxer. No one should have to watch a loved one suffer from Covid especially now that is mostly preventable.

that's good!
my friend who was the only hold out in her family finally got the vaccine only because her job wouldn't let her have any shifts without proof of vaxx. she wouldn't do it for her husband and kids, for her own health or the welfare of society. threaten to cut off her part-time job and she did it. hey, whatever it takes.

That is good news! For all of you who work with him, or and for him.
So many people never change their minds or reevaluate their thinking, so every case of someone who does should be a good thing.

Out of our staff of 20, we had one holdout. In November, the company said that return to work would require full vaccination and they anticipated a return to work in January. The lone holdout finally got his vaccine. But he definitely complained about it.

Read this and thought of you Merge Oh yeah, that's a big thing here. Everyone from the Houston mayor to local celebrities have called for him to resign. We'll see. That area has a lot of people who think just like him. (The district he doesn't want theirs to emulate is mine, BTW.)

It's also the district that had a bunch of kids from the senior class shout Heil Trump and throw a Nazi salute while setting up for their senior group photo. That was maybe 4 years ago.

I'll start this by saying I am vaccinated. BUT - I am highly resistant to someone telling my I HAVE to be vaccinated. I did my own research, from many sources. I don't believe most of what I hear on the news, not without doing some research. I fully know that most, if not all, news sources can skew information to fit their own agenda. Doesn't matter what side of the political spectrum they are on. If you can convince a person to really research into things, and let them be able to come to their own conclusion about the safety and risks. And to really find genuine sources, not just the "Absolutely YES and Absolutely NO" sources - most will come to find the benefit outweighs the risk. But I didn't get the vaccine because someone told me I had to. I got it because a friend had two family members die within weeks of contracting Covid. I read as much as I could on the vaccine and how it was created before I decided it was for me.

I read as much as I could on the vaccine and how it was created before I decided it was for me. It might not work for you, but it does for others. One of my friends is a nurse in TX. Went to school as an adult mom of three teen boys (and had a surprise 4th son while she was studying) to get her RN degree. A degree that took her years longer because a lot of it was part time, and she had to take her boards three times. So to say she fought like a demon to get that degree would be understating it. She didn’t want to get vaxxed, but when faced with losing all she’d worked for, she got it on deadline. I sort of understand where you’re coming from, but I want to use something you said (that was specific to this) in a wider perspective. I gotta say, as someone who wasn’t born here but has lived here 20 years this year, there are *so* many wonderful things about this country, but this increasingly widespread, self-destructive trait of “no one is going to make me do anything I don’t want to or tell me what to do” is equal parts baffling and repulsive to me. Not just related to vaccines, but it applies widely to things like seatbelts, drink driving and so many other things. I understand it less and less the longer I live here. I’m definitely not big on authoritarianism or fascism, but a lot of these things that bring this out are things that are done for widespread protection, because the wider community clearly needs protection from the worst impulses/actions of some of us.

Too many conservatives don't seem to understand the difference between authoritarianism and "fellowship" - which is weird because they spend a lot of time telling others how much they care about "the least of their brothers", or "loving their neighbors" or about how they have "found fellowship" through their religious beliefs.

I hope he made the decision for his own reasons and that it gives him and those around him, including you, both protection and peace of mind. I exhaled a lot when I got mine. I hope he does too.
